Diablo 4 is particularly interesting for many players at the start of a new season, but motivation clearly wanes a few weeks later. One player didn’t let that get him down and brought the fun back into the game with a simple trick.
Diablo 4 is a live service game. Fresh content is released approximately every three months in the form of seasons, along with regular, ongoing updates. For many players, the season start is the best time, as everyone runs “with a butter knife and jute sack” through Sanctuary. However, after the initial hype, many leave the game behind.
The community is currently discussing: In the community, five weeks after the start of season 9, people are discussing what players do when they become “tired” in Diablo 4. One player shared his observation: The key to renewed gameplay enjoyment was a small but effective change.

What did the player switch? The player reports on Reddit that he was burned out. He played a spirit-born character in the season and pushed as far as he could. Every day felt like work to him. He wasn’t burned out because of the game, but because of the class.
But then he simply created a new character:
Yesterday I switched to another character and suddenly I love the game again with new passion. If you’re tired of the season or a character just isn’t fun anymore and you don’t want to spend 99 billion on some random gloves, create a new character, try a new playstyle, and discover what other builds have to offer.
This is what other players say about it: In the comments, many share the same view. Starseid8712 believes that the fun lies in progress, meaning in leveling up. SnooMacarons9618 adds: “I usually start a new build as soon as I can easily manage Qual 3 with the current build. […] This keeps it fun.”
The user z01z sums it up: “I mean, that’s the gameplay loop, my friend. You play a character until you’ve done everything or completely get stuck, then you make a new one or play something else until the next season starts.”
Some players switch classes every season for this reason – like flowstateskoolie. He says: “That keeps it fresh and fun. Since I started with season 6, the order has been: Necro, Barb, Sorc, and now Spiritborn.”
And noxvita83 even plays three different classes: “I usually play three characters simultaneously and switch between them. Currently, I’m playing Sorc, Barb, and Druid. I enjoy the switch because the different playstyles provide variety.”
