In Destiny we look at some legendary hand cannons and show you how to use them best.
Fatebringer, Thorn, The Last Word – everyone knows these exotic hand cannons. These were feared in the Crucible and by the Darkness. For some, that still holds true. Each of the three exotic hand cannons has gained a certain cult status:
However, hand cannons in Destiny are not that easy to master. Not every Guardian is the “hand cannon type”. Especially since this weapon category has often faced criticism – not least because of the “Ghost Bullet” problem.
If you want to rely on hand cannons in PvE or PvP, choosing the right perks is crucial. Most hand cannons absolutely need range to be competitive. Below, we take a look at 14 strong legendary hand cannons and provide perk recommendations to maximize their potential.
The Lingering Song
Let’s start with a hand cannon with maximum impact: The Lingering Song. This powerful beast from the Iron Banner can take out other Guardians with two shots and also boasts excellent range. Stability and reload speed are below average, though. Here are the stats:
The Lingering Song is a niche hand cannon that can do something that few other weapons can: Kill an opponent in PvP with two shots. The Judith-D is from the same archetype, but its base stats are inferior to those of the Lingering Song.
An interesting perk combination here is Fitted Stock, Accurized Rounds, and Roulette. This gives you only four rounds in the magazine, but the chance of Roulette activating is high.
In PvE, however, Hammer Forged, Explosive Rounds, or Fireball are recommended.
Lolsumo is an app for League of Legends. The tool promises to improve your skills in LoL by providing you with statistics, replays, and detailed information about purchasable items. Leya tested the free version of the LoL app.
Lolsumo – Get better in League of Legends: This is the slogan for a LoL app from Dojo Madness designed to help you improve in LoL. The app uses a large pool of data to give you all the information about your past games and the upcoming match. Lolsumo calculates which items you should build during the upcoming battle, based on your data, ranking, and team composition.
In addition, it considers the past games of the opponents and their team composition. After the LoL match, you can take your time to review your performance report and observe how your performance changes. Currently, Lolsumo is in beta.
Lolsumo shows which items you should build for each match
In the screenshot, you can see what data Lolsumo provides before you start a game. In this case, I played Morgana as support.
The app shows me the opposing team at the top and indicates below which items are best for me in this specific composition and which abilities I should level first.
Lolsumo not only tells me which items are best suited for me but also which items I should have completed by which time. Additionally, the app shows how your opponents’ performances were with the respective champion in past matches.
After the match, you learn how well your performance was
After the round, my performance is evaluated, and I am ranked in one of the LoL ranks. In the image, you can see my statistics with Janna as support. For this match, I received a Platinum rank, which is made up of the individual values on the left side of the image.
The ranks in the respective categories are determined by calculating the average statistics of all players from the respective roles. Only the statistics of top laners are compared if you are playing a top laner or only the statistics of junglers if you are playing a jungler.
I am therefore compared to the average performance of a support and not with those of a Janna. I hope that one day the values of individual champs can be compared on average, as these can differ significantly from the values of the role.
Now I can see that my KDA values and gold income looked pretty good for this match. However, I still need to work on how many wards I place.
You should analyze these values individually for each LoL match because they cannot represent your complete performance. However, they are a good indicator of where improvement is needed.
Follow the pros with Lolsumo
With Lolsumo, you can follow professional LoL players and view their statistics and ratings in detail.
The pro feed looks just like your own. When you click the three dots at the top right, you get to the detailed performance presented earlier with Janna. Besides the pros, there is also a section where you can follow friends.
Conclusion on the LoL tool: Lolsumo is recommended, but you still have to think for yourself
Lolsumo is still in beta, and work is ongoing on features. Overall, the app ran smoothly for me, and I would definitely recommend trying it out.
Whether I improve in LoL through Lolsumo, I cannot yet judge, as I have only had the app for a week. However, I will continue to use it and see if I can observe an improvement in my performance over a longer period. One thing is clear: Even with the app, you have to approach each match with your own mind and make situational decisions about which skill or item benefits you the most at that moment.
I have often chosen a different order in the item build than what Lolsumo suggested when the course of the game required it. Nonetheless, I could gain good inspiration from it and found the timing information for the respective items particularly interesting. The statistics you receive after each match are a good indicator of how you compare to the average. They can also help you better filter your strengths and weaknesses and work on them.
So far, Lolsumo can only be used in English. According to the developers, a version in multiple languages is in the works. Lolsumo supports iOS, Android, and Web. I tested the free version of the app, which offers the functions I listed in the post. I think these functions are sufficient for the “normal” player. The pro version is available for €7.99 per month and offers even more detailed features. Whether these additional features are worth the money is something everyone must decide for themselves.
