Patch 8.1 of World of Warcraft brings one of the most impressive mounts that WoW has ever had – a water elemental from Jaina.
One of the upcoming bosses in the Battle of Dazar’Alor, the major raid from Patch 8.1 Tides of Vengeance, is the fight against Jaina Proudmoore. Horde players can fight it normally, while Alliance players must play a flashback to see the fight from the Horde’s perspective.
On the mythic difficulty, however, Jaina has a very special loot in the loot table, namely an exclusive mount: a frost elemental as a mount.
What makes the mount so special? The frost elemental named “Glacial Tidestorm” features a unique model that has not been used by any other elemental in the game. Unlike the “normal” water/frost elementals in the game, this elemental is only half frozen, namely at the top of the head. This creates a platform for a character to stand on. You cannot sit on the elemental – otherwise, your behind might freeze.

Guaranteed drop on mythic? Jaina Proudmoore is the last boss in the raid Battle of Dazar’Alor. The last boss almost always has an exclusive mount on mythic difficulty. As long as the raid is considered “current”, the drop chance will likely be 100%. Later, when this raid is no longer relevant, the drop chance will dramatically decrease to below 1%.
Thus, World of Warcraft seems to have yet another mount that thousands of players will be chasing in two or three expansions.
