In World of Warcraft, you can invest a lot of time – but even that must have limits, says the Game Director.
Last week, the Game Director of World of Warcraft, Ion Hazzikostas, answered many questions in a Q&A livestream with Community Manager Josh Allen. Later in the conversation, they also discussed the death of the major guilds (we reported on that yesterday) and the urge to want to collect more and more artifact power to gain that last point in the third decimal place as an advantage.
Hazzikostas states rather soberly that the game simply isn’t made for players to sink 80 hours or more into it every week.
“If you take a week off and plan “Yeah, next week I will play WoW from morning till night” – that’s okay. We want that to be possible, and there is a lot to do in the world.”
However, it becomes different when that time investment becomes the norm, as is the case with some professional guilds. They play extremely a lot to gain even the slightest advantage that is important in the race for first kills.
The guilds and players need to ask themselves more: Can and do I want to invest so much time in the game every week? Is it healthy, and is the time spent worth the rewards the game gives me?
The future path seems quite clear here. Blizzard does not plan to include an “end” for artifact power, as the new talent with 50 upgrade levels shows. However, the amount of artifact power needed will eventually become so large that “farming just for artifact power” won’t be worth it anymore.
The goal is to have artifact power as a “nice extra” that comes in addition to other rewards – or as a substitute when nothing good drops.
At For Honor and Ghost Recon Wildlands the servers are down tonight, February 25th. Players cannot log in, the Ubisoft servers are not reachable. There are disruptions and issues. What is the server status?
Since around 10 PM this Saturday, the servers of For Honor are having issues. Players initially reported that no rewards were coming after matches.
Ghost Recon Wildlands, For Honor – Server Status, Ribera-1000B
In the meantime, matchmaking fails every time – in all multiplayer modes. If you want to start For Honor, the login does not succeed. The message appears that the connection has failed. The servers are not reachable. One should try again later.
There are also server issues with Ghost Recon Wildlands, report some users. Currently, the Open Beta is running on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The error message Ribera-1000B.
The Division is also down – Ubisoft servers are having issues
Users are also complaining about server issues in The Division. There seems to be a bigger problem with Ubisoft.
In short: It is not your fault that you cannot access the game. It is due to the Ubisoft servers.
We currently have no information from Ubisoft. If there are any updates, we will refresh the article.
Update: Ubisoft has responded via Twitter. They are aware of some issues with the online services. They thank you for your patience.
Update 11:05 PM: Servers seem to be running again.
A Widowmaker professional faces off against a cheating copycat in Overwatch. Who wins the duel?
There are a handful of Overwatch players who really have it down. Every shot hits perfectly, every ability is optimally placed, and provides maximum benefit. This brings these players attention from viewers and the occasional tournament. It’s no wonder that some less skilled players want a piece of the attention pie and try to grab the crumbs in unfair ways.
Such was the case for professional player Kephrii last week during a livestream. He is one of the best Widowmaker players in the world with phenomenal reaction times. In a match, he faced off against an opponent who had taken the same Battle.net name and also played Widowmaker. The problem: He was obviously using an aimbot and a wallhack. In the death cams, it can be clearly seen every time how the crosshair perfectly sticks to the enemy hero, even when they are moving quickly and unpredictably.
An exciting match develops, where Kephrii duels the cheater-Kephrii and consistently comes out on top. You can watch the entire game on the Route 66 map in this video.

Even when the cheater switches to Tracer to ruin Kephrii’s day, the team remains calm. “One needs to switch to McCree” is the calm announcement, before even Tracer has to bite the virtual dust again and again.
The satisfaction at the end of the round is evident on Kephrii’s face, but it also gets a bit vulgar in the chat. But what can you say? Someone deserves it.
Once again, it has been shown that even with cheats, you can’t hold a candle to the professionals.
In For Honor, we provide tips for the Dominion mode. These roles should be taken on by your heroes.
If you throw yourselves blindly into the fray in Dominion mode, you will likely come home with a defeat. At the very least, you will not be helping your team if you stagger around the battlefield aimlessly.