ARK: Survival Evolved delays the TEK tier update and thus the release for version 1.0 until summer 2017. Kayd Hendricks from Studio Wildcard revealed more about it in an interview.
Kayd Hendricks is the Senior Gameplay and Technical Designer at Studio Wildcard. He has now announced in an interview that the TEK update for ARK: Survival Evolved will be delayed. The TEK tier update is set to introduce not only laser cannons for dinosaurs, but many other futuristic items for the crafting system and an underwater base.
Originally, Wildcard planned to release the TEK tier update in January 2017, but at that time it would have been “too good to be true” according to Hendricks. It now seems that ARK players will have to wait until summer next year to be able to use plasma rifles, energy weapons, and jetpacks, among other things.
Ark Survival Evolved: PC will likely be ahead of PS4 and Xbox One with patches
Hendricks further commented in the interview about the difficulties of keeping all versions on the same level across all devices. Wildcard has now found that due to certification issues, processing times, and quality assurance, it is nearly impossible to keep the Xbox One version on the same level as the PC version. Currently, the ARK studio aims to release version 1.0 first on PC and there will be major patches coming for this at larger intervals.
However, it is already planned that all major content releases will be conducted simultaneously across platforms, while smaller patches and fixes will initially be released and tested on PC. It is likely that all major content releases can be executed simultaneously across platforms. Smaller patches and fixes will be tested first on PC and will appear on consoles along with the next major updates.
“We will buckle down and just finish the game.”
Until the launch of ARK: Survival Evolved, the studio will likely face a stressful period:
“We will buckle down and just finish the game. Really! We have a lot to do before the planned release, both creatively and logistically. It should be interesting to see how things develop, as we are aiming for summer 2017 as the release date.”
On Thursday, December 15th, Release 37 of the selective multiplayer RPG Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues was released.
Release 37, which was released relatively early after Release 36 due to Christmas and the holidays, mainly focuses on performance and loading time improvements. However, some interesting new features made their way into the game, including a complete overhaul of the city of Ardoris. Previously, it was lifeless and bare. Now objects and plants have been added, and some of the buildings have been modified, so that the entire city resembles a mixture of Shogunate and Venice.
Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues – The world becomes larger and more beautiful
The city of Xenos has also been revamped. Xenos is located on an island and represents a mix of various cultures, which is now also visually reflected. The city now somewhat resembles the major cities of our world, where different cultures collide. The Vauban Pass is a so-called Control Point. This is a group content of the game. Several players attempt to defeat the undead army that has taken over the pass, so that it can be safely used again. The players face wave after wave of enemies.
A pirate island with open PvP
If you are into PvP, you will be happy to know that the developers are currently working on a large island called Blood Bay. Open PvP reigns here, so players can fight each other anytime. Blood Bay is a pirate haven, where one can also settle down. However, one will never be safe. The first version of the new map will be integrated into the online game with the upcoming Release R38. R38 is expected to be released at the end of January 2017.
A release date for the game has not yet been set. However, based on the current state of the game, the developers still have quite a bit of work ahead of them.
The new hero at Heroes of the Storm is a true troll in 2017 – Zul’jin, the leader of the Amani tribes.
With Varian Wrynn and the Firelord Ragnaros, the two heroes announced at BlizzCon have already joined the Nexus, leading fans to speculate which hero will be chosen next. This speculation has now come to an end, as Blizzard has revealed the next character: Zul’jin will be the new hero in HotS.
Zul’jin – from Raid Boss to New Hero
In HotS he will still have both arms – as in Warcraft II.
Zul’jin comes from the Warcraft universe and should be familiar especially to players of Warcraft II and World of Warcraft. He succeeded in uniting the troll tribes and dancing around the long-eared elves of Quel’Thalas for quite a while.
He was captured and escaped by cutting off his own arm. Ultimately, he ended up as a boss in Zul’Aman – one of the popular troll dungeons.
These are Zul’jin’s skills in Heroes of the Storm
In Heroes of the Storm, Zul’jin will be an assassin. Let’s take a quick look at his abilities.
His trait is the troll ability Berserker. Once activated, each basic attack deals 25% more damage but consumes 2% of Zul’jin’s maximum health. Passively, his attack speed increases by 1% for each 1% of missing health.
Devastating Throw hurls an axe in the target direction, hitting the first two enemies, dealing damage, and marking them for 8 seconds. Zul’jin’s next 3 basic attacks against marked targets deal 50% more damage.
Twin Axes throws 2 axes in a circular arc. Enemies hit take damage and are slowed by 15% per hit.
With Regeneration, Zul’jin heals for 25% of his health over 4 seconds. The spell is channeled, and any damage taken interrupts the spell.
