Final Fantasy XIV is not only a successful online role-playing game, it is also the backdrop for a heartwarming TV series called “Daddy of Light” from Japan. No wonder the series in turn serves as the backdrop for the latest TV commercials for FF 14.
Final Fantasy 14 is one of the few online role-playing games that can successfully hold its ground in the subscription MMORPG market alongside the big boss World of Warcraft, and the game is particularly successful in Japan. Therefore, there is in the Land of the Rising Sun a TV series called “Daddy of Light” about a father and his son who come closer through Final Fantasy 14.
Now the circle is complete, and Square Enix is using the series in new commercials to promote Final Fantasy 14.

Final Fantasy 14 – Daddy of Light – Cheesy but heartfelt
The TV series Daddy of Light is about a son and his 60-year-old father. Both find each other in Final Fantasy 14. In the game, the father and son can grow closer and build a deep connection.
The series is already available in Japan and is set to be released worldwide on the video streaming service Netflix this fall. By the way, the series is based on the true experiences of a blogger.
https://youtu.be/vMp5gIJYD2E
The success of the series is convenient for the FF-14 developers at Square Enix. Therefore, the two latest commercials for the online role-playing game were also filmed against the backdrop of the series.
In the video, you will see the father-son duo first in everyday life and later as heroes in the online role-playing game. Unfortunately, the videos are only available in Japanese.
What do you think of the idea of a family drama series about Final Fantasy 14 or other MMORPGs? Would you like to see such a series about, for example, WoW or The Elder Scrolls Online? Or do you think that’s cheesy and embarrassing? Let us know in the comments.
It looks like a new western MMORPG with a large fantasy license behind it could be emerging. Some indications suggest that Cryptic Studios (Star Trek Online, Neverwinter) is working on a Magic: The Gathering MMO.
It is not official, but there are two clues floating around that say “New Magic: The Gathering MMORPG.”
Two clues fit well together and point to a Magic MMORPG
This rumor is fed by two sources that a user on NeoGaf has compiled.
Source 1 is a statement from Hasbro from January 2017. They say, “We want to release digital versions of our games – a reimagining.” As an example, they mention: How about throwing fireballs as a Planeswalker in an MMO?
Source 2: Is a job listing from Cryptic Studios on Gamasutra, seeking an Art Director, to develop the “next game of a generally acclaimed fantasy brand.” All we know about the project is that it is “Top Secret” and represents Cryptic Studios’ attempt to push the boundaries of traditional MMORPGs. It runs under the title “Save the World, Be a Champion”.
Some believe and hope that it could be Magic: The Gathering that is being developed by Cryptic Studios. The brand likely has enough power. Magic: The Gathering is a well-known trading card game that has existed since 1993. Some novels have also been published that take place in this world.
In computer games, Magic never had a big breakthrough – many consider Blizzard’s successful online card game “Hearthstone” a simplified Magic: The Gathering. Hearthstone has earned a fortune since its release.
Many questions remain – MMO or MMORPG?
Ultimately, it is not yet certain whether it will indeed turn out to be a) an MMO and whether b) it could really be “Magic: The Gathering.” And even if a) and b) are true, there would still be the question c) whether it has anything to do with a card game and whether the mechanics are reflected in the game or if it is a classic fantasy MMORPG that “only” caters to the background of Magic: The Gathering.
Cryptic Studios could use a hit
Cryptic Studios could certainly use some fresh blood. City of Heroes was shut down a few years ago.
Currently, they have two somewhat aging MMORPGs, Star Trek Online and Champions Online, which they are just keeping afloat. Their other game “Neverwinter” is doing quite well and is constantly being developed, as we know.
If this really happens and Cryptic Studios puts money into it, we could be looking at the first new western AAA MMORPG since 2014. Back then, the unfortunate WildStar launched:
In Destiny 2, all abilities of the Dawnblade are known. This is a new subclass, a focus of the Warlock.
Destiny 2 will introduce three new focuses for the Guardians: The Dawnblade for the Warlock, the Sentinel for the Titan, and the Arcstrider for the Hunter. These are meant to replace the previous subclasses of the respective element.