To avoid this, you will find here some hints and tips on how you should play with your hero classes in Dominion.
Vanguards – The Shock Troops in Dominion
The Shock Troop warriors are the Warden, the Berserker, and the Kensei. They are balanced fighters who perform solidly in both attack and defense.
The Shock Troop warriors earn more glory in the 4v4 Dominion mode by defeating outnumbered opponents and taking out adds. With this glory, you unlock gifts that provide advantages in battle.
As Shock Troops you should:
Capture and hold the neutral zone (usually B)
Kill as many adds as possible
Engage enemy heroes who want to take the neutral zone
Only leave zone B when there is no danger and you need to assist at another zone
Recommended gifts are Collecting Corpses and Rally.
Assassins – The Assassins in Dominion
The Assassins in For Honor are quick and have a short range. They are particularly suited for counter-attacks. This class includes the Orochi, the Berserker, and the Peacekeepers.
They earn more glory for their gifts by eliminating heroes and executing kill streaks.
As Assassins you should:
Focus primarily on A and C – capturing them as quickly as possible
Defeat enemy heroes when they come at you one at a time
Retreat when the enemy heroes are in the majority
and not die to maintain your kill streaks.
For gifts, you should choose ones that benefit your speed and damage output.
Heavies – The Heavy Fighters in Dominion
Among the “heavy” fighters are the Conqueror, the Warlord, and the Shugoki. They come with strong defense and hit hard, but are slower than other classes.
You gain more glory for your gifts by supporting allies in battle and saving them. Additionally, there is more glory when you stand in and defend the zones.
As a Heavy you should:
Capture zones, stay in them, and hold them – ideally the zone near the enemy spawn
Prevent enemies from recapturing this zone
Utilize your high health to trigger revenge mode often
Only leave the zone when it is not in danger and allies nearby need support.
Your task is to be steadfast. Therefore, choose gifts that enhance your health, stamina, and defensive abilities.
Hybrids – The Hybrids in Dominion
The Hybrids are flexible, unique warriors, including the Lawbringer, the Valkyrie, and the Nobushi.
Since the Hybrids can fulfill many roles, you should deploy them where they are needed – and where there might be a lack.
The Lawbringer can fill the roles of the Shock Troop warriors and Heavies,
the Valkyrie the roles of the Assassins and Heavies
and the Nobushi the roles of the Assassins and Shock Troop warriors.

Today, on February 25th, the Bundesliga players were revealed who will receive better or worse ratings as part of the Ratings Refresh. The Ratings Refresh replaces the “Winter Upgrades” that existed in previous years. In 2017, there are upgrades and downgrades.
Blizzard’s success with Overwatch continues – the hero shooter wins a total of 4 titles at the DICE Awards.
By now, it should be clear to everyone that Overwatch has made quite a significant impact in the shooter scene. Many gaming magazines referred to Blizzard’s hero shooter as “the new standard” in this genre upon release, and the game is now being showered with more and more awards.
As was the case this time at the DICE Awards ceremony in Las Vegas, held immediately after the DICE Summit, where Jeff Kaplan also gave a presentation.
Overwatch is the shining winner and took home the coveted title in a total of four categories:
Action Game of the Year
Outstanding Achievement in Online Gameplay
Outstanding Achievement in Game Design
and the main title Game of the Year
Other winners include titles like Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (Outstanding Achievement in Animation, Outstanding Achievement in Story, Outstanding Technical Achievement, and Adventure Game of the Year) and Dark Souls 3 (Role-Playing Game of the Year).
However, the development of Overwatch is far from over. The developers regularly add new events featuring skins, maps, and heroes. Currently, the 24th hero is “in announcement”, which is expected in the coming weeks.
Our author Schuhmann takes a look at old news from Bungie about Destiny and notes: They have three days left to release a new expansion.
December 2015. At that time, the mood around Destiny was at its peak. However, it was slowly starting to tip.
In September 2015, the Destiny world was still in order
In September 2015, “The Taken King” was released, by far the best expansion for Destiny up to that point.