The first heroic ability is Taz’Dingo! The hero becomes immortal for 4 seconds, and his health cannot drop below 1.
Guillotine is the second heroic ability. Zul’jin throws an axe into the target area, dealing damage. The lower Zul’jin’s current health, the more damage is dealt.
There is currently no trailer for Zul’jin, but those who want to learn more about the troll should check out this old WoW trailer of him:

In The Division today, on December 22nd, a server maintenance will take place. Two changes will be made during this time.
In Ubisoft’s MMO shooter, the developers perform maintenance every Thursday to work on server stability or to deploy bug fixes in the background. This Thursday’s maintenance is only canceled if the servers were already down on Tuesday to deploy DLCs or title updates.
Last Tuesday, the Survival DLC was released on PS4, but regular maintenance will still take place today on all platforms. The reason: Two changes are coming.
It starts at 9:30 AM. The servers are expected to be down for 3 hours, so you can play again around 12:30 PM.
What changes today?
The changelog specifies two changes:
A problem is being fixed that unexpectedly caused players to be stuck in a queue for a long time when starting the player search for Survival.
Additionally, another issue with Larae Barrett will be resolved. If she is killed on the balcony, the loot will no longer get stuck on the balcony but will spawn directly with the player.
Jeff Kaplan talks in the year-in-review about the future of Overwatch – fans can look forward to plenty of new content.
The year is coming to an end, and that also means at Blizzard, one takes a moment to reflect on the past months. Overwatch has had a strong year, as not only the official release of the game was imminent, but also the launch of two new heroes, a new map, three seasonal events, and the rework of the ranked mode.
New heroes coming to Overwatch in 2017
Even more interesting is probably what players can expect in Overwatch in 2017. According to Kaplan, they are working on multiple projects at the same time and would experiment with several heroes, maps, and game modes. One hero is even far enough in development that they are now developing animations, appearance, and graphic effects for him – Blizzard is quite confident that this hero “will happen”.
The goal with the maps is still to release Oasis very early in 2017. Other maps are in development, including one that is supposed to host a “traditional game mode”, whatever that may mean.
For those who enjoy playing custom games but do not have a big friends list to constantly find teammates, they can look forward to the server browser feature. Custom games can be listed and displayed there, allowing for plenty of variations to be played, which should appeal to anyone who is bored with the “original” game modes.
Seasonal events planned
Finally, the team is working on some seasonal events. Although Kaplan does not provide any specific details, he claims, “you can surely guess some – others you have no idea about.”

Fans around the world are angry at Blizzard. The Overwatch comic has forever shattered many hopes.
Initially, Blizzard envisioned this quite differently. The Christmas comic for Overwatch was supposed to be a gift to the community, a typical Christmas story with some humor, friendship, and love. But as is often the case with hardcore fans, the comic simultaneously causes much outrage and sadness – because some relationships (shipping) that fans had hoped for will probably not take place in the Overwatch universe.
The most obvious “victim” of this comic is probably the “Widowtracer” pairing. Since Tracer is in a relationship with a certain Emily, there won’t be much room left for Amelie (Widowmaker). This was one of the most popular pairings in fanfictions. However, some fans are taking it calmly and see it merely as a motivation:
“Wonderful, Tracer is lesbian. Then she can break up with Emily and go to Widowmaker.”
But this is not the only fan-created couple that has now been buried. “Pharmercy” – the relationship between Pharah and Mercy – seems to have been finally shattered. Pharah is spending Christmas with a man who could very well be her boyfriend or even husband. Meanwhile, Mercy continues to help in crisis areas during Christmas, although she is reading a letter – presumably from Genji (notice the feather with which Genji writes that ends up with Mercy).
At least the “Gency” fans (i.e., Genji and Mercy in a relationship) are cheering. This also seems quite possible, as Mercy has long cared for Genji and saved his life after he was nearly killed by Hanzo. But where there are fans, there are also haters. A few people hate the mere thought that Genji and Mercy could be a couple.
“I will deny Gency until my death” and “If Gency is confirmed, I’ll uninstall and sue Blizzard”.
However, there is still hope for Ana and Reinhardt. Blizzard has confirmed on Twitter that all the children to whom Reinhardt reads stories indeed come from Torbjörn. At least this group is still holding on to their stories.
Ah, the internet and fans of fanfiction. Always refreshing entertainment.
Today the Christmas event at Battlefield 1 has started and rewards you with free Battlepacks and other in-game bonuses.
