The US corporation Microsoft has a clear strategy with its Xbox Game Pass and likes to bring elaborate AAA games to the subscription on release: such as the new sci-fi role-playing game Starfield. However, the offer for new customers of the Game Pass has now been significantly restricted.
Total War: Warhammer 3, Forza Horizon 5, Exoprimal or Age of Empires 4 – all examples of full-price titles that were available on the release day in the Xbox Game Pass.
If you only subscribe to the Game Pass for PC, you can play the games for 10 euros for one month. Perfect for players who don’t stay long with one title and want to try a lot.
Savvy savers could take this to the extreme: With an account that has never subscribed to the Xbox Game Pass, the trial period costs only 1 euro. The offer recently returned after a price increase for the Game Pass.
Until recently, you could game for one month. Quietly and secretly, this period was shortened to 2 weeks just before the release of Starfield.

What has changed? That’s basically it. The trial subscription for one euro now only offers you 14 days of trial time. The offer applies to:
- Xbox Game Pass Ultimate
- Price: 14.99 € / month
- Xbox Game Pass PC
- Price: 9.99 € / month

For the Xbox Game Pass console, you cannot start a trial subscription. However, the contents are included in the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which combines the pass from PC and console. The Ultimate Pass also includes Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta).
You must cancel the Game Pass in time during the trial subscription; otherwise, the regular price will apply. If you are a subscriber, you can gift the 2-week trial to friends.
A great trick to save still works: If you know that you will be subscribed to the Game Pass for a long time, you can save over 200 euros with a duration of 27 months using a trick.