TKK kept the Guardians engaged for over 6 weeks into November. Even hardcore players, who spent every free minute in Destiny, found something new every week, as certain things only went live gradually. Puzzles arose, were solved – the Black Spindle, the mysterious basketball room in the raid, the Sleeper Simulant. When would the remaining Exotics finally arrive?
There was a lot going on. From September to November 2015, Destiny was THE topic in the gaming world.
Already in December 2015, things started to wane a bit
Then in mid-November, the euphoria settled. Even the best hype eventually passes. Nothing new came, and the first said: “Now the next DLC could actually come. When will they announce it?”
Probably in December 2015, everyone thought. Then was the PlayStation Experience. Bungie would surely announce the season pass, the new DLCs for 2016, and much more! Fat chance.
There was only a Sparrow event and nothing else. No schedule, no DLC, no word about Destiny 2. Nothing that indicated how Destiny would continue in 2016.
At that time, when many were disappointed by the PlayStation Experience, the marketing chief of Destiny, Eric Osborne, stepped forward. He realized, like many others, that the mood was tipping, and Osborne said: 2016 will be great! We are working on things.
The days of waiting five months for new content are over
Osborne said: Some feared that Bungie would now deliver nothing substantial until they release the next “full Game”. The fear is that there would only be “events”. Osborne contradicted this. Bungie is also planning real content.
They have so much in store for Year 2. A whiteboard is in one of the meeting rooms full of notes, scribbles, and sticky notes filled with new events and activities. The days of waiting five months and ten days for new content like in Year 1 are over. Now they have a new plan.
Last year, we all waited five months and ten days between content drops after December. This year, the plan is to deliver new experiences at a faster clip.
So, let’s take the marketing chief at his word. If we now look at the calendar: Rise of Iron, the last content, was released on September 20, 2016. Since then, apart from “The Dawning” no new content has been released: 158 days.
The date Osborne referred to was the interval between “The Dark Below”, the 1st DLC, and “House of Wolves”, the 2nd DLC – that was 161 days.
Bungie, you have three days left
This means Bungie has exactly three days left to release new content. And one may doubt that they can pull it off. In the last weekly update it was said that maybe next Thursday we will get a roadmap for March. With the next game content, one might expect it at the end of March or mid-April.
So we will have to wait even longer for new content than back in that terrible time that should never happen again. Sometime at the beginning of Year 1.
With all due respect, Year 2 was, no matter what Bungie promised back then, a disappointment due to the postponement of Destiny 2. Today we know that all the concerns Guardians had in December 2015 have come true: Destiny has had far too little substantial content since then. The information policy has even worsened. Now we haven’t received any information since then that they might regret. And everything seems to be waiting for the release of the next “full Game”.
Year 3 does not look good so far. It is already halfway through and almost nothing has happened.
Unless you really count “The Dawning” as a full-fledged content drop. But oh my, “The Dawning” brought recycled strikes and a few new features. That is even further from a content drop than the Prison of Elders – and that was already really thin.
It has long been evident that the concept of “events” and a live team, which can change and expand features but hardly deliver anything new, simply does not work.
You can only keep players engaged to a certain extent with re-skins, shiny ships, sandbox updates, and glowing weapons; then they want the promised substantial new content.
If nothing happens in the next three days, then we have a new record … but not one of the good kind.
We address further consequences of the content drought in this article:
Today, Patch v255 for PC is being released in ARK Survival Evolved. The update brings new dinosaurs to the survival MMO and new technologies.
The new Patch v255 is expected to be released today for PC, providing survivors with new content. It is still unknown when the patch will be available for PS4 and Xbox One.
Ark Survival Evolved: Patch v255 – German Time and Date
When will update v255 be released on PC? Patch v255 will be available today, February 25th, around midnight our time. So in the night from Saturday to Sunday.
Patchnotes Update v255 – This content is added to ARK
The dinosaurs are expanded, along with new Tek structures and more cosmetics for head and hair.