In Battlefield 1, you can participate in the Christmas event starting today. In the coming days, there will be many different in-game bonuses that you can earn. These include free Battlepacks and special dog tags. Also new are vehicle skins that will soon be available in the Battlepacks. We will show you what to expect as a Battlefield 1 player in the coming days and what gifts are available.
New Game Mode “Blind Delivery”
The first new game mode available from today, December 21, is a type of pigeon carrier mode. However, in Blind Delivery, the minimap is disabled, and you can only play with handguns and explosives.
Christmas Peace Dog Tag
Starting on December 22, the Christmas Peace dog tag will be granted to all players. This is limited to one tag per account. To receive the tag, you only need to log in to Battlefield 1 starting from that day.
This tag was already seen a few weeks ago in a leak. It probably refers to the famous “Christmas Truce of 1914” when a spontaneous ceasefire occurred between German and British soldiers on Christmas in Flanders.
Vehicle Skins in Battlefield 1
Also, on December 22, the vehicle skins in Battlefield 1 will be activated. In the new Battlepack version, you have the chance to obtain skins for heavy tanks. The skins are: SchnucK (outstanding) and Gold in the Desert (legendary).
Free Battlepack
Every player who logs in to Battlefield 1 from December 23 to 29 will receive a special reward. Per account, you will get a free Battlepack that contains cool items like weapon skins or XP bonuses. If you want to learn more about the boxes, we explain here the essentials about Battlepacks in Battlefield 1.
Additional Battlepacks with Premium Pass
If you have a Premium Pass and log in to the game between December 23 and 29, there will be special rewards for you. In addition to the 14 superior Battlepacks that Premium members already receive, there are two additional superior Battlepacks. You just need to log in to the game during the mentioned period.
Yesterday, the news came that the team that had been making Lord of the Rings Online for years is now leaving Turbine and continuing as Standing Stone Studio. This seems to have loosened some blockades. So now they are openly considering revising the character models of LOTRO. This might come with the Mordor expansion.
A New Look for Lord of the Rings?
According to the forum, such changes to the “avatars” are a sensitive matter. Even though a “revamp” may be well received, there are always some who prefer the old look. Therefore, they want to give players of “Lord of the Rings Online” the choice between new and old models.
One of the main priorities of the team’s new work is, by the way, to reduce lag. It also sounds like they want to strengthen the raiding community of Lord of the Rings Online again. The first raid that was introduced after three years without a new raid was well received. For Mordor, they are planning another one, with details still being worked out for the entire expansion.
Currently, amidst all this chaos, Patch 19.2 has been released for Lord of the Rings Online, bringing 17 new quests.
Military-MMO War Thunder (PC, PS4) leaves the beta test with the current patch. After four years in open beta, the game is now officially released.
As Gaijin announces, with patch 1.65 “Way of the Samurai” they are leaving the open beta test, which they have been in since 2012. Now the nations represented in the game have their own research trees for ground vehicles and aircraft. Ships are already in pre-beta testing. 1.65 marks a milestone in the history of the MMO – now they are no longer in beta, now they are “out there.”
For players, not much will probably change. In free-to-play titles, “Open Beta” and “Release” usually only differ by naming. A nice release trailer is available for the launch of War Thunder.

With patch 1.65, the Japanese forces finally get tanks in War Thunder . The new update “Way of the Samurai” also brings new maps and a new gameplay feature.
During World War II, the powerful navy and air force of the Japanese Empire made a name for themselves. The army of the Tenno also had some interesting tank types. These vehicles are now coming to War Thunder with the update “Way of the Samurai”.

The tanks of Japan are not all World War models like the “Type 3: Chi-Nu”. Because shortly after the capitulation of the Empire, the Japanese started building their own tanks again, which we can also drive in the game. For example, the “ST-A1” from the 1950s or the development “Type 61”. These new developments were necessary because the tanks offered by the USA were too heavy for the bridges of Japan and the average smaller Japanese soldiers could not cope with the dimensions of the US tanks.
However, a special case is the tank “Type 73” from the 780s. This cutting-edge tank features the new gameplay feature “hydropneumatic suspension”. This allows the Type 73 to change its ground clearance and the tilt angle of the hull, thus reacting ideally to the combat situation. In addition to the Type 73, several other selected tanks will also receive this feature. In addition to the Japanese tanks, the new update also includes two new maps.
In Black Desert Online all classes are officially “awakened” as of today. The Witch and the Mage receive their Awakening weapons, and to celebrate the awakening, there is a special event.
Finally, they are all awake! After Warriors, Witch, Valkyrie, Berserker and all other heroes from Black Desert Online received their Awakening weapons, today the two latecomers Witch and Mage follow suit. Depending on their gender, each class receives a different Awakening weapon.
https://youtu.be/Rl8vumYCF3o
Fire and Lightning
The Witch awakens with powerful Earth and Lightning magic. This allows her to deal better damage and smash opponents. The scruffy Mage, on the other hand, uses Fire and Water magic. With this, he can deal area damage.
