Overwatch takes a hard stance against allegations from popular streamer TimTheTatman, banning a so-called griefer for life. The accusation: stream sniping. What is behind it?
Griefers – these are not necessarily the toxic players, those who throw insults and threats, but those who ruin the game for others. In this case, “stream sniping” was done. And it affected several players across multiple accounts.

“I no longer want to stream, as I fall victim to stream sniping every single day!” recently complained the popular streamer TimTheTatman, hinting that he will wait to see if and when Blizzard will address the problem. He can no longer tolerate griefers this way.
Allegations against the griefer:
He is a “one trick”: A player who only plays one character. Even if a different hero would perform better for the group. This is often accompanied by a specialization in a single playstyle and childish behavior when asked to play another character. This term is often considered an insult.
He is a “stream sniper”: A player who gains advantages through simultaneously watching another’s stream and/or can harass them more effectively. For example, he can see where the respective streamer is located.
Because of TimTheTatman, Blizzard was now forced to investigate the allegations – with surprising results.

“He is one of the most toxic players we have ever encountered”
Hardly examined, Blizzard fell into a deep hole of seemingly endless tickets.
The griefer had not only chosen TimTheTatman as a victim over time but had also harassed others. For this, he had created several accounts that had also been repeatedly banned. In total, he has ruined thousands of players’ matches in Overwatch.
Anyway, he has now been caught – and rigorously banned. Along with all his other and also future accounts, of course. Blizzard emphasizes that they did not ban him just for playing only one character but because he systematically disturbed thousands of games through stream sniping.
Blizzard admits mistakes
Griefers like this are “extremely rare”, but here the reporting system seems to have simply failed. Blizzard acknowledges this.
“We admit that it was an unfortunate mistake of our report system not to have identified this player earlier. However, we are already working on being able to avoid outliers like this in the future.”
At the same time, players are encouraged to continue reporting toxic and damaging players, whether via tickets or social channels. “Let’s work together to make the community better!” With this, Blizzard concludes its statement.
The MOBA SMITE now features cute anime girls. They must be protected from waves of enemies in the latest patch 5.2.
There are only two things in the world that can fundamentally improve everything: cheese and anime. However, since cheese is hard to deliver in physical form in an online game, SMITE is trying to achieve this through an anime adventure.
With the upcoming Patch 5.2, SMITE introduces the mode “Legend of the Foxes”, which transports players into an anime world where they must protect fox spirits (in the form of Da Ji and Ratatoskr) from waves of enemies. At the end of the enemy hordes, there is a boss fight against one of several random adversaries. This PvE mode mainly attracts players with cool skins as rewards and a small story element.
The mode will only be available from Patch 5.2 to Update 5.4. Those who manage to obtain all 3 skins for Ratatoskr (which makes him look like a fox) will receive a fourth, special skin that has not yet been revealed.
Of course, an appropriate trailer is also necessary to kick off the whole spectacle:

However, the new game mode is more than just a collection of many enemies, as the game’s visuals have also been adjusted. A cel-shading technology is used to convey a typical “Asian” flair. As a result, all characters look as if they have stepped out of a comic.
It is naturally enhanced by dialogues in the “visual novel” style, which have been fully voiced. For the voice actress, Christina Vee, known for voicing Velvet Crowe in Tales of Berseria, has been secured.
Are you going to check out this anime horde mode in SMITE? Or is SMITE just a competitive MOBA for you, and such “big-eyed nonsense” has no place there?
Recently, SMITE has leaned a bit too far out of the window:
Crusaders of Light is a mobile MMORPG that is very reminiscent of World of Warcraft in terms of gameplay and graphic style, but is optimized for smartphones. The amazing thing is: The mobile MMO is taking an unusual path, as it will soon be released on PC and enable cross-platform play with mobile devices.
It is constantly heard that mobile is the new trend, and that many major developers are shifting their focus to gaming on smartphones in the future. Therefore, it is unusual when the news comes: We are bringing our mobile MMO to PC as well.
Crusaders of Light from gaming giant NetEase will be released on Steam on March 3rd and aims to allow seamless crossplay between PC and mobile. You can play on the go on your phone and switch to your PC at home. The transition is supposed to be seamless at launch.
Crusaders of Light offers raids for up to 40 players
MMOs on Mobile and PC – A Compromise for the West?