Electrophorus, Microraptor, Ammonite, Thylacoleo – what the new dinos can do
New dinosaurs:
Electrophorus – a type of eel used to tame large dinosaurs with electric shocks
Microraptor – these raptors are meant to attack dino-riders, as they ignore the dinosaur and go straight for the rider
Ammonite – an interesting resource, dinosaurs nearby defend it when survivors try to “harvest” it
Thylacoleo – a carnivorous marsupial that can be used as a mount for rough terrain
New structures:
Tek Shield Generator
Tek Tileset & Tek Doors
Cosmetic items:
4 new hair options (available through Explorer Notes)
4 new face options (available through Explorer Notes)
Limit (400 dinosaurs) for tamed animals in tribes
Tribes can now own only up to 400 tamed dinosaurs on PC. This applies to official PvE servers. Tribes with more than 400 tamed dinosaurs currently will not lose their dinosaurs. They cannot take in new dinosaurs until they drop below the limit of 400 dinosaurs.
The full patch notes will be released by Studio Wildcard as soon as the patch is live. We will keep you updated.
Are you excited about the new dinosaurs and new Tek technologies?

In For Honor , you can gain advantages in combat with Guard Break Counter and Parry. We provide tips on how to do it right.
In For Honor, you must first familiarize yourself with the basics of the combat system, with the “Art of Battle.” How do I block attacks, how do I initiate an attack, what buttons do I need to press?
Once you master the basics and automate them, you should learn your hero’s combos and special attacks. You can find them in the provided link. This gives you a solid skill base to win many fights.
But there are also advanced combat techniques that are taught to you in-game during advanced training. However, one technique, the Guard Break Counter is explained incorrectly.
Guard Break Counter in For Honor – How to counter the Guard Break
First: What is the Guard Break?
You perform the Guard Break on the PS4 with Square and on the Xbox One with X. This will break through the opponent’s defense and make them defenseless for a short time. Now you can pound on them or throw them off the cliff.
If the opponent attempts a Guard Break, you can counter it with a dodge or a quick attack. If there’s no time for either, there’s still a way to defend against the Guard Break.
This is where the “Guard Break Counter” comes into play. According to the in-game tutorial, you should press the Guard Break button as a counter when the opponent initiates a Guard Break. You can recognize this because a red symbol, a broken shield, is displayed on the enemy:
However, if you press the button at that moment when the symbol appears, you won’t stop the opponent. The counter fails. If you wait too long, the counter will also fail. So when should you press the button?
Your hero reliably executes the Guard Break Counter when you press the button as soon as the opponent touches you with the Guard Break. This is roughly when the red symbol on the enemy disappears. In this short video, you can see the right moment:

Ubisoft plans to adjust the “Guard Break Counter” in a future update. It should work as it is explained in the in-game tutorial.
Parrying in For Honor
Parrying is also one of the advanced techniques. Unlike blocking, parrying offers you the advantage of pushing the opponent back a bit and transitioning directly to an attack.
You parry by deflecting an opponent’s attack with a Heavy Attack from you: As soon as the opponent attacks, the arrow turns red. If this red arrow blinks once, immediately press the corresponding button for the Heavy Attack. Additionally, hold the stick in the direction from which the attack is coming. This causes the swords to clash and the opponent gets pushed back.

With the “Guard Break Counter” and Parrying, one thing is crucial: The right timing. Therefore, you should practice both in tutorials or in matches against your buddies before using them in tough battles out there.
There is news from the Korean MMORPG Bless. It is supposed to enter beta here in Germany and Europe in 2017.
Bless is a Korean MMORPG. Currently, Aeria Games, a German publisher, is working on the port for us in the West. There is more information in an interview with Mmoexaminer:
A first beta test for Bless here in Europe is planned for “sometime in 2017”, that is, sometime in 2017.
Aeria Games has been in contact with the developers for a long time but asks the fans for patience. It takes time to deliver a high-quality game. Currently, they are still discussing some core features and aspects related to the engine with the developers.
The plan is to implement voiceover for English and other languages (like German) – that is, voice acting.
When the European version is released, it should be at a more advanced state than the current Korean version. Developer Neowiz is currently working on a lot of things for both their version and ours.