Matching the awakening of all heroes, an event will take place in Black Desert Online starting December 22. You just have to log into the game, and you will receive lots of goodies, including beer, a gift box, as well as Black and Cron stones. The promotion is valid until January 18. Players who have not logged in for 30 days will also receive a gift from December 21 to January 25 when they venture back into the game.
In The Division, we present a PvE build around the gear set “D3-FNC”. This is more than just a tank set!
The update 1.5 introduced a new gear set, the “D3-FNC”, also known as the Frontline set. This set specializes in the ballistic shield, making it an interesting option for tanks.
However, the “D3-FNC” set not only makes you tanky but also transforms you into a true DPS machine when you skill your character accordingly. The YouTuber Skill Up demonstrates this build in the following video and explains why D3-FNC is an “incredible, super strong, and super fun gear set”:

First, regarding the gear set: It consists of a total of six armor pieces, of which you must equip four to unlock all bonuses. These are:
2-set bonus: +15% protection against elites
3-set bonus: +30% ballistic shield HP
4-set bonus: Talent – Allows the use of a submachine gun when a ballistic shield is active. The critical hit chance of the SMG is lowered to 0.
However, the Frontline talent also leads to the fact that you cannot switch weapons while the shield is active – not even to the pistol. Without this talent, you can only run around with a pistol when the shield is active.
Interesting: You can circumvent the downside of the 0% critical hit chance in several ways: with the Impulsor, with Wild Gloves, or the Precision talent.
The choice of skills
For this build, you first need the appropriate ballistic shield. This is the “Assault Shield” mod. This shield has about 20% fewer hit points than the standard shield (which is compensated by the 3-set bonus of D3-FNC), but it offers enormous advantages. Therefore, choose these skills:
Ballistic Shield (Assault Shield Mod): This shield deflects bullets for you and grants bonuses to damage resistance, reload speed, precision, stability, stagger chance, increased threat, and gives a weapon damage bonus of 20%! Originally, these hefty bonuses were designed for pistols. Now, your submachine gun can benefit from this as well.
Impulsor with Tactical Scanner
These are the armor pieces
Mask: D3-FNC with increased firearm damage, with bonuses to skill power and enemy armor damage.
Chest piece: Either high-end with the Reckless talent to increase damage by 8% but also increases incoming damage by 10%. As your shield absorbs damage for you in this build, this talent is excellent. Otherwise, Barret’s Bulletproof Vest is recommended. Since you always have the shield active, the damage increases by 5%. Good bonuses on the chest piece are armor and ammo capacity.
Kneepads: D3-FNC with increased stamina, bonuses to armor and enemy armor damage.
Gloves: D3-FNC – If you have another item with D3-FNC (e.g., the backpack), choose high-end gloves with the Wild talent, which increases critical hit chance against targets out of cover by 7%.
Backpack: High-end with the Specialized talent, which gives you 200% of firearms and stamina to skill power. Otherwise, the Resourceful talent is top, which makes every healing additionally affect the active skill. Thus, the shield is also “healed”. Pay attention to bonuses for armor and ammo capacity.
Holster: D3-FNC with a bonus to armor.
For armor mods, focus on firearms (to unlock all weapon talents) and on bonuses that increase toughness. If you’re flanked, you also need high toughness values – just the shield is not enough here.
Choose these weapons
No big surprise: You need a submachine gun with strong talents.
Skill Up has a Navy MP5 N with the talents Brutal (increased headshot damage by 12%), Receptive (damage increased by 10% when closer than 10m to the target) and Roguish (killing an enemy regenerates 35% health over 20 seconds). Otherwise, Destructive is also strong.
For weapon mods, you do not need bonuses for critical hit chance, as the 3-set bonus of D3-FNC destroys these. Instead, fully focus on headshot damage – with the shield, you are close to the enemy and can easily aim for their heads. Also, increase optimal range, as you are slow with the shield in hand and can only cover larger distances leisurely. To ensure the SMG is effective at range, look for optimal range in mods.
Additionally, choose a Light Machine Gun. If your shield breaks, take cover and hold the enemies off. This weapon type is also strong at range.
The character talents
Choose these character talents:
One is None: Headshot hits have a 50% chance not to be consumed.
Precision: Headshots transfer the Impulsor effect to a target – allowing you to deal critical hits and more damage to it.
On the Move: Kill a target while moving to reduce incoming damage by 30% for 10 seconds.