The Dawnblade was the only new focus that could be played at the gameplay premiere. It will be the successor of the Sunsinger. Those who enjoyed self-reviving in Destiny 1 will have to forgo that in Destiny 2.
Instead, the Warlock with Solar focus now gets a flaming sword in hand when activating the super. With this sword, you can hover over enemies and rain down ranged attacks, called “Fire Phoenix Projectiles”, upon your foes.
All abilities of the Dawnblade
The design of the focus overview has changed significantly. On the right side, the Guardian is depicted in their super. On the left side, the focus nodes are categorized. In the middle, the symbol for the super takes up most of the space.
The super of the Dawnblade Warlock is called Daybreak. You activate it with the same buttons as in Destiny 1, which is L1+R1 on the PS4. While in the active super, you throw fire blades at your enemies with R1. About six attacks per super are possible. Daybreak is said to deal considerable damage to adds and bosses.
To the left of the super in the focus overview, the class-specific abilities are listed. These did not exist in Destiny 1. They are supposed to depend on the class, not the subclass. The Warlock has the ability to create a source of light that grants either healing or a damage boost while standing in it. Allies can also benefit from it while standing in the light. The Warlock needs to press and hold the circle button for this. In combat, this ability is shown alongside the grenade and melee as the third ability:
Above the super in the focus overview, the grenades are listed. These are identical to those of the Sunsinger: Solar Grenade, Firebolt Grenade, Fusion Grenade.
In the top right of the focus overview, there are four upgrades that mainly affect your gameplay in the air:
Phoenix Dive: Hold the circle button in the air to quickly descend and regenerate health.
Skyfire: While in active super, you deal explosive damage around you when you land on the ground from the air.
Risen Angel: When aiming with the weapon in the air, you hover in place for a short time. Precision damage extends this duration.
Igniting Touch: A powerful melee that ignites enemies and causes them to explode.

Below the super in the focus overview are the typical jump abilities of the Warlock: Focused Control, Focused Burst, and Balanced Glide.
And at the bottom right in the focus overview, you will find these focus nodes:
Firestarter: A powerful melee that deals damage to enemies and grants you increased movement and reload speed.
Wild Fire: You can attack enemies mid-air. You can fire weapons and throw grenades while hovering.
Everlasting Flames: Killing an enemy with the super extends its duration.
Blazing Dash: Press the circle button twice in the air to perform a dodge. Sounds like Dämmerbruch-Garnison.
Interestingly, these four abilities require exotic shards to unlock. Additionally, there are missing focus nodes that could directly influence armor, recovery, and agility.
Nexxoss Gaming goes over each focus node in this video:

What do you think of the Dawnblade? Are you excited about it, or are you rather disappointed that, for example, the grenades remain completely identical to year 1?
We have gathered all the information available so far about the anniversary event of Overwatch, the Anniversary Event, there is.
Starting from May 23, the next event kicks off in Overwatch. Blizzard’s hero shooter is celebrating its first birthday, and the developers have started releasing teasers here and there a few days ago. They are showing snippets of what the event will offer.
We have collected all the breadcrumbs and are trying to piece the loaf back together – at least for a rough overview of what the Overwatch event brings, it should suffice.
The anniversary of Overwatch takes place from May 23 to June 12.
Overwatch Anniversary Skins
An event should, of course, come with suitable new skins for the heroes. A few new costumes have already been introduced in a Twitter post. Here you can see the first Overwatch Anniversary Skins of Zarya, Bastion, Soldier: 76, and Lúcio.

Like skins, new emotes are also a fixed part of every major event. With a new type of emotes, Blizzard is following an old company tradition and is also adding dances in Overwatch. The first dance animations of Sombra, Lúcio, Zenyatta, and Symmetra have already been teased. Here’s a first impression:

The gameplay highlight of the anniversary event in Overwatch will likely be the new game mode. This is currently being called Arena, as Blizzard has exclusively created 3 arena maps for it.
These take place on the Temple of Anubis, Dorado, and Eichenwalde, each in a modified and thus significantly smaller form. What exactly this mode will entail is still open, but players can receive titles like “Gladiator,” “Challenger,” and others from the announcer voice Athena.

