In the MMO shooter Planetside 2, you will be hammering at your own base in the year 2016.
As PcGamesN reports, the air in Planetside 2 will no longer be filled only with blaster fire and attacking aircraft, but also with the hammering and sawing of futuristic tools there. For in 2016, Planetside 2 is set to receive “base building” – players will be able to construct their own fortifications. Base building will go beyond simply placing turrets, as they plan to start with a “handful” of placeable items and release new sets in the months following.
Additionally, the developer team DGC will be overhauling the continent Indar, the AI-controlled turrets, there will be changes to resources, and a new victory point system.
All this was presented in the live stream for the 3rd anniversary. You can watch the stream in full length here, and we will include a summary from a YouTuber:
The changes presented in the live stream were originally expected for September . During that time, the then-president of the studio, John Smedley, announced extensive changes. However, nothing has been heard since Smedley’s departure.
At the end of 2015, base building was supposed to hit the test server, going live in 2016. Recently, Planetside 2 has been more known for financial troubles.