Emergency Medicine: Use a medkit when health is low to increase damage resistance by 40% for 10 seconds.
Conclusion: With this build, you gain a powerful ballistic shield along with a submachine gun, outstanding toughness, high weapon damage, increased precision, stability, range, reload speed, bonus stagger, critical hits, and bonus ammunition.
This makes it possible to rush solo through the most challenging PvE activities and deal a lot of damage as a tank. Possibly the best character setup for solo agents that is currently possible.
Over the Christmas holidays, you might want to try recreating this. What do you think of this build?
In FIFA 17, TOTW 14 is known. Which players can be drawn in packs with IF cards during Christmas?
In this week’s Team of the Week, there are two players over 90! Suarez stands out with an overall rating of 93, Ibrahimovic has a solid 91. Additionally, Handanovic, Eriksen, and Mertens also have excellent cards. From a German perspective, Latza from Mainz is included. Here is the TOTW 14:
The ratings and player values of the “Team of the Week” players – Week 14
Starting XI:
GK: Samir Handanović – Inter (Italy) – Slovenia
CB: Christophe Kerbrat – En Avant Guingamp (France) – France
LM: Paul Lanse – Montpellier HSC (France) – France
LF: Mathieu Valbuena – Olympique Lyonnais (France) – France
ST: Luciano Vietto – Sevilla FC (Spain) – Argentina
These players are available in packs from Wednesday at 7 PM until the following Wednesday, December 28, at 7 PM. After that, you can only purchase these special cards on the transfer market.
What is the TOTW anyway?
Every Wednesday, EA Sports reveals the Team of the Week in the “Ultimate Team” mode of their annual football simulation. This also applies to FIFA 17. Players who showed outstanding performances in real football over the past week are rewarded with special cards that have improved attributes.
You can draw the TOTW cards within a week from those packs that may contain Rare (Gold) players. However, the chance is considered low. Additionally, you can buy them in the transfer market if they are offered by other players. The prices are usually extremely high.
John Smedley, former CEO of SOE and Daybreak, is currently working on the indie MMO Hero’s Song – and urgently needs money.
The development of an MMORPG costs a lot of money. Especially small indie studios struggle to secure the necessary funding and are constantly looking for investors. John Smedley is currently in a similar situation. The MMORPG Hero’s Song entered early access in early November and has been playable via Steam since then. However, it has since gone quiet about the online game.
Startups spend a large part of their time securing more funding
John Smedley, CEO of the development studio Pixelmage, has now spoken out. He apologizes that there hasn’t been an update for so long. However, for such a small studio working on such an ambitious project, one must always take the time to look for new funding sources. They are currently dealing with some of these issues, but cannot discuss them. Smedley asks for understanding and patience. There is simply not much to say at the moment. More information will follow.
Create your own worlds
Hero’s Song is a 2D MMORPG that can also be played solo. You either create your own world from the start based on the choices you make, or you play in the worlds of other players. The graphics resemble a mix of Japanese RPGs and Ultima Online. Fighting enemies – either alone or in a group – is the focus. Essentially, you create your own story in the world, with very few quests available.

Glitches and exploits are part of the game, so you can use them. Or can you? Perhaps it ruins the fun of the game forever.
The glitch, this shy and charming little error, is often found here in its natural habitat, the video game. Often amusing to watch, this quirky creature entertains its viewer. If you approach it cautiously, it maintains its humorous, lively appearance. However, if you invade its habitat, the tables turn. The amusing digital pastime reveals itself, through the help of greedy players, as an exploit.
But joking aside. Glitches, bugs, and exploits are as old as their habitat. Hardly a game where there isn’t a hole in the texture somewhere, polygons have twisted, or a background calculation doesn’t work as the developer intended. Even in one of my early favorite games, Mega lo Mania for the Amiga 500, there were exploits.
Back then, it became clear what consequences the exploitation of such a bug could have on my personal enjoyment of the game. Of course, I won’t give any hints on how it was done, but in Mega lo Mania, you could save your troops from destruction. And, who would have thought, this possibility quickly spread on the playground among the interested parties.
Fun ruined by a cheat.
Lost fun in Doom and Mega lo Mania due to cheating
In the coming days, the success reports surged, and a week later, all my friends had “successfully” completed the nine levels of the game. So did I. Since that moment, I have never played Mega lo Mania again. Today, I have the feeling that I did not actually finish the game and never completed it. Morally, I did not question this situation back then.