Aside from that, there are also some minor improvements to the game. With the introductory patch of the anniversary the classic loot boxes are getting revamped and new emotes will be added – Sombra and Orisa will receive a “Sitting” emote, for example.
In connection with the anniversary, there will also be a weekend where Overwatch can be played for free on all platforms. From May 26 (8:00 PM) to May 30 at 9:00 AM, everyone can check out the shooter for free. Anyone looking to recruit friends should take advantage of this time!
Starting tomorrow, on Monday, May 22, some players of The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) will have the chance to play the new expansion Morrowind. But when does the launch of Morrowind actually take place? At what time does it start?
Morrowind brings the new class Warden and a stand-alone adventure on the island of Vvardenfell for all players, whether newcomers or veterans. This will be the first expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online at all – until now, there have only been free updates during the subscription phase, and later paid DLCs since 2015.
Two weeks before the release, PC players can start Morrowind
The actual release of TESO Morrowind is not until June 6, but for some, it starts two weeks earlier.
Early access is available to PC players who have purchased the “Morrowind Upgrade” or the “Collector’s Upgrade – Digital” or received it otherwise. But only on PC. This early access does not apply to Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
If players have bought or pre-ordered the “physical version” of ESO Morrowind as a Collector’s Edition, they can apply to have it manually unlocked. How that works exactly, Zenimax explains in this post on the official site.
TESO: What time does the Early Access for Morrowind start?
Many PC players are now wondering: When does it start?
We found a statement from the community manager Gina Bruno. She says, “It starts sometime in the morning, probably before 10 AM Eastern Time.” Here in Germany, that would be in the late afternoon. Before 4 PM on Monday, May 22, the Early Access for The Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind should start.
In the early access, all bonus items tied to the purchase of Morrowind will also be available.
The Elder Scrolls Online is one of the MMORPGs that can be played well solo. The reasons for this and which solo MMORPGs we also recommend can be read in this article:
In summer, players can apparently expect quite a lot from Pokémon GO. Niantic is hopeful for legendary Pokémon!
In recent weeks and months, there have been some changes in Pokémon GO. Events regularly take place that reward trainers with monsters and item bonuses. Additionally, there are new functions and features such as daily rewards or evolution stones, which can now be found in the game. But that’s far from everything you can expect in the game.
Very soon, the Pokémon GO hype is expected to be reignited. The summer is said to be not just good, but legendary!
Niantic confirms: Legendary summer
These are positive news coming from the official side of the Pokémon GO team. The summer is apparently going to be something very special. This news came directly from Niantic’s head of product marketing.
At the Webby Awards, Niantic received the award for Best Mobile Game 2017. Archit Bhargava is Niantic’s head of product marketing and accepted the award at the ceremony. The winners’ “acceptance speech” could only consist of five words, and Bhargava chose them in a way that would make the hearts of trainers race. Check out the video to see what he has to say:

“This summer will be legendary,” Bhargava tells the audience at the Webby Awards. As the head of product marketing, he knows exactly what impact these words have on the fans. He will not accidentally announce something that was not planned, but has chosen his words carefully.
It’s a marketing game to drop a topic but not to define 100% what is meant. He did not say “legendary Pokémon will be available in summer,” but announced the summer as legendary. Therefore, there remains a certain room for interpretation.
John Hanke and Niantic Japan provide further hints
In the past, there have already been hints from official sources aligning with a legendary summer. In an interview with Wired, John Hanke explained that legendary Pokémon will appear this year. However, he did not specify an exact date.
Furthermore, Niantic Japan explained that there will be a huge Pokémon GO event in summer. After this explanation, many fans speculated that legendary Pokémon will be integrated into the game along with raids. Unfortunately, there have not yet been any official details about a possible event.
So, there are gradually more and more hints that summer is going to be something great for Pokémon GO. At this point, one cannot confirm 100% that legendary Pokémon will appear this summer, but many pieces of information suggest otherwise.
While we assume that legendary Pokémon like Mewtwo will still appear this summer, we’ll only confirm this suspicion once Niantic officially confirms it.
There is a survey live about the future of the The Division, which includes interesting questions.
Next week, the third ETF for The Division will take place. These three letters stand for “Elite Task Force” and describe representatives from the community who will discuss future content with the developers for several days. The entire Year 2 with Updates 1.7 and 1.8 is the topic, with the ETF’s ideas primarily being implemented in 1.8.