This means, for example, that all classes that are currently playable in Korea will also be playable in Germany at launch.
Aeria Games plans “regional events”, such as an Oktoberfest for their version of Bless in the West. They have had good experiences with this in other games.
The Korean version will likely always be ahead of our version – as is common with Asian titles. However, they believe they can keep that lead relatively small. After all, Bless was designed with Europe in mind.

Bless had no great success in Korea. The combat system is said to have been difficult, neither fish nor fowl. The graphics are great, music and sound as well. But that alone does not make a strong game. Therefore, Aeria Games is probably hesitant to bring the game to the market here in its current state. They will fear that it simply won’t work here.
The restructuring of Bless is probably still in full swing in Korea – that explains the long silence. It is always a difficult sign when an MMORPG has to undergo such restructuring after release: In some cases, it works – like with The Elder Scrolls Online. In other cases, it goes terribly wrong, like with WildStar.
One can be curious about what eventually comes out of Bless. Time is critical with such Asia ports. No one here in the West is interested in playing a game two or three years after the Asia release. Other games and publishers have painfully learned this lesson.
In the video, Refaser presents the action RPG MU Legend. How do you feel about the combination of MMO and hack and slay?
MU Legend combines the hack and slay gameplay mechanics with MMO elements. How this combination feels can currently be experienced by you, as the game is in a closed beta phase, which is even fully available in German. In the video, Refaser shares his impressions of the closed beta of MU Legend.
MU Legend closed Beta Test
For a few days now, you can participate in the closed beta of MU Legend, which is still active until February 28. The successor to MU Online shows you various aspects during this test phase, such as Rifts or level systems. Refaser shows us in this video how the beta feels so far and what his impression of the game is. So if you haven’t tried the game yet, you might already form an opinion here and decide whether the game suits you.

The cut-scenes that appear during gameplay are positively striking and enhance the game. At the beginning, there is a tutorial, during which your chosen class has already reached a high level and has many skills. This gives you insight into the endgame of the respective character. However, after the tutorial, everything is reset to zero, and you start leveling and equipping the character. Various builds are available to you, which can be specialized in single-target or area damage, depending on your playstyle.
From around level 10, you have enough skills that provide variety while leveling. You use these skills either for the main story missions or for side quests that are spread across the areas of MU Legend. You will also find dungeons or “Rifts” there, where you can select the difficulty yourself. You can tackle these alone or with up to five players. In summary, this test phase made a good impression on Refaser.
How do you like the closed beta of MU Legend? Does the beta phase meet your expectations?
The Clever Dragon has been a force in the crucible of Destiny in recent months. With 2.5.0.2 came the crash.
When the November Iron Banner started in 2016, the golden months of the Clever Dragon began. This beast is a fast-firing pulse rifle that could be controlled with Perfect Balance and Balance Compensation, dealing decent damage to opponents with High-Caliber Rounds. That was pretty much the “God Roll” that was eagerly chased in the November Iron Banner.
Together with the Grasp of Malok – also a fast-firing pulse rifle – the Clever Dragon occupied the primary weapon slot in PvP for a long time. As a special weapon, the Guardian also packed the Matador 64, and you had all the necessary weapons that defined the meta.
However, with the update 2.5.0.2, the wings of the Clever Dragon were significantly clipped. A look at the statistics page guardian.gg shows that the dragon is now in free fall. Hardly any Guardian relies on this former monster anymore:
Upper line: Rank. Lower line: % of all kills
2.5.0.2 hit the Clever Dragon hard
The Clever Dragon was one of the biggest victims of the many nerfs from 2.5.0.2. The rate of fire was reduced by 7.7%, the magazine was decreased by 6 shots, and the effect of High-Caliber Rounds was also weakened for pulse rifles. The optimal time-to-kill increased due to the reduced rate of fire from 0.8 to 0.87 seconds.
In short: The Clever Dragon was severely nerfed. In the upper graphic, you can see that it was consistently among the most dominant weapons (mostly in 2nd place, behind Matador 64). Since February 14, it has been on a steep decline. It no longer appears on any leaderboard.
