Pocketpair presented its new update Sakurajima for Palworld during the Summer Game Fest, which will be released on June 27th. The announcement of the new option for skins for individual Pals has triggered mixed reactions in the community.
What are these skins? As part of the Summer Game Fest, Pocketpair, the studio behind Palworld, introduced its new update Sakurajima, which will be released on June 27th.
On their X account, the studio shared in a countdown that the update will also introduce the option for skins for individual Pals. In their announcement, we see that the Pal Cattiva will receive a skin. However, it is not yet known whether we will receive skins for all Pals directly.
Although this may generally seem like an exciting innovation for many players, many players are negatively affected by one thing.

Skins could be monetized
Why is the studio playing with the fans’ feelings? The user Aggravating-Bug-8761
shares a screenshot in a thread on Reddit that is supposed to show a new building. This is the Cattiva statue named Pal Dressing Facility
.
The description shows that players can use this statue to change the appearance of their Pals. However, what players have noticed is that the description states that you can use skins obtained in the game, but also those obtained outside the game.
This now leads players to suspect that with the upcoming update, they will be able to buy skins for their Pals, which many players do not seem to like.
This is how the community reacts: Some users agree with the post creator and express their concern and sadness that skins could be monetized. However, others defend the studio and say that one should not jump to conclusions too quickly, as it could also mean something else.
Some users write:

Maybe it can also be used to apply and remove modified skins?
- Metal_Sign suggests on Reddit:
There’s potential for both a lot of good and a lot of bad here. I’m hopeful.

As long as they are purely cosmetic, it’s fine.
