When building his gaming PC, he apparently did almost everything right, but he made a mistake with the last percentage that had far-reaching consequences: he plugged the monitor into the wrong output.
One PC, two GPUs, big differences
Why is it important where I connect the monitor? A graphics card can have multiple outputs alone, for example, a combination of DVI or HDMI. However, modern processors often have GPUs on the chip alongside the CPUs. This makes them so-called APUs. Accordingly, this component also has an output for connecting a monitor that is on the motherboard. The Reddit user from the above thread connected his monitor to this one.
What are the consequences? As the user reports, he could not enjoy his long-awaited game, which he had chosen to test the new PC, Ghost of Tsushima. It ran at miserable frame rates of under 30, and the title automatically selected the worst settings, which he described as “PS2 graphics.”
The weak graphics unit of the APU is to blame, as it cannot compete with models from Nvidia or AMD installed separately on the PCI-Express slot. After reconnecting the monitor, his performance problems were history.
