An honest finder: A player explained on reddit that he found a Steam Deck and wanted to return it. He had sent a friend request to the logged-in user and even reported it to Steam Support, but that didn’t help.
How did he find the owner? Eventually, he did find out who the owner was. The Steam Deck had been in a laptop bag. The laptop itself was damaged, but the player managed to start it with some tricks and found the owner’s address in a document.
He proudly reports his successful return on reddit in another post. The person appeared in his office and picked up his device. The owner had placed the laptop and Steam Deck on the roof of his car and forgotten them there when departing.

The finder had previously stated in another post that he would like to have a Steam Deck. He had used the found device as a demo unit
while searching for the real owner.
How it turned out: And the fundraising campaign was a success. So far, Gofundme.com has collected 1,148 Canadian dollars, which is approximately 774.56 euros. This will allow him to buy the most expensive model with 1 TB and an OLED screen. It costs 679 euros in Germany.
