A player shows a video of his father’s PC. The community is shocked, as such a dirty PC has not been seen in a long time.
A player was tasked by his father to check his computer, as it had been getting slower. However, when the user opened his father’s PC, he was horrified. On reddit, he posted a short video where you can see how the inside of the PC looks:
The PC is completely filthy inside, with all components covered in a thick layer of dust and dirt. In several replies under the post, he explains that he has since cleaned the PC, but the hard drive (HDD) did not survive the dirt.
What are the reactions? Some comments express shock, while others find it amusing. Many explain that the combination of dust and cigarette smoke could hardly be worse.
Some people strongly recommend installing a few (dust) filters in the system to minimize the dirt next time.
Many add that it’s no wonder the PC hasn’t been working properly and has been getting slower.
By the way, this is not the first time people have shown what happens when you neglect to clean your gaming PC for years:
Dirt can overheat the PC and cause other problems
Why should you clean your computer regularly? Dirt and dust block access points for air or your fans. This causes some components or parts to not dissipate heat properly and consequently overheat.
The processor and graphics card then throttle performance to deal with the heat or shut down in an emergency to protect the components. Your PC will gradually become slower.
Moreover, dirty fans are significantly louder because they have to spin much faster to adequately cool components like the CPU or the graphics card.
If moisture also comes along with the dirt and dust, then in the worst case, metal parts in your computer start to rust. However, this is rather rare.
