The developers of Path of Exile 2 have not fulfilled the great desire for a new class in the ARPG with the new season “The Third Edict”. Players are still drawing a positive conclusion and are just hoping for a change.
How is Path of Exile 2 doing? Since the start of the new season “The Third Edict” on August 29, 2025, Path of Exile 2 has been full of players again. Even more than 10 days after the launch, over 220,000 players log in daily during peak times, according to SteamDB.
While most players had demanded a new class, the developers did not fulfill this player wish and instead focused on long overdue improvements to in-game systems such as trading, crafting, a story expansion, and a new season mechanic.
Although no new class has arrived, the developers have managed to convince the veterans with their new update, as they now show in their first conclusion.

Positive conclusion from the veterans
How is the season received? With the veterans who have been accompanying Path of Exile 2 for a long time, the new season is very well received. They explain on Reddit that the update was just right, especially compared to the previous season, which had loot problems.

- JustRegularType: “I skipped version 0.2, and 0.3 definitely feels like a step forward. It’s not perfect yet, but it feels like they are moving in the right direction.”

- Majinlord: “I had a lot of fun. Loot feels good. Abyss feels good, aside from the performance and a strange bug where my ‘rhoa’ gets stuck for 20 seconds. Crafting finally feels viable. That’s a big win for PoE 2.”

What do players wish for? Although the season is well received, veterans have one thing they wish from the developers. They would like to see a mid-season patch in a few weeks that buffs weaker classes and builds to pave the way for a new run with a different character.
The same goes for Reddit user TrottoStonno: “However, I hope for a balancing in the middle of the league. Their intent was to create MUCH more options for endgame abilities and builds, and I don’t think they’ve achieved their goal.”
Whether the developers will adjust the balance again in a few weeks or whether they will focus on the next big update of the predecessor Path of Exile (1) remains to be seen.
That the developers have not fulfilled the player wish for a new class and still made the veterans happy shows that the developers know exactly what players really want.
