Does the FIFA 20 demo have an online mode? No, in the current test version of FIFA 20, there is no specific multiplayer mode where you can compete online against other players or friends.
Instead, there are only offline modes: a slimmed-down kick-off mode and a brief insight into the new Volta world.
The FIFA 20 demo is only meant for you to play offline alone or with buddies on the couch and get a first impression of the new gameplay. Here you can find 5 tips on what you should test in the demo.
However, there is a trick on PlayStation 4 that allows you to challenge your friends online in the demo. We will show you how it works.
Play with friends via SharePlay
These are the requirements: You and your friends need a strong internet connection. Ideally over 50 MBit/s. Additionally, at least one person must have downloaded and installed the FIFA 20 demo on PS4. PS Plus is also required.
Here’s how it works:
- Start the FIFA 20 demo and go into the kickoff mode. Now wait at the team selection and open the PS4 menu by clicking the middle button on your controller, where the PlayStation symbol is
- Now invite your buddy to a party through the PS4 menu.
- On the right side of the party, select “Share Play”
- Press “Hand over controller to visitor”
- and then “Play together”.

Keep in mind that you need a PS Plus subscription for this action, and a SharePlay session lasts a maximum of one hour.
If your internet connection is fast enough, your friend will now appear at the team selection in kickoff mode. He can take control of the opposing team, and you can play the demo against each other.
However, keep in mind that you are both “sharing” the screen. The opponent sees everything you see. With the new penalties and free kicks, this is quite unfavorable.