Does the Dragon now need to gather dust in the vault?
However, the Dragon wasn’t a weapon for the trash bin. It is still a competitive weapon that can secure nice kills. The Clever Dragon is no longer feared by any means, but it can still pack a punch, as the YouTuber Unknown Player demonstrates in the video:

Nevertheless: Hand cannons and auto rifles (and NLB) have overtaken pulse rifles in the primary slot. And if pulse rifle, then players are more likely to opt for the Iron Saws archetype. The golden days of the Clever Dragon are over.
The new Pokémon GO update 0.57.3 aims to fix some performance issues of the game.
A new patch for Pokémon GO is on its way to our smartphones. The update 0.57.3 for Android and 1.27.3 for iOS is currently in the roll-out phase and will soon be available in the App and Google Store. Roll-out means that this update will be gradually released in different countries and regions. Changes include improved performance of the game.
So there is still no official release date for Germany.
Patchnotes 0.57.3 Android / 1.27.3 iOS
The new update for Pokémon GO will not be as extensive as the last update 0.57.2, which activated over 80 new Pokémon from the second generation in the game. On Twitter, the developers announced the new patch 0.57.3, which is said to bring performance improvements. Unusually, there are no patch notes for this one. However, performance improvements are important, as trainers have reported bugs and issues with the game.
In recent days, players have repeatedly reported problems with this app, which partially crashed, displayed a white screen, or consumed many resources like RAM and battery. Particularly on iOS devices, crashes occurred more frequently, which hopefully will be resolved by this patch. Further issues with Apple devices occurred when connecting the app with the Apple Watch. Here, trainers also experienced frequent crashes that made playing with the Watch impossible.
We will learn what else changes are included when the professionals from TheSilphRoad analyze and evaluate the 0.57.3 APK. Possible additional changes may be related to the Pokémon Day, which will be celebrated starting tomorrow evening in Pokémon GO with a special Pikachu. With a bit of luck, we might expect shiny Pokémon, which have been a part of the Pokémon GO code for weeks but have not yet been activated.
The Game Director remains calm about the decline of the known guilds in World of Warcraft. “This has always happened,” he notes.
In recent months, more and more guilds in World of Warcraft have thrown in the towel. Many stopped for personal reasons, but a large part did so because they no longer want to invest the grind and effort needed to compete at the top – especially without receiving any incentives for it. We have already reported on the “mass extinction” of the large guilds.
In the Developer Q&A with Game Director Ion Hazzikostas and Community Manager Jost “Lore” Allen, this topic was also discussed – a user asked what they think about the cessation of large guilds. Hazzikostas responded to the question quite calmly and explained that guilds in World of Warcraft have always “died.”
Even in Classic or during the Sunwell Plateau of “The Burning Crusade,” there have always been loud voices stating: “The guilds are dying and it’s Blizzard’s fault!”
Hazzikostas attributes the “blame” more to the officers and guild leaders. They are the ones who hold a guild together and often have to invest a lot of time and nerves to keep the guild running. He refers to them as the “lifeblood” of a guild. However, when officers and guild leaders do this job for several years, there comes a time when they realize that they don’t have enough free time to lead a guild as they once could.
A significant portion of the players would then simply look for another guild and continue – just under a new name.
Some players might just want to play a different game after 10 years or generally reduce their consumption of video games. This has always existed and will always exist as long as there are guilds in World of Warcraft.
However, Hazzikostas does not dismiss the problems with grinding artifact power. “The fact that so much artifact power could be farmed through the Maw was a mistake that we will fix.”
More about the changes to artifact weapons and artifact power in Patch 7.2 can be found here:
The map “Numbani” in Overwatch has been drastically changed. The Doomfist has been stolen and the airport is devastated.
Just yesterday, there was a new message on the Overwatch Twitter channel that an “unknown attacker” had caused chaos at the Numbani airport by destroying several OR15 robots. It was particularly striking that one of the robots was smashed into the wall with tremendous force – a force that speculated directly on the use of the Doomfist.