In the West, smartphone games are also successful, but still nowhere near as much as in Asia. In the Far East, there are regularly record revenues that leave pure PC companies astonished. A game like Arena of Valor is said to have earned almost 2 billion dollars in 2017. For comparison: AAA games like Battlefield 1, Minecraft, Guild Wars 2, or GTA 5 are each around 100 million, according to market research firm SuperData.
In Asia, mobile MMOs like Lineage 2 Revolution or Lineage M are making a lot of noise. The mobile market for MMOs is booming in Asia. In comments on German sites regarding sensational news about mobile games, a different picture emerges: Many players here are skeptical.

They often argue that the West has better PCs and hope that PC developers will not be dazzled by the numbers in other markets. There are still plenty of potential customers for PC and console. And in any case: mobile MMOs cannot keep up with PC MMOs.
In NCSoft’s last quarter, the mobile sector was once again the engine. Guild Wars 2 and Blade & Soul managed to report good numbers by their standards. The PC market for MMOs is far from dead.
The path of marrying mobile and PC through cross-platform could, however, represent a compromise if done correctly and without neglecting the strengths of each platform too much. For instance, better textures on PC or a more intuitive control on smartphones.
Crusaders of Light will now tackle this as well, but in reverse. From mobile to PC. Whether they succeed better, you can test for yourself soon in March. Upon launch, a new server called “Ferroc Camp” will be available to ease the new player entry. If you register in advance here on the official Crusaders of Light site, you will receive a starter pack worth 50 dollars as a gift.
A DPS meter is of course also a must-have.
What is Crusaders of Light? Mobile MMORPG in WoW style
In Crusaders of Light you get a complete online role-playing game that is often referred to as “WoW for mobile.” With several million downloads and largely positive ratings in the AppStore, it is one of the most popular mobile MMORPGs.
You create a hero from a selection of four classes. There are Warriors, Paladins, Rangers, and Mystics. Each of these classes can later develop into one of three specializations. For instance, the Mystic can specialize in the usual DPS mage, CC effects, or healing. According to the developer, you have content for over 300 hours in Crus:
Level phase up to 55 with story focus
Auto-play feature for regular quests
Raids for up to 40 players and many dungeons
Integrated chat system, optionally also with voice chat
Mount system with over 50 companions
Each character can integrate up to 10 skills into their rotation
Battle Royale mode
PvP modes for 1vs1, 3vs3, 5vs5, and 25vs25
In December 2017, the largest update for the MMORPG so far, Shaodows of Sardar, was released, making Crusaders of Light 33% larger. The following video shows you in 2 minutes what game to expect:

In Pokémon GO, false EX Raid invitations were sent out. Trainers received invitations to gyms they haven’t visited in months. Niantic is now changing the system.
EX Raids have not had a good reputation among many trainers. They were supposed to be a cool feature that allows players to catch special Pokémon, but the system is opaque and often seems unfair.
One condition is certain: You must have recently participated in a raid battle at a gym to be invited to an EX Raid at that gym.
However, doubts about this condition have arisen in recent days: Several trainers report that they received EX Raid invites despite never having been to the corresponding gym – or not having been there for months.

Bug has been fixed, EX Raid changes have been made
The Pokémon GO team has now commented on this issue.
With the last batch of EX Raid invitations, some changes were made to improve the selection of trainers and gyms. However, a bug was introduced that led to this invitation chaos. Yes, trainers were therefore incorrectly invited to EX Raids at gyms they had not visited for months.
This bug has since been fixed, and everything should function properly in the next invitations. The most important criterion remains: trainers only receive an invitation if they have recently participated in a raid battle at the corresponding gym.
Additionally, the following changes have been made to how gym invitations are selected:
EX Raids will continue to take place in parks and at sponsored locations, but the number of gyms meeting the necessary criteria is increasing.
Furthermore, the average number of trainers invited to a gym is increasing.
This is supposed to lead to: More trainers will have the opportunity to participate in the EX Raid feature in the future.
Two more changes:
Trainers with a higher level gym badge now have greater chances of receiving invitations.
Trainers who participate in multiple raid battles in the week leading up to the EX Raid invitations have a higher chance of being selected.
The team thanks the community for all the feedback and apologizes for the trouble caused by the bug.
The selection of weapons in Monster Hunter World is definitely impressive. But which of the 14 weapons are the best and most popular? A survey among Japanese players provides a sort of tier list of the best weapons for single-player or group play in Monster Hunter World.
The Japanese MHW Wiki alterma.jp found through a survey of their community which weapons are considered the best and most popular among players of Monster Hunter World.
