A player is desperate at his PC, but the solution to his annoying problem is not far away. For the user simply forgot to mount a part on his PC. And he is probably not the only person who has completely underestimated that part.
A user reports on Reddit that he has built a new gaming PC. However, he has been struggling with Wi-Fi and connectivity issues the whole time. He even considered running an Ethernet cable to his PC to get the problem under control.
How did he solve the problem? The solution turned out to be quite simple. Because the user had apparently forgotten to mount his Wi-Fi antenna on his computer. He himself writes:
I took another look at the motherboard and realized that I simply hadn’t installed the Wi-Fi antenna. I rummaged through the box of unused parts, found the antenna, plugged it in, and the problem was immediately solved.
His tip: one should not forget the antenna during installation. That would save a lot of trouble in the end.
How are the reactions? The reactions to his post, however, are surprisingly positive. Someone explains under his post that he had been struggling with the problem for over a year until he discovered his post on Reddit. He probably wouldn’t have come up with the idea of installing the Wi-Fi antenna on his own. Such Wi-Fi antennas always cause excitement and amusement because many do not understand what the part is for.
Wi-Fi is more flexible, cable connection more stable and with lower latency
Wi-Fi or cable, which is better? For competitive online gaming, streaming, or when maximum stability is desired, an Ethernet connection should always be preferred.
Ethernet connections typically offer lower latency and are therefore better suited for competitive gaming. Wired connections are also significantly less susceptible to interference, disconnections, or speed fluctuations, as they occur with Wi-Fi due to walls, other devices, or sources of interference: Ethernet cables are protected from electromagnetic interference, while Wi-Fi can be negatively affected by other wireless devices.
However, Wi-Fi has one decisive advantage over Ethernet connections: You are significantly more flexible because you don’t need a cable. With a laptop or other mobile devices, you can easily walk around your apartment or have Internet access even where it is not easy to reach with a cable.
In the end, it is a question you have to answer yourself: Do you want stable, interference-free Internet or do you not want to give up the flexibility that Wi-Fi can offer.