This very suspicion has now been confirmed, as the Numbani map has indeed been adjusted as shown in the “Breaking News”. The airport terminal is destroyed and the remains of the destroyed robots are scattered everywhere.
At the same time, however, a much more important detail of the map has been added. The payload, the cargo from Numbani, no longer contains the Doomfist. The protective glass has been shattered and the glove has been taken.
However, Jeff Kaplan has already made it very clear that the next hero will not be Doomfist – whoever currently holds that glove. Instead, it is becoming increasingly likely that the young genius Efi Oladele will create a new robot that will be Hero Number 24.
Doomfist would then presumably follow as Hero Number 25, but much later in the year.
Overwatch: Will Season 4 bring the new hero?
Fans are eagerly awaiting the start of Season 4, as the beginning of this traditionally comes with a new patch that will likely bring a new hero to Overwatch.

Blizzard is taking it seriously and will soon launch the “Overwatch League” to enable players to have a life as professionals.
At the last BlizzCon 2016, Blizzard not only presented numerous details about upcoming game content but also made a fairly big announcement. They aim to establish one of the largest eSports leagues, specifically for their in-house shooter Overwatch. The “Overwatch League” is designed so that each team represents a major city while providing security for team owners as well as players.
This means that players will sign contracts regulating their compensation and benefits. The goal is to offer “esports as a real career option for the best players in the world” and to maintain this for years to come.
At BlizzCon, the rough system of the league was presented, which is also explained in detail in a German video. You can check it out here:

The “Overwatch eSports Director” Nate Nanzer has confirmed in a Korean interview that the league aims to finally kick off in the third quarter of 2017 – that is, this summer.
“In the beginning, games will be held in large stadiums in a region. With enough teams and the right infrastructure, you will be able to enjoy the Overwatch League in stadiums near your home. Furthermore, the finals of the Overwatch League will not take place at BlizzCon but will be held in a new city each year.”
Although the leagues are roughly based on regions (Europe, America, Asia, etc.), players and their teams can mix.
Since patch OB 44, the Paladins community has been complaining about the new system and high prices. Hi-Rez is responding and significantly reducing the costs.
In the past few days, complaints among Paladins players have been significant. Patch OB 44 brought a new card system and a new currency to pay for cards. In addition to the regular cards, legendary cards have been added to the hero shooter, giving champions powerful attributes. All cards are now unlocked with the currency Essence, which can only be obtained through loot boxes via duplicate cards.
The loot boxes can be unlocked with gold, which can be earned in-game. However, the prices of the legendary cards were so high that players feared Paladins would turn into a Pay2Win game. Because the loot boxes are available with crystals, Paladins’ real money currency, in addition to gold.
Hi-Rez listens to the community – How the system will be adjusted
Hi-Rez is now responding to the disappointed feedback from the community and adjusting the new system and its prices. Lead designer “Drybear” announces the changes via Twitter.

The costs of legendary cards will be reduced from 18,000 Essence to 12,000 Essence. Players who have already unlocked legendary cards at the old price will receive the Essence back. In future updates, the balance of the cards will be monitored and adjusted accordingly.
Duplicates & Disenchanting
The amount of Essence received from duplicate cards from the Radiant Chest will increase from 60 to 250 Essence. Additionally, Hi-Rez is considering more ways for players to obtain gold and Essence. One possibility would be to destroy cards that players do not want in order to receive Essence.
Progress for new players
Hi-Rez aims to encourage new players and ensure they receive new cards at an acceptable pace. In the future, players will receive 1,000 Essence for achieving a milestone. Furthermore, new special achievements will be added for which players can earn Essence. One example would be receiving 12,000 Essence for the first created loadout deck.
First win of the day
The gold that can be earned for the first win of the day increases from 300g to 450g.
“Mastery Level” rewards for pre-OB44 players
For each champion, players can achieve Mastery Level. Recently, players receive a Radiant Chest for reaching levels 1, 2, 3, 4, and 10. Players who were already active before OB 44 should receive these chests retroactively. This amounts to approximately 100,000,000 Radiant Chests. The chests have not yet been fully delivered. It was simply too much for Hi-Rez’s servers. On the day of the patch, the servers crashed as they issued 100x chests per minute.