Light Bowgun at the Top
The title for the best weapon in Monster Hunter World goes to the light bowgun, with dual blades in second place and the energy blade in third. Together with the great sword, these three weapons have received the SS rank from the community.
The light bowgun has earned its place thanks to its rapid-fire and high mobility. This distinguishes it from the heavy bowgun, which, although it can deal high damage with bombs, only landed in sixth place.
The light bowgun is preferred by players both in solo play and in groups, even though it can also harm its own team with friendly fire.
The sword and shield performed the worst in the vote. Players gave this weapon the lowest rank of C in both single-player and multiplayer modes.
Just behind it was the hunting horn, which received rank B in multiplayer mode, just barely surpassing sword and shield with only a few votes.

Warframe (PC, PS4, Xbox One) is getting a comprehensive weapon update soon, affecting nearly every firearm. Stats, crafting costs, and minimum requirements will all be adjusted.
Alongside your Warframe suits, the many weapons in Warframe are the main stars. Depending on whether you’re using a lethal Tigris shotgun, a bullet-spewing Grakata, or the glass cannon Astilla, the gameplay experience changes dramatically.
However, it has been a long time since there has been any change to weapons. Therefore, the developers have prepared a massive balance update for nearly all guns.
Why are the weapons being changed?
As part of the upgrade, all weapons have been uniformly categorized into mastery ranks. Mastery ranks are somewhat like belts in martial arts. If a weapon is bound to a certain rank, you can only use it if you’ve reached that rank.
To reach higher ranks, you need to complete specific challenges in the game. To qualify, you have to grind a lot of experience points. The previous categorization of weapons into mastery ranks was, however, quite arbitrary.
For example, you only needed rank 7 for the powerful Astilla, and the also strong Grakata didn’t even require any rank!
Weapons have been categorized into new mastery groups
According to the new guidelines, the weapons are now sorted by damage and crit values and categorized into the appropriate mastery ranks. However, other factors like reload speed and fire rate have also been taken into account.
As a result, some strong weapons are not ranked as high due to long reload times as one might expect from their damage output. Many weapons have also been buffed and partially nerfed to solidly fit into their respective categories.
The update does not apply to beam weapons, melee weapons, and Conclave weapons.
What is yours remains yours
With the update, many weapons will be categorized into new and usually higher mastery areas. Does this mean that you may no longer be able to use your beloved weapon because it suddenly jumped from rank 4 to rank 10 and you have not yet reached that level?
The developers quickly reassure you. Your previously used weapons can still be used. The new categorizations only apply when you do not already own the weapon and are buying or building it anew.
Also good to know: The crafting resources will be partially changed and will now more often include materials from the open-world map Plains of Eidolon.
Over 5 million copies of Monster Hunter World have already been delivered by Capcom. To celebrate the success, the company has put together a free Celebration Package with in-game items for the fans. But not everyone has received their gift, the 5 million item package.
The gift packages in Monster Hunter World were supposed to be sent out in waves. However, many players still haven’t received their items. And we now know why.
A bug is to blame for the missing 5 million item package
On the official Monster Hunter World site, Capcom announced that the package could not be delivered properly due to a bug.
We sincerely apologize for an error that has prevented some customers from receiving the “5 million item package” that was recently added with an update. As soon as the item package is available again, we will inform you – until then, we ask for a little patience while we address the issue.
The thank-you gift includes the following items:
50 x Mega Potion
20 x Life Powder
10 x Demon Powder
10 x Hard Shell Powder
5 x Steel
Capcom initially announced that the package would be available until February 15. It is not known whether this deadline will be extended due to the bug.
Keep in mind that you can only receive the package once. So if you have already picked up yours, you were not affected by the bug.
For a smooth start in Monster Hunter World, we have prepared a beginner’s guide for you:
InWarframe introduced two new giant monsters with the “Shrines of Eidolon” update. The two new “Eidolons” and the controllable flying vehicles “Dargyn” bring new content to the Plains.
In Warframe, you could previously hunt the massive Eidolon Teralyst at night in the Plains of Eidolon, the open-world map. This gigantic beast was a worthy opponent for groups of Tenno with the right gear.
However, the Teralyst is no longer special, and players yearn for variety: the change now comes in the form of two new Eidolons for Warframe.
The poisonous Hydrolyst.
