Tip 2: Build Crafting 101 – Here’s how to start
As we reported in our beginner guide, you shouldn’t dive into build crafting right away, as resetting builds that don’t work can be very frustrating and costly.
However, if you want to embark on your journey alone from the beginning without outside help, you should pay attention to the following things when build crafting:
- Use Path of Building software for PoE2: Save yourself frustration and currency and ensure you can instantly see how your changes improve or worsen your stats. You can also conduct many experiments there.
- Find out which skill is for bossing and mobbing in your build: In addition to debuffs and buffs, there are two attacks that you will use interchangeably depending on whether you’re fighting large or smaller enemies. It’s important to find out which ones resonate with you the most so you can enhance them later.
- Use consistent elements: There are hybrid builds that channel different elements (especially with the Sorceress), but if you are a beginner, it’s better to focus on one element. Enhancing one element is more manageable and effective than spreading yourself too thin across several elements, which then become weak.
- Focus on Crit Chance first: Critical damage is important, but if your critical hit chance is abysmal, a high crit damage won’t help you. Therefore, try to maintain a ratio of 1:2 for Crit Chance.
- Increase your resistances: By the endgame, you should maximize the resistance of all elements (75%). This will make you more survivable and prevent you from being killed in one hit.
- Pay attention to your defensive stats: Depending on the class you choose, you should focus on armor, evasion, and energy shield. Depending on your build, there are options to focus on two stats, which can also be practical. The important thing is to increase these stats as well; otherwise, your chance of survival decreases.
- The right weapons are crucial: Do not choose weapons based on appearance, but rather on their base stats. Many items have varying values for attack speed as well as physical or elemental damage. Try to obtain better models with enhanced stats to build them into God Rolls.
- Increase your skill gems according to level: The higher you level up, the more you should also enhance your gems. Use stronger skill gems for this purpose.
- Select your support gems wisely: If you want to enhance your skill gems, you need to choose support gems, but often the ones recommended by GGG are not what you should pick. So feel free to browse through the entire gem catalog and choose atypical gems as well.
However, the most important point is: Take your time. Don’t expect your build to one-shot every enemy right away. You will need time and luck, as your build will also change based on the drops you receive. That’s why there are so many different builds for the same skills.
Tip 3: Use trading
If you’ve arrived in a new act but notice that your gear is too weak, you should resort to trading. Many bases and rare items can be purchased with solid stats for a few orbs.
Thanks to the recently implemented trading window in the game, trading with other players is easier than ever. You select the base item you need, set the suffixes and affixes you are looking for and filter them out.
Moreover, with Ange, trades can also be conducted without the presence of the players, providing a seamless experience without needing to interact with others – if that is a bother to you.
