After the first two stress tests of the Early Access MOBA Paragon, Epic Games reviews the situation, provides an outlook on upcoming changes, and announces the next Open Beta weekend.
2 months and 2 stress tests later
Paragon, the third-person MOBA by developer Epic Games, has been in Early Access for two months now. Quite a bit has happened during this time. Three new heroes have been sent into battle for Agora, various maps have been added, movement speed has been increased, and countless bugs have been fixed.
In addition, they continue to work on balancing the characters and maps, trying to provide players with helpful resources to ensure a positive (game) environment, and preparing a draft mode that will represent a first step toward ranked play.
Are you playing already, or are you still waiting?
After the two stress test weekends that have already taken place, they are putting the first insights into practice. These primarily concern player searching. While the number of PvP matches considered fair by the developer has increased, achieving this required an increase in the average waiting time by 1 minute.
It also turned out that the least waiting time has to be accepted when playing as a full team, meaning with five players. However, if you only enter the player search as a duo, you will have to wait significantly longer before you can jump into battle. I could sing you a song about that…
However, Epic Games vows to improve and explains the sometimes long waiting times due to the not yet final system and the time of day, when fewer players are generally found on the servers during the Early Access phase. Furthermore, the mentioned draft mode is expected to solve some of the player search problems.
“Open Beta” weekend
For those who are not discouraged by this and want to give the game a chance in this early phase, or would like to test it just to support the development, you have time from Thursday, May 26, to Monday, May 30.
Then, the Early Access gates will be opened again for all interested parties on PC and PlayStation 4. All you have to do is register on Paragon.com by May 25 to get a picture of Agora and the 16 previous heroes.