Shrine of the Eidolon – Update introduces Gantulyst and Hydrolyst
The Teralyst is by far not the only Eidolon beast found in the plains. When a massive “Sentient” was destroyed over the plains during the “Old War,” other Eidolons emerged from its fragments alongside the Teralyst. They remained inactive for a long time, but now they awaken!
The gigantic Gantulyst.
These two new giant opponents are coming your way soon!
The first new Eidolon is the Gantulyst. This monster has a massive rock for an arm. It also has powerful energy beams that it fires. Despite all its power, the Gantulyst is worshipped. The Ostron have even built a shrine to gain its favor.
The disgusting Hydrolyst is a poisonous beast. It glows green and is said to smell horrible like decay and rot. The Hydrolyst relies on poison and acid. It is not revered but considered a harbinger of natural disasters. As if a towering poison monster isn’t already a disaster!
As loot, the new Eidolons drop new “Riven Transmuters.” Four of these rare upgrades can be combined to create a brand new Riven mod.
Hijack a Dargyn and fly in the Plains of Eidolon!
Normally, you have to explore the Plains of Eidolon on foot, or you can build a one-time jetpack called Archwing for valuable resources. However, with the “Shrines of the Eidolon” update, you can also hijack the Dargyn flying machines of the Grineer and zoom through the air.

Blizzard is always striving to bring all heroes in Overwatch into balance. To achieve this, heroes are continuously adjusted and revamped. In a post in the official forums, Game Director Jeff Kaplan reveals which heroes will soon be reworked!
The balance of heroes in Overwatch always sparks discussions. In particular, the Overwatch League and the heroes favored there fuel these debates. However, those who really need an adjustment are usually filtered out by Blizzard only after long observations.
In response to the question of whether D.Va will finally get a nerf, a user in the official forum received a lot of criticism. Apparently, the community likes D.Va just the way she is. But even Game Director Jeff Kaplan himself speaks up and lists heroes that will receive adjustments in the near future:
Mei
Sombra
Symmetra
Doomfist
Torbjörn
Hanzo
Mei is finally getting buffed!
One of the names is Mei. The lovable Chinese researcher has been a concern for the community for some time. Although she is quite popular, Mei is rarely played because she can only shine in special situations.
The players have seen this problem for quite a while. Although Mei was once too strong, the subsequent adjustment hit her so hard that she has not found a true place in the game – except to secure as much time on points when the game was already lost.
However, Mei is now at the top of the list of heroes to be adjusted. Kaplan even mentions her as one of the three heroes likely to receive their updates first. Alongside her, Sombra and Doomfist are also in line, and possibly Hanzo depending on the development.
Kaplan is only talking about balancing here, not specifically about buffs. However, since Sombra, Doomfist, and Mei all struggle with their weaknesses, nerfs are highly unlikely.
In response to the creator’s question, Kaplan also replies. According to him, D.Va is currently very strong and is played a lot, but she is not on the team’s to-do list. No adjustments are planned for her.
This does not mean she will remain unchanged permanently. But before she is subjected to balancing, other heroes are more important. From past experiences, such actions also resolve other issues while simultaneously creating new ones. Who will be next under the knife remains to be seen.
This is an AI-powered translation. Some inaccuracies might exist.
You can craft weapons and armor from various items or create consumables like potions. To do this, you need to collect loot from monsters or look for resources in the surroundings. We have created an item list with all the important items from Monster Hunter World.
These can be parts from monsters like poison sacs or fangs. There are also special resources from mining locations or bone piles. Below you will find a list of the items you need to craft your equipment.
The list is sorted into monster loot, bones, mining items such as ores and crystals, and resources from nature. Some of the items are also divided into high rank and low rank, as you will receive different resources from the two rank tiers.

The MMO shooter Destiny 2 is celebrating an event next week where Bungie will show its generous side. There are not supposed to be any new microtransactions.
In recent years, Bungie has repeatedly held events in Destiny that lasted a week or a few weeks, decorated the Tower festively, and introduced new items.
Originally, the Guardians thought that these events should bring variety to the game and provide new goals. However, it soon became clear that these offered hardly any new reasons to play more, but primarily created new opportunities to pay more.
Especially in the fall of 2016, the mood changed when the Festival of the Lost degraded into “Festival of Microtransactions”. Bungie released a promotional trailer for real-money use in advance, which was not well received in the community at all. They advertised that you could buy cool stuff in the Eververse – that was all there was to the trailer:

In Destiny 2, the Dawning event took place between the years, during which Guardians also had to reach into their wallets if they wanted to obtain all the new Dawning items. A winter wonderland of microtransactions!