The key combination “idkfa” accompanied me in my youth; otherwise, I probably wouldn’t still remember it by heart today. Because idkfa is an almost legendary cheat code for the first Doom game. It allowed all weapons and keys to be unlocked. In retrospect, the game entertained me better and for longer without a cheat. Ultimately, every game that allowed me to enter God mode with the help of a cheat quickly lost its appeal. But back then, there were already large community sites where cheats and save states could be exchanged.
Unfortunately, the little beloved glitch that once ruined Mega lo Mania for me has grown up and is increasingly appearing in multiplayer games. It is often no longer in my decision whether I want to deprive myself of the gaming pleasure deliberately. These decisions are now made by more unethical players.
It’s a bit like someone running into the Harry Potter fan club and yelling “Dumbledore dies on page 631!” No crime, but certainly against club rules and not something that would usually be described as “socially acceptable”.
Exploiting bugs is part of everyday life in MMOs
Nowadays, unfortunately, it is not even considered a minor offense to exploit bugs in gameplay. En masse, artifact power in WoW is unfairly obtained, in Division, the Bullet King is beaten like a piñata, and in Overwatch, Reaper jumps into the fray even before the match starts. This is more than just annoying, but fortunately, is often quickly addressed by the respective developers.
Leveling artifact weapons takes a lot of power – exploiters like to take advantage of “little advantages”.
It becomes really uncomfortable, however, when it is already considered standard in instances to exploit bugs. In Guild Wars 2, for example, it was common practice to circumvent a large part of the trash mobs in the instance Twilight Garden. That it often took longer than mowing down the few followers of the Nightmare Court was almost irrelevant.
There was always an “elite” player who had to show that he could circumvent the game mechanics. Those who didn’t want to had to endure being called noobs and beginners in extreme cases. For me, this was once the reason to look for a guild that explicitly valued not supporting such behavior. The selection of corresponding guilds was shockingly small.
Exploiting glitches and exploits in MMOs has already become a “good tone” for many players.
Honesty is rarely rewarded in computer games today. Players who unfairly gain advantages seldom face harsh consequences. Temporary game bans and the revocation of illegitimate progress, often, the penalties are not much harsher. Rewarding honest players, on the other hand, is technically probably not very easy to implement.
Those who cheat to win have already lost
The motivation to use such errors is often simply to be “better” than other players in online games. But isn’t it just like in Doom? Doesn’t the game lose its appeal? And can you still appreciate your “own” performance, what you’ve achieved?
For me, this question does not arise, because I don’t want to take away the pleasure of the game from myself or others. But often I hear justifications like the developers should ensure that such gaps don’t occur. And at this point, it becomes clear that it is much more than just a mistake in the virtual world; it is a societal problem.
Even in Overwatch, cheaters and hackers are around. But can they be proud of themselves?
The shoe man had a nice comparison in the comments recently. Essentially: Knowing about an exploit and therefore using it because you know about it is somewhat like robbing a supermarket because you’ve read that others already robbed the market and escaped with the loot. The logical consequence would be that we all meet in front of the supermarket tonight with ski masks.
The problem is not the games, but us, the players
It is not necessarily the state’s job to make supermarkets “raid-proof”. Banks and supermarkets are always trying to, but absolute security will never be achieved. Here, society is called upon to create a moral environment in which robberies are not tolerated.
Ultimately, in my view, misconduct should not be justified by developers’ errors in computer games; each player is truly only responsible for his own actions.
This can only mean: do not exploit. To make users aware that you do not agree with their actions, and to promptly inform developers about corresponding vulnerabilities. This sounds moral, if not even naive. Black sheep will probably not be prevented. Those who want to cheat will always find a way. But perhaps we all can keep the enjoyment of the game a little longer than I did back in Mega lo Mania if we don’t throw all our moral values out the window when dealing with exploits.
What do you think? Do you have a moral code that you follow in multiplayer games?
There is not much time left until the eighth season of Diablo 3 ends and you can conquer the leaderboards in the new Season 9.
At the end of this month, Season 8 of Diablo 3 will end. Most of what you have earned during this season can be kept. Your heroes will be transformed into non-seasonal heroes and will remain playable in the normal mode. We will show you here how the end of a season affects players and their items, gold, and characters.
End of Season 8 in Diablo 3
In Europe, the eighth season of Diablo 3 ends on December 30 at 5:00 PM. Until then, you have time to rank up on the leaderboards or achieve other goals. What items and rewards can you keep from this season?
Your seasonal heroes will be transformed into non-seasonal heroes as previously mentioned.
All gold that you have at the end of the season will be transferred to the non-seasonal heroes.
Paragon experience will be transferred. However, you will not receive credit for every level but for the experience points earned. (Example: If you reached Paragon level 200 in the season and your non-seasonal Paragon level is at 500, then your new level will not be 700. It will be below 700 because you need more experience points for the higher Paragon levels.)
