Developer Epic Games provides further insights into the creation process of the new map in Paragon: “Monolith”.
In Paragon, the Open Beta Free-To-Play MOBA for PC and PS4, the first test of the upcoming new map “Monolith” is just around the corner. However, before that happens, developer Epic Games is giving a preview of what players can expect and what graphical changes they can look forward to as part of a more open dialogue with the community.
Safe Gathering
Thus, Monolith will not only be nearly 30% smaller than the current map but also offer asymmetrical gameplay through the various paths. The so-called “safe path” should be the ideal route for carries like Murdock, Sparrow, or Twinblast in combination with a support character.

A new buff located near the safe path is intended to improve team economy overall. Additionally, the layout is designed to make it difficult for enemies to gank from a natural defensive position. This creates a farming area with low risk for the still very fragile carries at the beginning of the game.

From Dusk Till Dawn
However, the upcoming map will not only bring new possibilities in gameplay. Epic has also opted for a better distinction between the two halves of the map, referring to them as Dusk and Dawn.

While the Dawn area will feature rounder architecture, brighter materials, as well as lush and colorful nature, the Dusk area will be the opposite. Sharper edges, cold metal, and darker tones will characterize this part of the battleground.
In addition to all these changes, verticality, a hallmark of Paragon, has also been addressed. While some heroes have gained too much advantage from an elevated position against their opponents on the current map, there will also be spatial redesigns to address this issue. We will soon be able to see how that looks in the heat of battle.