A major point of criticism about the Dawning was that you couldn’t even get to the Dawning Engrams with experience points. You only received the standard gloss engrams through XP, which did not yield new items.
In short: The time-limited events no longer create a festive atmosphere, as they revolve solely around microtransactions. The criticism is significant. If Bungie wants to lure players back to the game with such events, they need to change something. And they are doing that now.
The Crimson Week introduces several new – and better – things
Recently, the developers announced the Crimson Week that will take place in Destiny 2 starting February 13. And during this event, Bungie is acting unusually generous: All new items can only be obtained through gameplay. No Crimson Engrams can be bought with real money!
What makes the Crimson Week different from the previous “Festivals of Microtransactions”?
The majority of Crimson items are contained in Crimson Engrams. These engravings can not be acquired via microtransactions in the Eververse. The top post in the Destiny reddit is currently highlighting this with praise.
You can obtain the Crimson Engrams through the new 2v2 PvP playlist or by collecting enough XP. Bungie was thus able to respond to this point of criticism from the Dawning event.
The engravings are not limited. You can earn as many Crimson Engrams as you want.
The rewards from the Crimson Engrams have a “Knock-Out List” mechanic. This means the engravings will only provide duplicates once you possess all the new gear. If you play enough, you are guaranteed to obtain all the new items from the engravings.
Additionally, you can earn 5 more exclusive rewards by achieving specific goals.
In the Eververse, you can only buy available Crimson items directly for glimmer.
The Guardians are responding to the Crimson Week in Destiny 2 with mixed feelings. It is definitely a step in the right direction that everything can be earned and players are not being aggressively asked to pay. Many are also glad that a new mode is finally being introduced in the Crucible with 2v2.
However, there is also criticism regarding what can be earned. The rewards are said to be boring, everything is just cosmetic stuff with a new coat of paint. Additionally, some accuse Bungie of recycling old content again – as they are introducing a new version of the old Destiny 1 map “The Burning Shrine”.
Will you be participating in the Crimson Week? What do you think of the decisions for the event?
Snail Games has announced the release date of the multiplayer VR game Ark Park (PSVR, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift), in which you visit an amusement park full of dinos.
On March 22, the gates of Ark Park will open. This is an amusement park inspired by the survival game Ark: Survival Evolved, where dinosaurs live. With a virtual reality headset like HTC Vive, PSVR or Oculus Rift, you will experience the creatures up close. However, just like in Jurassic Park, something is bound to go wrong..
Story or Exploration?
Ark Park offers you several game modes. Among them is a story mode where you also fight against the dinosaurs. Or you can simply explore the park as you like.
Exploration Mode
Either alone or with friends, you explore tropical rainforests, icy mountains, and vast plains where you encounter dinosaurs.
You collect “gene cubes”, which you obtain by exploring the area and solving puzzles. With the cubes, you unlock blueprints that you need to craft tools, items, and weapons.
You can hatch dinosaur eggs. Afterwards, you take care of the dinosaurs, nurture them, and ensure they grow. Later, it is possible to ride them.
Story Mode
The “Brainwave Device”, which keeps the dinosaurs under control, has malfunctioned. Consequently, the dinosaurs run amok.
You need to defend the base together with your friends by crafting your own weapons.
Create spears, swords, pistols, grenades, and more to stop the dinosaurs.
Multiplayer Excursion Mode
Together with friends, you explore the game world to discover secrets.
Use maps to uncover the secrets.
Many objectives can only be achieved by working together as a team.
Release Date Set
You determine how you want to experience Ark Park. You will learn how it plays on March 22 when Ark Park is released – provided you have a VR headset.
In Anthem, there are indications and evidence that you will not only play in third-person, but also in first-person.
Anthem is a third-person shooter. This was clearly communicated during the reveal at E3 2017 and underscored with gameplay footage. Third-person means that the camera is positioned behind the playable character, allowing you to see them from behind and look over their shoulder. Another well-known shared-world shooter played in third-person is The Division.
Anthem in third-person
The site Comicbook.com has now made an interesting discovery, which fuels speculation that you will play in Anthem not only in third-person, but also in first-person perspective: In a job listing, BioWare Austin is looking for a gameplay designer with “experience with gameplay mechanics in first or third-person shooters.”
The first-person aspect in Anthem
Leading the development of Anthem is actually BioWare Edmonton. However, BioWare is currently reallocating most of its resources to Anthem, which is why BioWare Austin is also working on the MMO shooter. The job listing from BioWare Austin explicitly seeks a “Principal Gameplay Designer for Anthem”.