Massive also wants to hear your opinion – not just that of the 12 ETF members. A survey has now gone live, where you can provide your feedback on various topics. These topics will be discussed at the ETF workshop.
Changes for old DLCs, more items
Year 2 will bring few entirely new contents. Agents should not expect raids or new story missions. Instead, it is the strategy of the developers to upgrade the existing content and increase replayability in Year 2.
The current survey now gives hints that the three expansions Underground, Survival, and Last Stand could experience innovations.
First, you will be asked to indicate your platform and how long you have been playing The Division. Then it will be about new items. Is it more important to you that the existing items are revised, or do you prefer new ones? Do you want more high-ends, more exotics, or more gear sets?
Next, your opinion on a increase in the maximum gear score and a higher world rank will be queried. Should these possibly only be increased when new activities come?
And then there are detailed questions about the DLCs. What innovations would you like for Underground, Survival, and Last Stand? Here you can, for example, select an Endless Mode for Underground or a “Last Man Standing” mode for Survival.
What? Zombies?
The last question revolves around zombies: Do you want to see zombies in The Division, the developers ask. The answer options are, however, … interesting. The developers definitely haven’t lost their sense of humor. But who knows, maybe a zombie mode is really on the table. After all, it is quite popular in shooters like Call of Duty.
Massive emphasizes that this survey is not a guarantee that the mentioned topics will ever come to the game or are even planned. Nevertheless, they would like to know your opinion on it. Conversely, it also applies: Just because something is not included in this survey does not mean it could not happen soon.
Here, we embed a gameplay video for this strike. Tip: Pay attention not only to the action but also to the new weapons being used. It is played from the perspective of a Dawnblade Warlock. Note: Everything that follows are massive spoilers!

What is “Inverted Spire”, the new strike from Destiny 2 about?
In this strike, Guardians must face the planetoid Nessus. This is a dwarf planet with questionable vegetation, heavily shaped by the Vex.
However, in the “Inverted Spire” strike, you will encounter not only the Vex but also the Cabal’s Red Legion. Zavala informs you at the beginning that the Cabal have sent units to Nessus. Additionally, seismic disturbances have been detected. Your mission is to check out what is happening there. You will quickly encounter Vex and Cabal units. Defeat them.
Your path now leads you over Vex platforms and portals, past a Vex milk waterfall and deep into the interior of Nessus. Along the way, you will encounter Cabals and Vex battling each other repeatedly. At an extensive excavation site, you will also meet the four-legged, dog-like Cabal enemies that were already seen in trailers. They call themselves “War Beasts”.
About halfway through the strike, you will come to a gigantic drilling station, where you must watch out for rotating blades. Defeat the enemies here. Then you will already come to the final boss. This is a Vex spirit named Protheon. The fight against him consists of several phases, during which the ground beneath your feet dissolves twice, and you will then continue the fight on a lower level.
Overall, this strike makes a good impression. Many Guardians are full of praise for “Inverted Spire”. From “it’s not that bad” to “this is the best strike in Destiny so far”, everything is included. However: This strike in Destiny 2 still feels like a strike in Destiny 1. One should not expect that the strike format in Destiny 2 completely changes. The mechanics are not incredibly complicated. You just shoot down some enemies in a three-player fireteam.
However, “Inverted Spire” is not just a single shooting gallery but is also spiced up with many jumping passages. Overall, this strike is very expansive. The battles take place in large areas, and the scale is significantly larger than in most strikes in Destiny 1.
What do you think of this strike? Or are you skipping watching it to avoid spoilers?
Tencent plans to establish the first “eSports Town” in the world. A theme park based on major eSports titles like League of Legends. In addition to recreational events for players and fans, there will also be a university for professional players.
Is the gaming paradise coming for gamers? The online company Tencent plans to establish the first “eSports Town” in the world in China. The facility will focus entirely on eSports, its players, and fans.
Tencent is an internet company that has its greatest successes in online gaming.
