The trigger for the deal was the massive Pokémon hype that broke out in the summer of 2016 when Pokémon GO was released. The contract was signed two weeks after the launch of Pokémon GO. No wonder: the value of the franchise significantly increased due to the augmented reality sensation.
Ryan Reynolds as Detective Pikachu
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the Deadpool actor has signed on for the role of the yellow investigator. Detective Pikachu is based on an adventure for the 3DS that was released exclusively in Japan in February of last year. It was the latest Pokémon game for handhelds when Legendary secured the film rights the following summer during the hype around Pokémon GO.
In the game, you play as a child exploring the world and trying to solve mysteries. You will be accompanied by a Pikachu wearing a Sherlock Holmes hat.
The curious part is that Reynolds is now playing the role of Pikachu. His movements will be digitized and later transformed onto a digital Pikachu. Similar to Andy Serkis’s role as Gollum.

Ylands utilizes a unique and special graphic style aimed at appealing to a younger audience. Because that’s exactly what it’s about: living out childhood fantasies in the game.
At Digital Extremes (DE), they focus on the Free2Play model and microtransactions in Warframe (PC, PS4, Xbox). The developers believe this model can offer the experience of a AAA title when respecting players and their wishes.
Warframe is currently considered one of the exemplary games regarding a fair Free2Play model. The online shooter has no paywalls to unlock important content. There are even purchase barriers if players have too low a level for certain items.
It is possible to trade the premium currency Platinum in the marketplace. Those who manage to do this smartly and collect special resources or items can earn Platinum from other players. Only cosmetic items need to be purchased with real money.
Digital Extremes wanted to follow in the footsteps of other Free2Play giants
Warframe was released in 2013 – a time when the Free2Play model was still unusual for large publishers in the West. The “Games as a Service” approach was slowly making waves and bringing decent sales numbers to games like Destiny, GTA Online, or Overwatch.
In contrast to these games, DE decided at the time to take the Free2Play path with Warframe. They thought they had a good idea of what expectations would be placed here.
They oriented themselves based on existing titles like League of Legends or World of Tanks. The developers looked at the intervals in which updates were made and how monetization worked for the players.
DE wanted to learn how to keep a Free2Play title alive through microtransactions.
Warframe faced a paywall – Players hated it, and DE reacted
Through studies of other Free2Play titles, Digital Extremes felt ready to conquer the market with Warframe – but the first shot backfired significantly.
In the closed beta, Warframe had a paywall once players reached the level cap. The online shooter was free up to a certain point; afterwards, players were asked to pay.
At that time, a small community had already formed around Warframe, and they hated the paywall! Many felt that the online shooter would be much better without harsh pay barriers. At this point, Warframe received rather mediocre to poor reviews, and the online shooter was on the verge of collapse.
Digital Extremes now had to make a decision: Would they listen to the community and remove the paywall or continue with the existing system? Ultimately, DE decided to respect the wishes of its players, removed the paywall, and released a new version of the game.
The players were pleased that their feedback was taken seriously and Warframe was subsequently adjusted.
“Players must have a choice and a voice”
In an interview with Gamesindustry, DE’s Vice President Meridith Braun spoke about her attitude toward microtransactions in Free2Play games. Braun believes that players must be given a choice and a voice. This made a difference for Digital Extremes at the time and changed the studio’s philosophy.
According to the Vice President, monetization must be integrated into the DNA of game design, whether it is a free game or a full-priced title with microtransactions.
Meredith Braun: “We have tirelessly worked for the last five years to present our players with a fair business model […], that puts the players at the forefront of every decision.”
Braun assumes that removing the paywall from Warframe strengthened the relationship between the studio and the players.

In PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds there are Supply Crates, called loot boxes, which are occasionally dropped by an airplane. Those who catch them can look forward to better weapons and gear. As a PR stunt for the release of PUBG on Xbox One, the developers are now distributing real loot boxes in Australia!
When an airplane is heard in the battle royale shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, there will soon be deaths. The plane drops a loot box full of weapons and gear somewhere on the map, and countless players rush there to grab the loot. This inevitably leads to a massive slaughter, as some players lie in wait for the loot seekers or they fight at the box on the spot.

For the weapon forge in Destiny 2 you need Lost Prophecies. You fulfill this with Radiolarian cultures and Paradox amplifiers. How you can farm these items is explained here.
Since Curse of Osiris, you can visit the Lighthouse in Destiny 2. This is the new social space on Mercury, where Brother Vance, a secret and a weapon forge are located.
Through this weapon forge, you can obtain 11exclusive Osiris weapons equipped with Vex technology. However, you must do quite a bit to unlock all the weapons.