Some speculate that the mention of “first-person shooter” in the requirements could indicate that Anthem will feature an alternative first-person mode where you play in the first-person perspective. Perhaps you can switch freely between 1st and 3rd person – or?
However, this is probably just wishful thinking from some fans, even though BioWare has not yet made an official statement on the matter.
Because: The information that Anthem will feature a first-person aspect is actually not new. However, this perspective is limited to the hub area, the bazaar. In the gameplay reveal, it was shown that the player controls their character in first-person in the hub:

Last year, game director Jonathan Warner confirmed via Twitter that Anthem switches to first-person view once the player enters a hub. “Outside” in the open world, where the action takes place, it is played in third-person.
Interestingly: In Destiny 2, it’s exactly the opposite. In combat zones, it is (mostly) played in first-person, while in social spaces, the camera switches to third-person perspective.
There are more details about the Dark Iron Dwarves. We tell you which classes the allied race can choose in WoW.
The alpha test of Battle for Azeroth has finally begun. The first players have already been invited and can enter the first zones of the latest addon of World of Warcraft. This is accompanied by additional information from data mining, as the crafty professionals dissect the game files in detail.
New information about the allied race of the Dark Iron Dwarves has now been revealed. It has become known which classes the Dark Iron Dwarves can play.
The classes of the Dark Iron Dwarves
Dark Iron Dwarves will have the option to choose the following classes in Battle for Azeroth:
Death Knight
Hunter
Mage
Monk
Rogue
Warlock
Warrior
Paladin
Shaman
It is strange that the Priest is not listed here, as Moira uses Priest abilities among others. The Death Knight is also odd, as it was said that allied races could not become Death Knights.
Please consider that these details are still early information from the Alpha and may change before release.
The Dark Iron Dwarves joined the Alliance in the aftermath of the Cataclysm and have since been part of the “Council of Three Hammers,” which rules over Ironforge. For a long time, the Dark Iron Dwarves were enemies living in Blackrock Mountain and had sworn allegiance to the elemental lord Ragnaros after they dug too deep.
Are you looking forward to the Dark Iron Dwarves? Which class will you play when the new Dwarves are available? Or are you not interested in these Dwarves at all?

The situation around bots in the space MMORPG EVE Online seems to be escalating. The developers have now stated that they will definitely take action against the problem. They are declaring war on the bots with strong words.
Players of EVE Online are slowly losing their enjoyment, as bots are ruining the economy and even influencing the power structures in the galaxy. Those who play honestly and work hard for everything feel cheated. The developers at CCP Games are also aware of this, having previously announced plans to take action against bots.
A threat against the bots
Therefore, developer “CCP Peligro” has now issued a threat against all bots. Whether you take action client-side or otherwise, they will deal with the bots. There was a meeting where this urgent issue was discussed, and they unanimously decided to take strong action against those using bots.
However, players are showing skepticism. Botting has been a significant problem for over a decade that is now spiraling out of control, and only now is it being taken seriously by CCP Games. The developer studio explains that they wanted to make it clear with this statement that they hear the criticism and that they will take action. But players do not have to believe the team; they will see for themselves when the measures go online.
A new update is coming
When this will happen is currently still unclear. However, it is unlikely to be in the next update, which will be released on February 13. This is expected to bring the following:
A revision of Upwell structures
Abandoned structures should become easier to attack
Active structures should be able to defend themselves better
There should be better balancing between attackers and defenders
Take-Two is the company behind Grand Theft Auto V and will release Red Dead Redemption 2. What do they think about the battle royale successes of PUBG or Fortnite? Are they planning to have such a mode themselves?
A few days ago, a leak regarding Red Dead Redemption 2 surfaced. It stated that the western shooter aims to include a battle royale mode. There is also a similar mode in Grand Theft Auto V called Motor Wars, which puts vehicles more in the spotlight than the market leaders.
Is Take-Two planning to venture into the territories of PUBG and Fortnite in the future?
Derivatives never as successful as the original
In an earnings call, CEO of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, commented on the current battle royale phenomenon. Zelnick made it clear that they acknowledged this success, but they have doubts whether future derivatives of this game concept will be as successful.
Even if variations are well-made, they never work as well as the original because that was an unexpected innovation, the CEO said.