The eSports Town is envisioned as a large complex for competitive gaming. The following are currently planned:
An eSports amusement park
An eSports university
A culture park
A commercial animation park
A “Creative Block”
A community for entrepreneurs in technical fields
A data center with Tencent Cloud
eSports Town: Start of the video game academy?
The eSports Town will go beyond just leisure activities for gamers and eSports fans. On the agenda are hostels and a dedicated university for professional players. National eSports events are also expected to find their way to the eSports Town.
Tencent also wants to establish its center for game development in the eSports Town. The company generates most of its income from online gaming and is the owner of Riot Games, the company behind LoL.
The eSports Town is still in the planning phase. However, construction has already been approved by the Wuhu city council. Wuhu is a non-district city and belongs to the Chinese province of Anhui. The eSports Town will be built here.
eSports is extremely popular in China and a successful concept. The electronic sport is still experiencing strong growth trends here. Who knows when such an “eSports Town” will emerge in the West?
What do you think of a theme park centered around eSports? Can you imagine something like this in the West or even in Germany?
The MMORPG Project Genom appears to be nearing completion. The developers state that the most difficult and lengthy programming tasks are now almost finished.
In a newsletter, the developers of the science fiction MMORPG Project Genom give fans hope that they may soon transition into a beta phase. Allegedly, the most elaborate programming tasks are now behind the team. For example, the day-night cycle was recently integrated. This is intended to make the entire game world feel much more natural.
NPCs will become more lifelike
Other improvements the developers are working on include a new science camp in the world, armor for high-level players, improved animations for female characters, and revamped effects in snowy areas. Additionally, the team is working on improving NPC behavior. They are intended to behave more naturally, interact with their environment, and engage in conversations with each other, which is meant to give the world a sense of liveliness.
Conversations between NPCs lead to quests
These conversations serve not only to enhance the atmosphere. Currently, the MMORPG Project Genom is still in an alpha phase. But with the almost completed elaborate programming tasks, a beta seems to be within reach.
Blizzard is currently working on many new cinematics for Overwatch. Fans can look forward to a complete “second season”!
Whether one loves or hates Overwatch, for one thing, everyone actually loves Blizzard’s shooter universe: the impressive cinematics.
The quality of the various videos, which last a few minutes, reaches that of a Pixar film and have managed to convey a dramatic atmosphere and tell a solid story impressively despite their brevity. However, since the release of “The Last Bastion,” there has not been a new cinematic apart from the release of Sombra, raising many questions after several months of silence:
Are these all the cinematics? Will Blizzard not release any new cinematics in “Year 2” of Overwatch?

In an interview with the colleagues from Polygon, Game Director Jeff Kaplan revealed a lot about the future of the cinematics. Story and video fans can breathe easy because many more little films are planned.
“The animated shorts are probably the thing we most enjoy creating. We love working with our animation team and can unearth stories that are not bound to gameplay – how can we tell the stories we want to tell?”
In general, Blizzard does not see the cinematics as standalone works but thinks of them in seasons.

“They [the animated videos] take a lot of time. We think of them in seasons. That’s how we talk about them internally too. The first season started with “Recall” and ended with “The Last Bastion.”
Kaplan did not yet provide an exact release date for the first video of the second season. However, they are making “good progress,” which gives hope that we may be able to admire new cinematics as early as summer – at the latest by BlizzCon, it seems likely.
The focus of the campaign of Battlefront 2 is unusual. It takes place in the Empire and shows the positive sides of the galactic superpower.
One of the major criticisms of the shooter Star Wars: Battlefront was the lack of a singleplayer campaign. Many fans associate Star Wars with great stories and were correspondingly disappointed that they found only pure multiplayer action in Battlefront.
With Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Electronic Arts aims to make up for this mistake and present fans this time a solo campaign, the story of which will captivate players.
It is unusual that the protagonist of the story does not come from the Rebels or the Republic. Instead, a successful soldier of the Empire is used to tell the story from a different perspective.

The story is intended to help portray the Empire as a little more vivid than it is depicted in the films and many other games. According to the developers, the Empire is not a “forced, coerced bunch who have been brainwashed.”
Iden Versio, the protagonist of Star Wars: Battlefront 2, comes from an “imperial family” – her father is, for example, the admiral of a fleet. The story is meant to show what people see as good in the Empire and why they act as they do. Players should “meet the people within the Empire” to understand what the average Stormtrooper is really like – namely quite different from a soldier who just can’t aim properly.