Hi-Rez wants to solve the problem by directly giving players Essence instead of Radiant Chests. Players who are still waiting for their chests will now receive 2250 Essence for each missing chest. Additionally, there is 750 Essence for every player who activated a booster since the live launch of OB 44.
Hi-Rez apologizes to players
Hi-Rez apologizes for the inconveniences. They regret the miscalculation. The studio emphasizes that they never intended to create an impossible grind for players. Hi-Rez thanks the players for their patience and for thefeedback. They aim to find the right balance together with the community in upcoming patches.
Hi-Rez is currently working on the next major patch OB 45 and plans to release the patch notes next week.
In Paladins, a new system has been introduced that players do not like. The community is upset about the prices of essences and legendary cards. Here you can learn more.
Recently, patch OB 44 went live in Paladins. It came earlier than expected. Hi-Rez stated that this was due to technical problems with the PTR. Actually, OB 44 was supposed to be tested on that for a few more days.
The patch brought along list of bugs that made playing nearly impossible. However, the bugs are not the problem that is currently upsetting the community.
Rather, it is about the new system, which introduced legendary cards and essence. In Paladins, players can upgrade their champions using cards and customize abilities. Hi-Rez aimed to achieve even more strategy and individualization of the playing style with legendary cards.
The old system was considered fair
Before patch OB 44, players unlocked all cards with gold gained from chests and rewards. The chests could be earned or unlocked with crystals. Crystals are Paladins’ real money currency. Even if one did not use crystals to obtain the cards, the additional time invested was still manageable and fair. Once a card appeared that the player already owned, they received gold for the duplicate.
The recent changes introduced a third currency, essence. Since OB 44, essence is needed to unlock cards. Players now receive essence for duplicate cards from the chests. Chests are now unlockable for 2,500 gold.
Essence is needed for both regular cards and legendary cards.
The new card system is too expensive for players
Legendary cards are significantly stronger than regular ones and equip heroes with powerful attributes. However, legendary cards cost so much essence that it takes a long time to unlock all of them.
The calculation looks as follows:
Even if one has already unlocked all regular cards per champion, one still needs 36,000 essence to obtain all legendary ones. This means a total of 756,000 essence for all champions. A single legendary card costs 18,000 essence. For duplicate cards, there are 60 essence.

Especially new players find it more difficult to get into the game. Old players often have already unlocked all regular cards or a large portion of them. But even they will have to invest a lot of time to obtain the legendaries. Many players were originally excitedabout the new system with the legendary cards. Players are not upset about the system itself, but about the prices.
Paladins lead designer “Drybear” recently tweeted: “We have heard your feedback and will bring some updates.”

Blizzard continues to excite fans for the next hero of Overwatch . An attack by an “Unknown” has destroyed parts of Numbani.
In recent days, more and more details about the next hero of Overwatch have come to light. A while ago, Blizzard published a fictional interview with the young, talented inventor Efi Oladele, predicting a bright future for her in robotics. The “new OR15 units” were also mentioned for the first time there – machines to defend humanity.
These very machines are now the focal point of the latest teaser released by Blizzard. On Twitter, they report “Breaking News” that has literally “broken” some things.

According to reports, the airport in Numbani has been largely devastated.
“Units of the OR15 model were destroyed during a confrontation with an unknown attacker at the airport in Numbani. No civilian casualties have been reported.”
An exciting detail is that the photo shown at the bottom right has a source citation – Efi Oladele. Apparently, she was live at the airport and wanted to embark on her great journey that was teased in the interview. The purpose of this attack remains unknown.
Given how strongly one of the robots was slammed into the wall, it is quite conceivable that Doomfist was used to smash the OR15 so deeply into the wall.
However, Doomfist will not be the next hero, as Jeff Kaplan has already confirmed. So we are not much wiser than before after this image – unless you spot hidden details that we have missed?
As Blizzard continues to bring more teasers and information, the next hero could drop in a few weeks – perhaps at the start of Season 4.
