Slowly but surely, the information about the next big patch, which is supposed to hit TERA this summer – at least in the Korean version of the game – is consolidating. We provide a small preview of what is yet to come.
A new class, more love for tanks
In the Korean original version of TERA, the updates arrive significantly earlier than in this country. The next big patch, aptly named “The Next,” has been in the works for some time now, and more and more information has been coming to light. In addition to a completely new class, new areas, and related instances, the experience for newcomers will also be improved.
New characters will also receive a new starting area (with story) and tanks can expect many improvements that will make life more pleasant.
Whatever it does: It looks spectacular.
The new class in TERA: a powerful woman
The update will come in Korea in three parts, with the first containing the new class for TERA. Not much information is known about it yet. However, the existing material suggests that it’s a melee fighter wielding fist weapons, dealing blows with spectacular graphic effects. Whether there will be a race restriction for character creation with this class is still uncertain – the image reveals, however, that at least female humans are part of it.
A new instance with many possibilities
As a new dungeon, the creators present a seemingly abandoned battleship, found in a storm. Players can explore the ship, uncover its secrets, and naturally encounter many adversaries. Since the instance is supposed to play out a bit differently each time (different paths/enemies), it is expected to offer a high replay value.
Inexperienced warriors can look forward to a “practice mode” that gently introduces them to the difficulty of the dungeons.
Not exactly inviting, but that has never deterred players.
New systems with numerous improvements
Otherwise, the changes mainly concern details that have previously bothered players. The experience for story quests is tripled so that one can level up exclusively through these missions. Additionally, the length of battles has been criticized by many players: they didn’t last long enough. Consequently, enemies will become tougher, but they will also grant more experience points. This is intended to enable more enjoyable battles that fully exploit the action-combat system.
Tanks will soon see more of the surroundings – unless the gaze is already focused on their own avatar…
Tanks can expect improvements in threat generation and will finally be able to position their camera to view more than just the small toe of a massive adversary.
Last but not least, changes will be made to itemization: new glyphs and crystals are set to offer more choice and create a wider spectrum of possibilities.

In the MMO shooter Destiny, the elite PvP event “Trials of Osiris” features the map “Black Shield” this week. We let experts speak. They give tips for the Trials of Osiris and specifically for the problematic map.
It has become a tradition. Each week, Guardians say, “It can’t possibly get worse. They can’t pick an even worse map for the Trials of Osiris.” And then it’s Friday again and Bungie shows, “Ha, you fools! Of course we can!”

This is how Black Shield works, the Trials of Osiris map in Destiny this week
This week it’s “Black Shield”. One of the four new maps that came with House of Wolves. It’s a very large map, with two different areas: “Inside” and “Outside.” The “normal” tactics in the Trials of Osiris so far: pinning enemies down with two players while a third flanks, do not work here. The distances are too great. It’s too dangerous. Normally, attackers have the advantage because they take the initiative. On “Black Shield”, they are at a disadvantage as their attack can easily falter.

Scout rifles, “Long-range” hand cannons and sniper rifles are especially in demand. Nexxoss has chosen a tactic that imposes his playstyle on the opponents by waiting at the spot where the flag appears at the end. This way, he remains in a stationary position and plays more defensively; the opponent has to come if they don’t want to lose through the 2-minute flag.
For most, it’s not a particularly attractive map this week. Numerous players are complaining about it. However, there are also some who realize that they see no chances at the beginning until something clicks, they win everything, and then it turns out to be a great map.
