Bomb King is one of the quirkiest characters in Paladins. Cheerful and laughing, he throws around his deadly bombs. With his bombs, His Majesty deals devastating damage and therefore belongs to the damage class. With his Grumble Bomb, Puff Bomb, and King’s Bomb, he also deals AoE damage, causing chaos among the people.
Bomb King: Abilities Overview – It’s going to be explosive!
His Majesty is not called the “Bomb King” for nothing. All his abilities are designed to throw bombs and trigger explosions. So that no one can escape his exploding bombs, his sticky bombs cling to enemies and surfaces.
The large, grumpy Grumble Bomb deals damage. What is particularly useful about it: Hit enemies lose consciousness and become briefly immobilized. With the Puff Bomb, Bomb King keeps enemies at bay and knocks them away.
His Majesty wants to be close to the common folk. With a “Give Your King a Big Hug!” he announces his ultimate ability “King’s Bomb”. With it, the king himself transforms into a bomb and rolls into the enemies. Within a certain radius, it deals considerable damage and stuns enemies.
Bomb King – Abilities in Detail
Bomb King’s abilities are mainly focused on crowd control and AoE effects. Triggering his sticky bombs causes significant damage, especially when they stick to enemies.
- LMT – Sticky Bomb: Throw a sticky bomb every 0.6s that sticks to enemy champions for 2s. A maximum of 6 sticky bombs can be active at a time. Sticky bombs deal 900 damage in the explosion area.
- RMT – Trigger: Ignite all active sticky bombs to cause them to explode.
- Q – Grumble Bomb: Throw a Grumble Bomb that becomes angrier for 3s, then explodes, deals 800 damage, and stuns all targets within range for 2s.
- F – Puff Bomb: Throw an unstable Puff Bomb that sticks to any surface. When this bomb is triggered, a knockback occurs.
- E – King’s Bomb: Transform into a King’s Bomb for 5s. If you explode, deal 2,500 damage to targets in the explosion center, knock yourself back, and stun enemies. Ignores shields.
Bomb King – Strategies & Strengths of His Majesty
Bomb King’s sticky bombs have a fairly high range. This allows you to keep your distance, which you should do with Bomb King. He has no escape options and can be easily taken out by a flanker. Therefore, it’s best to stay close to your team, so that more mobile champions cannot chase and eliminate you.
Together with the item “Wrecker”, the Bomb King is a real tank melter. Large, slow frontline champions like Torvald or Fernando are easiest to hit with the sticky bombs.
Start Team Fights with Bomb King
The Grumble Bomb deals damage but has a trait that is even more devastating. The grumpy ball stuns enemies upon exploding for 2 seconds. This 2 seconds can be utilized by your entire team to shoot at the defenseless targets with all their might. You should communicate with your team when you plan to throw the Grumble Bomb into play.
Spread Chaos Among the People
Bomb King is primarily a damage champion. However, there is a second role that suits him well: an absolutely annoying pest. Even if you are not particularly good at throwing sticky bombs at champions, you can still greatly annoy and hinder your opponents. Throw your sticky bombs wherever you can.
Leave the bombs in tunnels and chokepoints and blow them up as soon as an opponent tries to pass by. Sometimes your opponents will get frustrated and look for another way.
A King Needs His Subjects, Stay With Your Team
Bomb King is not a classic damage dealer who chases down enemies and annihilates them in 1vs1. His Majesty prefers to be with his people, spreading chaos and explosive joy. Make sure to use your powerful AoE effects to stun and knock back enemies.
Your team will thank you. Work together to prevent the enemy team from getting anywhere near objectives and control points.
Bomb King – Deck “Tank Terrorizer” by HavoK
We have already clarified that Bomb King mainly has three great strengths:
- AoE Control
- Melt Tanks
- Spread Chaos
Player “HavoK” has devised an effective deck that particularly enhances these three strengths. The “Tank Terrorizer” deck offers a mix of area control with the Grumble Bomb, mobility with the Puff Bomb, and a dash of brutality with Jolt and the legendary card.
For this deck, you will need the following cards:
- Legendary Card: Demolition – Grumble Bomb destroys all shields upon explosion. The perfect counter to many tanks in Paladins.
- Countdown (Level 3) – Reduces the cooldown of Grumble Bomb by 3 seconds. Apply pressure and throw the stunning bomb as often as possible at objects and near enemies.
- Doomsday (Level 2) – Activating the Grumble Bomb heals for 100 health. Serves for life preservation.
- Jolt (Level 3) – Puff Bomb knocks back enemies 30% further. Keep annoying enemies at bay, can be the last resort against flankers.
- Backdraft (Level 2) – Reduces the cooldown of Puff Bomb by 3 seconds for each exploded sticky bomb.
- King’s Court (Level 1) – Heals 15 health points for each exploded sticky bomb.
Here’s how to play with this deck:
HavoK recommends applying constant pressure on the enemy team with this deck. Throw as many sticky bombs as possible and secure area control with the Grumble Bomb. Ensure that objectives become a complete minefield and that enemies don’t even dare to come close. Should your royal life ever drop to a critical level, retreat with the Puff Bomb.
This deck is particularly effective for the current Patch OB 44, but also showcases the strengths of Bomb King well. If you are not very experienced in deck building, you can feel free to take this one.
Anyone who wants to master His Majesty should learn to aim as accurately as possible with the sticky bombs. They deal the most damage when they stick directly to the opponent. There’s only one effective strategy: Practice, practice, practice.