Zelnick returns to Red Dead Redemption. Back in 2010, western video games were generally thought to be dead. Rockstar took a high creative risk in developing such a game. Nevertheless, they achieved significant success with the unusual title.
Ultimately, we do what the players want
Furthermore, it is hard to motivate employees at Rockstar and 2K to simply create a variant of an existing game. After all, they see themselves as a place where highly creative people can work safely.
Nonetheless, Zelnick does not rule out that they will release a battle royale game. Ultimately, it is their job to listen to the players’ wishes and give them what they want.

The key to success in Fortnite: Battle Royale lies in building fortifications – that is known. But which fortifications should you build? When is the ideal time to do so? And what does the perfect fortress look like? We answer all the questions and provide tips in our guide to building forts, fortifications, and cover.
Reaching the endgame of a match in Fortnite: Battle Royale is not difficult. In fact, you can hide for most of a game without drawing much attention.
Actually winning a game, that is a whole different challenge.
Enemies who have entrenched themselves in higher builds have the advantage – always! Even though building a fortress means revealing your position – do it anyway. Only in rare cases will opponents aggressively attack you and try to storm your fortress.
We will show you when and where you should erect fortifications, how they should be built, and how you can win games with their help. We will also address how to destroy enemy structures and put opponents in a hopeless position.
Where do I find what resources for building? – Building materials
In Fortnite: Battle Royale, you have access to three different resources, each with its advantages and disadvantages:
Wood
Stone
Metal
Generally, you can find all resources everywhere. However, in some places, they are more concentrated than in others:
Wood – Trees are the best source of wood. You can find them everywhere, good gathering spots are the Wailing Woods or the area west of Tilted Towers. You can also harvest wood from pallets, which are increasingly found in industrial areas (for example, the unnamed area northwest of Flush Factory).
Stone – You can obtain stones by destroying corresponding houses or from the stone piles scattered around the map.
Metal – Metal is the strongest resource for building fortifications and can primarily be harvested from vehicles. The perfect spot is the trailer park east of Retail Row.
How many resources you should gather at the beginning of the game largely depends on your play style. Are you more cautious and take out only a few players during a match? Then you should start with a decent supply.
Aggressive players who rack up many kills need relatively few resources at the beginning since opposing players drop all resources upon their demise.
If you manage to hoard 500 units of each resource during a game, you will be well equipped for the endgame.
In every case, the hardest resource, metal, is not necessarily the best choice for building. Specifically under fire, wood is much more suitable as it is built much faster and thus provides initial the best protection.
Stone and metal are preferably used in the endgame since a fully built fortress made from these resources offers optimal protection. For most of a match, you will primarily be dealing with wood.
You should also use wood when you want to reach inaccessible places or mountains – save stone and metal for the endgame!
How do I use resources under fire?
Wood is the best resource for fending off enemy fire during a game. However, the right application must be learned. An opponent who sees you first and opens fire will most likely kill you if you do not build cover.
Once you notice that bullets are flying around you, immediately switch to building mode and construct wooden pieces between you and the opponent. Then build a ramp in the direction from which the shots came. Ideally, you will now have a height advantage and can survey the situation.
It is important that you do not completely box yourself in so you have an escape route available. Also, do not build only one wooden wall between you and the opponent, but multiple (horizontally). This makes it harder for opponents to locate you and gives you more options to shoot from cover.
If you master this principle, you can emerge victorious from a disadvantageous situation more often.
What to do when the opposing player is aggressively attacking and your cover? Make sure you always keep an eye on your enemy and build accordingly wooden pieces to confuse the opponent.
The opponent is building a ramp to gain a height advantage themselves? Cover your position with roofs that make it difficult for the enemy to determine your exact location. The building tool in Fortnite is variable and powerful – the player who knows how to use it better will win.
As the game progresses, the likelihood of encountering enemy players increases, as the available map area becomes smaller. As a rule of thumb: Once the safe zone has shrunk two or three times, you should consider building a fortress.
Depending on how the storm progresses, this may not be your last fortress in this round.
In general, you must be flexible and always watch the storm’s progression. From your high position, you should ideally also be able to observe other players and their movement patterns.
Where should I build a fort?
Now it comes down to your tactical skill! Generally, fortifications should be built at the edge of the safe zone. Why? Behind you is the storm, which means one less direction to watch (at least after some time).
You will also not be presented to the remaining players on a silver platter, as you cannot be spotted from every direction.
This principle does not always apply. If there is a mountain nearby, consider building your shelter at the top. You will be very visible there, but you will overlook everything else and have a fantastic view.