Cortyn says: I always find it wonderful when attempts are made to breathe more life into the clichéd “villains” that Stormtroopers are. The conflicts between the light and dark sides of the Force are much more exciting and dramatic when there is more than just “black” and “white.” A little love for the Empire can’t hurt. I am expecting a lot from the campaign and am even inclined to get the game just for that reason…
What about you? Are you looking forward to the campaign of Star Wars: Battlefront 2? Or are you only keen on the multiplayer?
For a long time, players in Ghost Recon Wildlands were searching for the Yeti. Now El Yeti has been found and killed. Is this the solution to the riddle?
Even in the first days after the release of Ghost Recon Wildlands, players found clues about a mysterious creature. It is said to reside in the mountains and kill innocent hikers.
After weeks of searching, the “Yeti” has finally been found and killed in the mountains. But does the story of the monster end here?
Blood traces reveal it – find and kill the Yeti
To find the Yeti, you need to travel to the mountains, interact with a stone, and then survive. However, it is not a monster as one would imagine a Yeti, but rather a disguised man: “El Yeti”. We explain step by step in this guide how to find this Yeti. Further down you will also find a guide video.
First, you need to travel to Inca Camina . In the western area, above Nevado LLamiru, you will find a river. Head to the point marked in the following screenshots.
Once you arrive at this point, head directly into the river.
Stand so that your gaze points towards Nuevo Mundo .
When you look towards Nuevo Mundo, you need to examine the stones on the left riverbank.
One of these stones has multiple blood traces as well as a bloody handprint on it.
Walk directly over to this stone.
A possible interaction option will appear that allows you to inspect the stone.
If you inspect the stone, a short video sequence featuring your character will be shown.
Afterwards, the Yeti will appear in the distance (to the left of the stone on a mountain) and will already have you in his sights.
Be careful, as initial reports say that El Yeti kills you with one shot.
He stands as a sniper on a distant mountain, so you should seek cover behind a stone.
Once you have killed the Yeti, run to the spot where his corpse lies.
There you can now inspect the corpse.
A further short video sequence will follow, in which your character takes photos of the Yeti.
The discovery apparently secures you the Ghillie Suit in Ghost Recon Wildlands. Players Dirt Gnasty, A Wild Hunter, and yokochan09 were the first to make this discovery.
This video from Carbon Meister shows the hunt:

A sniper in the mountains? Is that really all, Ubisoft?
Some players are disappointed with the latest Yeti discovery. A simple sniper in the mountains with a camouflage suit is not what the community hoped for as a “big target of the monster hunt”.
It is currently hard to say whether this was really the grand finale of the Yeti hunt, or if the developers still have an ace up their sleeve to surprise the community. We will probably find out when the sixth week of challenges starts. Yeti missions have been found for the sixth week in a leak.
The superhero MMO DC Universe Online (PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox One) takes place during World War II. Time travel with Wonder Woman, the Justice Society, and the Blackhawks to fight sinister Nazi villains.
Everyone is currently talking about Marvel Heroes Omega, the upcoming superhero MMO on the PlayStation 4. But for those who prefer Superman or Wonder Woman over the Hulk, Thor, and the talking raccoon Rocket Raccoon, there is new content to look forward to in DC Universe Online.
The “other superhero MMO” is getting an update Age of Justice that sends you on a time travel adventure to the 1940s.
DC Universe Online – Nazis fight alongside Wonder Woman – Release date of new episode June 1
As the Second World War raged during the 1940s, this conflict is, of course, intense. Even back then, superheroes and villains were active and wreaking havoc during the war. Therefore, you will encounter Wonder Woman, the Blackhawks, and the venerable Justice Society in Age of Justice.
Age of Justice will be released on June 1 and will offer the following content according to the developers:
Two new open-world battlegrounds: “Time Torn Area 51” and “War Torn Village”
Players on PS4 and Xbox One will soon be able to dive into the new adventures of the Shroud of Souls expansion, the current adventure module for the MMORPG Neverwinter.
