The heart of the English-speaking Destiny community does not beat on Bungie.net, the developers’ forum, but in the subreddit DestinyTheGame. That’s where most discussions take place. Hundreds of new postings appear every day. Hot topics quickly receive 1000 comments. It goes back and forth. Over 186,000 people have subscribed to it. Destiny employees also post and actively read there – and most international news sites and many Youtubers get their information directly from there, just like one might have listened at the marketplace for the latest gossip, trash, but also interesting facts.

The subreddit for Destiny is also clearly the platform where players bring their content and videos about Destiny to the public.

The subreddit was launched in December 2012 by the redditor Cozmo23. This makes him the head of it all, which is customary on reddit.

And now, 30 months later, Bungie has chosen him: He is to become the new community manager alongside DeeJ and Urk. David “DeeJ” Dague has until now acted as the face of Bungie to the players. Eric “Urk” Osborne is currently working more behind the scenes and has greater responsibilities as “Community and Marketing Relations Manager.”

It had already become known a few hours earlier that Bungie was looking for someone, as the previous community manager DeeJ needed reinforcement, as it was said.

It seemed clear that someone popular from the community would be appointed. Many thought of one of the popular streamers or Youtubers who had become known for their Destiny coverage, such as Dattoo, Triple Wreck, KingGothalion, or ProfessorBroman. The choice then likely fell on someone who has proven he can build and maintain a community over a long time. (Besides, this is most likely going to be a paid full-time job in rainy Seattle, which does not suit everyone’s life planning.)

His role as the head of the Destiny subreddit will be relinquished by Cozmo to avoid any loyalty conflicts.

Deej announces and emphasizes that, even though there will be a new community manager, it does not mean that the old one will stop. He remains in his position and looks forward to working with the new member on the team.

In the MMO shooter Destiny the community complains about a lack of communication from the developers. Bungie has promised improvements.

“You’re not talking to us”

These are some of the topics in the feedback forum of Destiny on bungie.net:

• When will you make the vault finally bigger?
• When will you change the weapon balance so that some weapon types become useful again?
• What about the lag in the Crucible?
• Are you working on all these things, are you really listening to us, are you doing anything? Talk more with us. Give us a sign that you’re listening.

Players feel like they’re calling into a forest and nothing comes back. One user even states that the feedback forum for Destiny is like a large dumpster that reads “user complaints.”

Much criticism is directed at the link between Destiny and the players, the community manager “DeeJ.” He is not present enough for the players in the forums. “What’s the point of having a community manager if he doesn’t manage the community?”, they ask.

Destiny’s Community Manager under criticism, to receive reinforcement

Community manager DeeJ has now agreed with the fans in their criticism. Indeed, too little feedback comes from Bungie. He himself is too busy with other things to spend as much time in the forums as he would like.

In the background, he is having discussions to ensure that the community’s concerns are actually heard. All in the interest of the players. Because of that, through regular meetings about player feedback and through many other tasks, he is overwhelmed with time. Therefore, the community team will be expanded. So, DeeJ will receive reinforcement. This will be announced soon.

Most problems are expected to be solved in 2.0

He assures that every player feedback is heard, that they are working internally on numerous things, and that there are dedicated teams just to handle player feedback. There is a large public list of the community’s wishes that Bungie considers “predominant.” The lag in the Crucible is not on that list, but technicians are constantly working on improving performance.

In the coming weeks, they want to present further plans for “The Taken King, Destiny 2.0.” With 2.0 many of the current problems will be solved. The individual aspects will be presented in the next weeks, in the Weekly Updates. DeeJ apologizes for having to keep the players waiting. But soon, very soon it will be ready. Help is on the way.

Little change likely before The Taken King

Mein MMO says: It has been apparent since the last Weekly Update that Bungie seems unlikely to bring out a major patch before “The Taken King” to solve current problems. This suspicion is strengthened.

Weapon balance for example, or a change in the vault could be addressed in a mid-patch. That would be quite typical for the genre, and it has indeed been done in Destiny’s past.

However, it seems that Bungie wants to associate all of this with the big expansion – and not make any major changes to the “current” Destiny before they inevitably make some changes. If a mid-patch were still planned, they would have likely announced it already to calm the fans.

In the meantime, one can speculate on who the new “community ally” at Bungie could be. If Destiny announces this separately, it seems likely that they will bring on a YouTuber or streamer who has made a name for themselves with Destiny. There’s a number of candidates from the active English-speaking scene. We are rooting for ProfessorBroman. He seems like someone who can get things done – just like Joe Pesci.

In the MMO shooter Destiny, Variks is selling the sniper rifle “Veilshadow” this week. Experts consider it a good weapon to learn sniping in PvP.

Among the new weapons in “House of Wolves,” expectations were generally higher. When you ask guardians about their favorites, they mention the Fatebringer from the base game or “Black Spindle” from the first DLC Crota’s End. Numerous other favorites can also be found among the “old” exotic weapons, while the three new ones have yet to shine.

Of the weapons from May, only the Vestian Dynasty has made a name for itself. Everyone received it after completing the first quest – and well, some shotguns like the Matador 46 are also well received.

One of the “new” weapons dealers who has disappointed so far is Variks – the vendor for the Prison of Elders. This week he is selling a version of the sniper rifle “Veilshadow.” And it seems to be one of the better weapons, even though it can’t be re-rolled and has pretty bland stats.

Because: The weapon has solid base stats with high impact and relatively high rate of fire. And above all, it has a high hidden value in “Aim Assistance,” which is the aim help. Therefore, experts from Planet Destiny believe that this weapon is excellent for beginners in the Crucible.

Because this high “Aim Assistance” forgives inaccuracies when aiming and ensures that in the heat of battle, shots more often “hit the target,” meaning precision shots that would whiz past the opponent’s ear with other sniper rifles.

Our friend Nexxos is also positively impressed by the weapon and expected much less of it in the Crucible.

Both Nexxos and Planet Destiny recommend the Short View-SLH 10 scope in Column 1 and then either increased magazine size or improved stability in Column 3.

Conclusion: From the base stats, the weapon is ideal for the Crucible, but from the “properties,” the perks, unfortunately not. Nevertheless, it is a worthwhile and affordable investment for PvE players who have yet to try sniping in the Crucible. With this, hitting is truly easier. Variks is selling it until next Tuesday for a weapon core. You can get that in the Prison of Elders.

In the MMO shooter Destiny this week, a new bounty called The Silent Reaver has been added. We will show you how it works.

The Silent Reavers are a new sought-after bounty with Petra Venj. You won’t need any Aether Keys, no Aether Container, and no Public Event, you just need to start a patrol mission, go to the described location, and eliminate the enemies.