How can I use the weapon forge and how do I get Lost Prophecies?
Before you can forge Osiris Vex weapons, you must first complete the entire story campaign of Curse of Osiris.
After that, Brother Vance wants you to master three adventures in the Infinite Forest.
If you succeed, you can tackle a heroic adventure. A heroic adventure significantly increases the difficulty and comes with certain modifiers, making it a considerable challenge for solo players.
You can then return to Brother Vance, who rewards you with a legendary engram and a Lost Prophecy.
You will receive the “Lost Prophecy, Verse 1,” which leads you to the Osiris scout rifle. This prophecy can be inspected in your inventory. To fulfill it, you need a concentrated Radiolarian culture.
You can obtain this from Brother Vance. He will craft a concentrated Radiolarian culture for you if you bring him 10 Radiolarian cultures and 15 legendary shards.
Once this is done, you can use the concentrated Radiolarian culture in your inventory, which will fulfill the Lost Prophecy. Now you run to the weapon forge in the Lighthouse and craft the weapon: Afterwards, Brother Vance has more prophecies for you that you can pursue over time. About a month ago, Blizzard unveiled the latest expansion of World of Warcraft. There was plenty of information at BlizzCon, but what are the most important features and innovations that Battle for Azeroth will bring us? We have created a list of the 5 most important things that the new WoW add-on has in store for you!
Allied Races
While other expansions only ever implemented a maximum of one new race per faction (if at all), Battle for Azeroth brings six new species. These new “Allied Races” need to be unlocked through a questline completed by the main character.
The Alliance can look forward to the following races:
Void Elves
Dark Iron Dwarves
Lightforged Draenei
The Horde receives support from these allies:
Nightborn
Highmountain Tauren
Zandalari Trolls
New characters of the allied races start their adventure at level 20. If someone manages to play a character manually to the maximum level, they will also receive a stylish “Heritage Armor” that can only be worn by that race.
During Battle for Azeroth, more allied races are expected to follow. These will likely be introduced with the major patches when the story of the expansion allows for it.
Instead, players will have the opportunity to freely choose whether they want PvP activated or deactivated within their capital. Those who choose to activate PvP will only see other players in the world who have done the same.
As a special incentive for the system, many actions – such as quests – will be rewarded with additional bonuses if completed during a PvP phase. This aims to motivate players to engage more often in skirmishes.
At the same time, World PvP will be made fairer. The PvP templates known from battlegrounds, which set a character’s values to a fair level, will also be active in the open world.
The Heart of Azeroth and Azerite
Since players will soon retire their artifact weapon, Blizzard needs a new carrot to dangle in front of players. This carrot will be the Heart of Azeroth. Essentially, this is an “artifact necklace” given to every player at the start of Battle for Azeroth by Magni Bronzebeard.
Azerite is the new resource that essentially replaces “artifact power.” Players earn it for most actions in the game – such as visiting dungeons, PvP, island expeditions, completing world quests, and so on. Story-wise, Azerite is the lifeblood of Azeroth.
The Heart of Azeroth levels up continuously. It gains additional properties and talent points, but it can do even more: the Heart also grants bonus effects to other pieces of the hero’s equipment. For example, when acquiring new shoulder armor, it can be upgraded with the Heart of Azeroth. This will unlock additional talents gradually.
Once again, there will be a “catch up” mechanic for the Heart of Azeroth, so that newcomers and returning players can more easily reach a high level in the Heart of Azeroth. Unlike in Legion, however, the amount of Azerite received does not increase, but the required amount per level-up decreases over time. This avoids absurd numbers like “5 billion artifact power.”
The Island Expeditions
Although the Mythic dungeons in Legion provided a lot of long-term motivation, Blizzard wants to achieve even more changes and increased replayability. This aims to be achieved with the Island Expeditions.
These small mini-dungeons are designed for 3 players, and specialization should not matter – it could even be 3 healers or 3 tanks or just 3 DPS entering the instance.
Even though there is only a predefined set of a few islands, the experience there is meant to be different every time. One time the island might be occupied by Mogu performing dark rituals. Another time you might meet an opposing troll tribe, or the Hozen might be throwing a crazy party. Mission objectives and circumstances change constantly, creating a new gaming experience with unpredictable twists.
The special twist: Your team plays against a group of NPC adventurers who also try to loot the treasures of the island! These NPCs are significantly smarter than other mobs in the game, planning ambushes or tactically retreating. There is also a PvP mode – this is likely the hardest difficulty level.
Warfronts – Simulated Warcraft 3
Our last highlight is the Warfronts. Since everything in Battle for Azeroth revolves around the conflict between Horde and Alliance, the war will also be fought on several fronts. These Warfronts are one of the major events players can experience multiple times throughout the expansion.
Essentially, it is a large-scale PvE event where many players from one faction experience the siege of a stronghold. For example, the Horde attacks Stromgarde in Arathi to regain its power position in the Eastern Kingdoms.
The developers aim to revive the old feeling of Warcraft 3 here. Players must build complete outposts and construct barracks, forges, and other buildings to spawn NPCs that will then initiate the siege.

The MMORPG ArcheAge is getting a Remastered version – but initially only for Korea. This version is supposed to reflect five years of experience with the game.
ArcheAge is an MMORPG that repeatedly sparks controversial discussions among players. Criticism includes the item shop, where overly powerful items are sold, and the crafting system, which can hardly be utilized meaningfully due to a lack of resources. However, this version of the game could soon belong to the past.
Remastered version initially only for Korea
As XLGames announced, a Remastered version of the MMO will be released in January 2018. However, initially only in Korea and only on a server called Orchid. The new version of the game is set to showcase all balancing changes and adjustments that the title has gone through in the past five years. Both versions will run parallel for now, but the Remastered essentially represents “the new game”.
The Remastered version offers:
Balancing optimizations and upgrades for items. All of this has been tested on two focus groups
Raids and hunting areas will change dynamically to provide longer enjoyment
Adjustments to “Quality of Life” features that determine how comfortable players and organizations feel in the game world – including the economy, housing, crafting, guild features, and more
The Orchid server was named after the main character of ArcheAge
Initially, there will only be a limited number of character slots
The ticket stores will be redesigned
Registrations for the Orchid server will take place from December 28 to 31
Release in the West still unclear, but not unrealistic
Whether ArcheAge Remastered will also be released in the West is currently unclear. However, the developers gave a hint that the new version represents a kind of new beginning for the MMORPG, which suggests that the Remastered version could eventually be globally available. This is sometimes reminiscent of the reboot of Secret World. There, Secret World Legends runs parallel as a new game. The original version, however, will no longer be developed.
