The next patch for World of Warcraft is on the horizon. Although it is just a “0.5” patch, there is plenty of new content.
Although most players are still battling through the heroic or mythic version of the raid “Palace of Nerub’ar”, new content is not far away – including a new raid. The major event patch 11.0.5 will be released in October and will kick off the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of World of Warcraft.
When does Patch 11.0.5 come out? The release date for Patch 11.0.5 is October 23, 2024, in Europe. Due to different time zones, the patch will be available in America on October 22.
What kind of patch is this? Typically, patches with the version number “0.5” are seen as small patches that introduce only a few new contents. However, this will not be the case for 11.0.5. Even though the patch hardly progresses the story of “The War Within”, there is a lot of new (and old) to experience. The focus of the patch is the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of World of Warcraft.
This includes a new raid, returning dungeons, plenty of world bosses, one or the other quest line, and of course a lot of unlockable rewards to celebrate this anniversary.
The Contents of Patch 11.0.5
These contents are playable with the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of World of Warcraft in Patch 11.0.5:
- There is a new currency called “Bronzedragon Celebration Badges”, which you can earn from almost all activities.
- Blackrock Depths is a raid with 3 difficulties: LFR, Normal, and Heroic.
- There are re-releases of the popular “Tier 2” sets.
- Classic WoW dungeons are returning as timewalking.
- Chromie needs help freeing the opening of Ahn’Qiraj from time anomalies.
- New puzzles and secrets will be available each week.
- World bosses like the Sha of Anger and Archavon can be found in the open world.
- Korrak’s Revenge (the “classic” Alterac Valley) is back available.
- The trading post features back templates with the symbols of the races from Warcraft III.
How long will the event remain active? Unlike previous celebrations, this event will not be live for just a few weeks, but for several months. You can enjoy the content until January 7, 2025. This will likely be the date when the next “proper” Patch 11.1 is expected to be released, but this has not yet been confirmed.
Until then, you can enjoy the current raid – even former Blizzard employees praise it.