Traditionally, console players always have to wait a bit longer for new content for the MMORPG Neverwinter. However, the intervals seem to be getting shorter. While the PC version of Shroud of Souls was released on May 2, the version for PS4 and Xbox One will follow on June 20. This has been announced by publisher Perfect World and the development studio Cryptic.
Console owners receive modules faster
The last adventure module The Cloaked Ascendancy was released for PC in February and for consoles in April. Storm King’s Thunder was released for PC in August and for consoles in October last year.
With the gap of about one and a half months between the release of Shroud of Souls on PC and console, PS4 and Xbox One owners are now experiencing the new adventures significantly faster. Earlier, the developers stated that they wanted to provide console players with new content more quickly.
A new adventure with new features
Shroud of Souls concludes the adventure that began with The Cloaked Ascendancy. The mysterious necromancer Morlanth has escaped from her prison beneath the River District of the city of Neverwinter and is using the powerful artifact “Veil of Souls” to conquer the city with mighty spirits.
The expansion also brings new features, including the “Presets” that allow you to create custom character builds that have predefined equipment, powers, talents, blessings, and attribute bonuses, which you can switch between quickly.
Additionally, further improvements to Guild Strongholds will make their way into the game, as well as the dynamic event “Stronghold Raiders” and a customizable Guild Hall that guild members can set up themselves. You can experience all this on Xbox One and PS4 starting June 20.

26% of LoL eSports viewers no longer play League of Legends (LoL) themselves but only watch eSports. In CS:GO, it’s even 30%. Leya has looked into the statistics from Newzoo.
Some gamers cannot understand why so many viewers want to watch professional players playing on Twitch. Why just watch when you can play yourself? they ask.
I belong to the 26% who only watch LoL and no longer play
In my circle of friends, it is becoming increasingly common that the highly competitive games are no longer being played. Games like League of Legends, Counter-Strike, or Dota 2 used to be our go-to games. Today, they are being replaced by other games.
Not all eSports viewers are active gamers.
We still enjoy following League of Legends in the LCS. The LCS is the European and North American professional league of League of Legends. Here we immerse ourselves in top plays and mishaps of the pros, observe new mechanics and champions. We all still have a certain passion for the game, but we play it only rarely.
Analysis shows many eSports fans do not play the top titles themselves
A recent analysis shows that many eSports fans might experience something similar to me and my friends. Newzoo is a service provider that specializes in data analysis of global games, eSports, and the mobile market.
In a market analysis of the global eSports scene, Newzoo closely examined the 5 largest franchises.
League of Legends
Counter-Strike – Global Offensive (CS:GO)
Dota 2
Overwatch
Hearthstone
The analysis focused, among other things, on the ratio between actively playing eSports viewers and “non-players.” As soon as a viewer has not played the game for more than 3 months, they were categorized as “non-players.” The graph below shows the results. Click to enlarge.
Once upon a time, life happened
Simply put, life has happened among my friends. We are all no longer students. We don’t stay up for holidays, nights, and weekends anymore, although we should be studying for the next exam.
Some are busy with their careers and building their lives. Others have started families and created their own little heroes. And again, others have simply lost interest. – The lack of interest often correlates with the toxic communities that seem to attract highly competitive games.
Games like LoL, Dota, and CS:GO require a lot of time, practice, and energy if one wants to keep up. It’s about ranks and earning points to climb up or fall down. Those who do not bring the necessary time and energy often do not achieve the success they may wish for.
For us, it’s a good alternative to simply follow LoL in eSports and still be part of our game. If we ever feel the urge to play, we also know the latest state of the game.
These numbers tell me that eSports has a lot of potential for further growth. Because these “non-players” greatly encourage interest in the games. The developers of these competitive games will need to engage more with the “non-player” audience. Because according to these statistics, they make up almost half of the viewers.
What do you think, why do so many eSports fans not play the games themselves?
Do you now only need to walk 2.5 kilometers in Pokémon GO to evolve Eevee into Espeon or Umbreon?
If you want to evolve Eevee into Umbreon or Espeon, you can do this once with a nickname. If you have evolved Eevee using a nickname into one of these two Pokémon, you need to resort to another trick to specifically evolve the monster.