Blood Shards will be transferred to non-seasonal heroes just like gold. The maximum value can be exceeded to ensure that no shards are lost.
Items: The equipped items and those in your inventory will remain with this character. Items from the seasonal loot chest will be sent to non-seasonal heroes via the mail system.
Craftsmen and recipes will be adjusted to the highest level. If you have found new recipes, non-seasonal craftsmen will learn them.
Slots from the loot chest will be added to the non-seasonal loot chest if you have not yet unlocked them there.
Achievements, that you have achieved during the season will be added directly to your non-seasonal profile upon earning the achievement.
Unlocked legendary properties on Kanais Cube, will be available on non-seasonal characters after the season. At the start of a new season, Kanai’s Cube will be reset for seasonal characters.
Rewards for Season 8 in Diablo IIIare transmogrifications for pants and boots. These become available to you immediately upon reaching level 70 with a seasonal character. There is also a special portrait and exclusive wings for completing certain chapters of the Seasonal Journey.
Start of Season 9 in Diablo 3
The ninth season of Diablo 3 will start in January. In Europe, it begins on January 6 at 5:00 PM. The patch notes for patch 2.4.3, which will be activated shortly before the start of the season, will show you, for example, the rewards of the Seasonal Journey.
Are you ready for Season 9 in Diablo 3, or do you prefer to play in non-seasonal mode?
In the MMO shooter Destiny, we show you 5 types of PvP players that you have all encountered in the Crucible.
Now for a fun video: From Venero TV, we have received a compilation of PvP players that everyone knows – and hates. Although this is a topic that usually causes bad moods and high blood pressure, these special “types of PvP players” are presented in the video with a good dose of humor. See for yourself:

The Hardscoper: First, this Guardian specimen is mentioned, which often travels in packs. The Hardscoper does not move from the spot but waits with the sniper for you to run directly into his sights. Then he strikes!
The Invisible: This is the invisible Hunter, who usually sneaks up with a shotgun in hand, driving the “pump shotty” gameplay to new heights.
The Super-User: Here we have a Guardian who uses the Super recklessly. This natural phenomenon can particularly be observed with Storm Titans, where the Super becomes the “panic fist”. Even when the enemy has minimal health left, the Super is activated immediately.
The Shotgun: Now a problem that can largely be attributed to the current meta: The strong presence of shotguns. Some Guardians seem to know no other weapon anymore. Occasionally, the shotgun is also used to snipe opponents from a distance.
The Lagger: Finally, we have the lagger, who makes his presence felt in nearly every match and occurs quite frequently. He is characterized by his ability to teleport, shoot through walls, and take no damage himself.
The video mentions “only” 5 types of PvP players – however, the list can certainly be expanded further. Therefore, now it’s your turn: Which types of PvP players in Destiny particularly annoy you?
Final Fantasy XIV is getting a big new expansion soon: Stormblood. To ensure you are well prepared for the new content, the main quest line of the upcoming update 3.5 also leads us towards the new region of Ala Mhigo. Additionally, there are new dungeons.
After the greatest threats in Final Fantasy 14 from the last updates have been dealt with, new tasks are needed for heroes. Fortunately, it’s about to continue, as the next big expansion Stormblood is on the horizon. To ensure your heroes are not thrown into the cold water, the main quests from the upcoming Patch 3.5 already guide you in the direction of the new addon.
Smoke on the Wall
The new story is clearly moving towards the addon region Ala Mhigo. However, there are still a few narrative threads waiting for closure in the old areas. This should happen in Patch 3.5. In addition to the story quests, there will be group content once again in Update 3.5. For example, something is stirring on the ominous wall “Baelsar’s Wall”.
This dark fortress has stood still for a long time, but now smoke is rising again from the towers and outbuildings on the wall. Your heroes need to get up on the wall and see what is happening. The second dungeon is the well-known instance Sohm Al, which is now available in hard mode. The two new dungeons and the story elements should hopefully satiate the content hunger of Final Fantasy XIV players long enough until further updates and finally the addon Stormblood is released.
Information about Stormblood is expected around Christmas. 3.5 will be released in two parts: The first in January, the second in March.
For the fantasy MMORPG Black Desert there are first images of the new region Kamasilve.
In Korea, they are already significantly further along than we are: The latest class Dark Knight, Dark Elf, has just been released there. Pearl Abyss is already presenting the new region Kamasilve. They plan to release it in several phases, just like Valencia before. The first part is set to launch in early 2017.
Kamasilve – the land of the Elves
Kamasilve is in Black Desert the land of the Elves, divided by a conflict between two tribes, but full of beautiful nature.