Approaching players will be immediately spotted and can be shot at. For better visibility, you should eliminate obstructive trees nearby with gunfire or cut them down beforehand. The better the visibility around your base, the sooner you will spot enemies trying to storm your base.
So always pay attention to the terrain around you. Where do you have a strategic advantage? Where can you easily reach a high position? How good is the visibility of the surroundings? You should always weigh these things when you want to erect a fort.
But beware! – Other players will be considering the same things as you. A strategic point is often hotly contested. Speed pays off, therefore. If you arrive last in the safe area, the best spots on the map will already be occupied. So, be quick to set off as soon as the safe map section shrinks.
In summary, you should consider the following points when choosing the best place for your fortress:
Make sure you hold the highest point on the map with your fort. Enemies above you will eliminate you if they spot you – guaranteed.
Build your fortress so that you have a perfect overview – eliminate obstructions like trees and do not build too close to buildings, as these could serve as cover.
Fortifications placed at the edge of the map have the charm that you have one less direction to keep an eye on and can fully concentrate on what is happening in front of you.
How high should my fortress be?
At a certain height of your fortress, you will take fall damage if you have to retreat. Three stories are safe, but starting from the fourth floor, you will take damage when jumping. Always keep this in mind when planning your shelter.
You can avoid fall damage by installing horizontal plates on your fortress when falling, onto which you can land on your way down.
This obviously does not work if your fortress is completely leveled (e.g., with the minigun). In that case, you must live with fall damage. So make sure not to build your structures too high.
What should my fortress look like?
At the beginning, try simple builds. Using a basic size of 1×1, simply build four walls around you, add a ramp, an intermediate floor, and again four walls around you.
Keep doing this until three stories are built. On the ramp, you can now observe your surroundings. An important criterion is speed. Practice building fortifications in a remote location – north of the Wailing Woods you can stock up on wood in the nearby forest and get started right away.
The risk of being surprised by other players is low. Once you master the basic size of 1×1, build your fortifications in a 1×2 format. The advantage: you can place two ramps in opposite directions and thus have a better overview of your surroundings.
The size of your fortress also depends on the number of players in your team. In squad mode, the basic layout should be 2×2 so that you do not get in each other’s way.
Once you have the basic fortifications down, you can further reinforce your buildings and even create space for a campfire or a launch pad.
In fortifications with a 3×3 layout, you have enough space in the center for a launch pad, which can save you from tricky situations. You can also build ramps outwards to create an extension, making it harder for opposing teams to overwhelm your fortress with a ramp.
Summary / Conclusion
Plan your fortress strategically! Do you always hold the highest point? Can you overview the surrounding area well? Practice building in abandoned places – the coordination of the individual building components needs to be ingrained so that you can build fortifications in your sleep.
If you are shot at or overwhelmed, do not panic. Have a plan B and an escape route ready in case things get tricky.

The racial bonuses for another allied race from WoW have been revealed. We will show you the powers of the Dark Iron Dwarves!
With Battle for Azeroth, the next expansion of World of Warcraft, there are numerous new races that players can unlock. While there are already Lightforged Draenei, Void Elves, Nightborne, and Highmountain Tauren, with the launch of the addon, Zandalari Trolls (Horde) and the Dark Iron Dwarves (Alliance) will also be introduced.
Little was known about the Dark Iron Dwarves until now. However, the latest update of the alpha server for Battle for Azeroth has revealed many new details about this race, including their racial bonuses.
Racial Bonuses of the Dark Iron Dwarves
Every Dark Iron Dwarf will have the following additional powers:
Dungeon Delver: As long as the character is in a building/dungeon, they move 4% faster.
Fireblood: Removes all poisons, diseases, curses, magic, and bleeding effects and increases your primary attribute by 100 for each effect removed. Lasts for 8 seconds.
Forged in Flames: Reduces physical damage taken by 1%.
Mole Machine: As long as you are outdoors, you can summon a mole machine that burrows through the earth.
Mass Production: Items crafted through blacksmithing are produced twice as fast.
How exactly the “Mole Machine” will work remains to be seen. It primarily sounds like a fun gadget that may serve as a Hearthstone replacement or have another effect without influencing combat. At least the “Fireblood” will likely prove powerful in PvP and PvE when there are fights with particularly many negative effects.
What do you think of the racial abilities of the Dark Iron Dwarves? Do you like them and do they fit well? Or are they perhaps too powerful?
