On October 16, 2025, Pax Dei will transition from Early Access to final release on Steam. The developers have now released the exact schedule, including specific times and launch details.
What do I need to know about the release? Pax Dei will launch on October 16, 2025, on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Game Pass, and through the proprietary launcher). The exact timeline leading up to the release is as follows:
- Since October 6, 2025 – 5 PM: The servers are offline to prepare for the release. Sales will also be paused.
- From October 14, 2025 – 2 PM: Early access begins for all owners of a founder package. The public test server goes live. Founders can finalize the premium membership and share their free copy of the game with a friend (who can then also start playing).
- From October 16, 2025 – 5 PM: The official release begins. Anyone interested can now purchase Pax Dei through the various stores or play via Game Pass. The premium membership is also now available to everyone.
Pre-Download, Wipe, and Subscription
Is there a pre-download? Those who have already played Pax Dei in Early Access do not need to reinstall the MMORPG, but only need to download the release patch (which should be available from October 14, 2025, at 12 PM).
Those who want to start early as founders can download the client from October 14. Those joining with the release on October 16 can also start the download then.
Is there a wipe? Those who played during Early Access must live with a final reset of their progress for the launch. Specifically, it states in the official announcement on playpaxdei.com:
After the release, everyone starts on new shards and all characters, properties, inventories, skills, and so forth will be wiped and reset. This is the last wipe of Early Access, and after the release of Pax Dei 1.0, there will be no further wipes.
How long do I have to gift my free copy of Pax Dei? According to the developers, founders have until November 16, 2025, to pass on their free copy of Pax Dei to another player.
What kind of MMORPG is Pax Dei? In our preview report from the alpha testing phase in April 2024, we had already described that Pax Dei feels like a survival game without survival elements in the first hours. You can expect a social sandbox MMO with a strong focus on resource gathering, crafting items and buildings, and trading goods.
From individual properties, entire villages, towns, and fortresses can emerge. Additionally, there are dungeons that groups with tanks, healers, and damage dealers can explore, as well as areas where PvP will be active around the clock. It’s up to you to decide which aspect of the game you want to focus on.
Do I necessarily need the premium subscription? Originally, the developers toyed with the idea of a mandatory subscription, but in July 2025, they decided that they want to offer the subscription as optional. If you sign up for the subscription, you gain access to several bonuses and property tokens (which are required for your own property).
Without the subscription, you still have access to all basic systems of Pax Dei, but you must use public workshops and limited storage because you lack the property tokens needed to secure your own property for more than a month.