For this, you need to walk 10 kilometers and earn two candies. However, due to the current rock event, your buddy can now find candies four times faster. Does this mean you have to cover less distance to specifically evolve Eevee?
Eevee evolution – Method tested during the event
Since last night, Adventure Week is active in Pokémon GO. This rock event gives you the bonus that your buddy Pokémon find candies four times faster.
When this bonus was announced, some trainers from the community wondered if they could now quickly get many Umbreon and Espeon without having to walk so far.
Because Pokémon now find candies four times faster, it was tested whether it works after 2.5 kilometers with the targeted evolution.

The results of various trainers on Reddit, TheSilphRoad, and PokémonGOHub show that the evolutions do not require less distance. Furthermore, you still need to walk ten kilometers with Eevee as your buddy Pokémon and earn two candies for the targeted evolution to work.
The MMO shooter Destiny 2 is supposed to run on Battle.net, even though it doesn’t exist anymore. It was renamed in March, but not even Blizzard seems to care.
At the end of the presentation of Destiny 2, Mike Morhaime, the head of Blizzard, appeared on the big screen. Morhaime announced, that Destiny 2 will run exclusively on PC through Battle.net.
This caused confusion. Not only because it was an unexpected move, but also for another reason. The problem: Something like “the Battle.net” doesn’t exist anymore.
Huh? I thought Battle.net no longer exists?
On March 24, Blizzard officially renamed Battle.net to “Blizzard App” or “Blizzard Launcher.” So why does the head of the company still call it that?
It wasn’t a mistake by Morhaime to call the launcher “Battle.net.” In the Blizzard FAQ regarding the Destiny 2 launch, the name “Battle.net” appears as well, mentioning “Battle.net” 5 times, never referring to it as “Blizzard App.”
Destiny 2 was just a minor setback! – Exception rule applies
What’s going on? Did Blizzard decide that the renaming was silly and is now backtracking?
“No.” A Blizzard spokesperson explained to the US site Polygon: “It is still called Blizzard Launcher. We made an exception for this announcement.”
He did not specify the exact reasons for making this exception.
Destiny 2 is a double exception – according to the FAQ, Blizzard does not plan to let “other non-Blizzard titles” run through Battle.net. However, they do not completely rule it out for the future.
Mein MMO believes: You can assume that Blizzard itself knows that everyone still calls it “Battle.net” and that everyone knows what is meant by it.
If Morhaime had announced: You can launch Destiny 2 through the “Blizzard App”, people might have believed that something completely new was coming their way.
This exception shows that Blizzard itself knows that the “name change” from the established term “Battle.net” to “Blizzard App” cannot be implemented overnight with a stroke of a pen. It will take a while for the new name to sink into the consciousness of the gaming community.
And some will still simply call it “Battle.net” in 10 years – probably even internally at Blizzard.
For the first time, there is a live event playlist in For Honor. What does this event look like?
Since the launch of For Honor, there has been an “Events” display on the multiplayer map where you start the PvP matches. This has been available at the respective strongholds of the factions but could not be selected until now. This changed last night.
Now you can click on the “Events” and access two “Event Playlists”. According to Ubisoft, the event playlists are designed to test the new maps with all their variations. This guarantees you access to the new multiplayer maps Forge and Temple Garden, which introduced the second season of For Honor. The Dominion mode is always played. There is one playlist for PvP and one for PvE.
These event playlists will be available until Monday, May 22 at 8:30 PM. After matches in the event playlists, you won’t earn war resources.
Many players probably expected something different from the “Events” that have been speculated about for months, rather than familiar playlists with fixed maps. But who knows what other events the future will bring.
Massive Hero Kills – Event Command
Currently, a new event command called “Massive Hero Kills” is underway, which the community may master together. You are to achieve as many hero kills as possible in Dominion matches. The current target is nearly met. As a reward, there are 2000 Steel.
Datamining – New Weapons and Outfits Coming
With the second season of For Honor, not only new maps and event playlists were introduced, but also two new heroes. The Shinobi and the Centurion are presented in detail in the provided links.
According to the results of a dataminer, these two heroes will receive numerous new elite outfits, mythic outfits, helm cosmetics, weapons, and armor in the future. The existing heroes will also get new outfits soon. You can view them here:
