PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PC, Xbox One) is no longer just a battle royale game for certain players. Without much announcement, the developers have implemented a new deathmatch mode called “War”.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is actually a battle royale game. 100 players parachute onto an island, the last player (or team) wins. There are no respawns. Each player starts unarmed and has to scavenge for weapons. Meanwhile, an unstoppable death zone is closing in. Those who don’t escape in time die a miserable death.
So far, so familiar, but the new game mode “War” does everything differently!
Deathmatch instead of Battle Royale
Instead of further developing the battle royale mode, the developers have created a new game mode and quietly implemented it on select custom servers of the PC version. These servers are only open to PUBG partners and certain YouTubers and streamers.
There, you can extensively play the new game mode “War”. The rules of War are:
Instead of being the last to survive, you need to accumulate points in the War mode.
Points are gained by kills, and the team that first reaches 80 points wins the round.
Whoever completely kills an opponent earns three points. If the opponent is only knocked down and later revived, one point is still possible.
If you die, you can respawn in a safe zone after 60 seconds and are protected from campers.
You all start with a submachine gun and can start shooting right away.
Every 60 seconds, a supply drop is released. It contains the usual items that such drops normally have.
So far, the new War mode is in an early development stage. Therefore, the developers want to test it thoroughly before making it available to the general public. When War will be available on PC or even Xbox One is still unclear.
More action than in regular PUBG
According to initial reports about the new mode, the game runs much faster and wilder than in the more deliberate battle royale PUBG. Especially beginners can take their time to get used to the game and gunplay of PUBG.

The Kanto Week in Pokémon GO focuses on Generation 1 and lots of candies. We will show you the rewards.
Trainers, the Japanese website of Pokémon GO has now announced the Kanto Week. We are still waiting for the English or German announcement of the event, but the key details can already be inferred from the translation. At around 5:00 PM German time, the official announcement came. The article has been updated accordingly.
Kanto Week in Pokémon GO
With the arrival of Mew in Pokémon GO, all known 151 Pokémon of Generation 1 are now available in the game. This milestone is to be celebrated with the trainers.
Today, on April 10th, Kanto Week in Pokémon GO will start. The start is at 10:00 PM in Germany – the usual start time that we are already familiar with from past events. The event will end on April 17th at the same time.
More Kanto Monsters: Kanto Pokémon have a higher spawn probability. According to the announcement, you should have a chance to complete your Kanto Pokédex. (Are the developers teasing regional Pokémon here?!)
Candy Rewards: “Additionally, you will receive double the candies for Kanto Pokémon” – This vague statement in the announcement leaves many questions unanswered. In the English version, it states double candies “for all actions” – How it turns out, the bonuses also apply to Gen 2 and Gen 3.
New (old) Raid Bosses: There are also changes in the raids of Pokémon GO. Snorlax and Aerodactyl are returning as raid bosses in the arenas. Whether these are the only new raid bosses is still uncertain. You can find all new raid bosses in this overview.
Special Offer Boxes: For the event, there will be offer boxes in the shop again. These will include raid passes among other items.
Progress for Medal: Due to the changed monster spawns and raid bosses during Kanto Week, trainers should be motivated to elevate their Kanto medal to gold status.

And what about Shinies?
Now the trainer community finally has certainty regarding the mysterious Kanto event. But what about all the Shinies that have been mentioned repeatedly in recent weeks?
The official announcement does not mention Shinies. The community suspects that along with the higher spawn probabilities, there is also a chance to catch shiny monsters of Generation 1. That would fit well together.
After the event starts, we will keep an eye on the trainers’ reports. If there are new shiny monsters, they will be reported quickly and we will cover them here at Mein MMO.
The director of Monster Hunter: World, Yuya Kokuda, spoke in an interview with Gamespot about the accessibility for newcomers and the great success of the game. The formula for success for Monster Hunter World seems to be combining the Japanese uniqueness and complexity of the series with increased accessibility and friendliness for beginners.

Balance between accessibility and complexity
One of the goals during the development of Monster Hunter World was, according to Kokuda, the accessibility for newcomers to the series. Some mechanics and gameplay elements that arose during development were accordingly revised or completely removed.
According to Kokuda, the three most important aspects of Monster Hunter are action, multiplayer, and “gameplay loop.” These should be developed in MHW in such a way that new players can progress far enough in the game to experience and enjoy them.
According to this, one of the biggest challenges during development was to make the controls and tutorials pleasant.
The team tried to make the system as user-friendly as possible within the given budget and release deadline.
However, Kokuda is aware that there is still room for improvement, such as with online multiplayer. He also wants to work on that in the future.
Despite all the accessibility, care was taken to ensure that the depth and complexity of the gameplay are not neglected. The hardcore fans of the series should not feel that Capcom is boring them with simple gameplay.
And despite the accessibility for newcomers, the game should feel mysterious and intriguing. After all, it’s about exploring new areas and their ecosystems. Director Kokuda wanted there to be information in MHW that is first discovered by players and then shared among themselves through forums or Twitch streams.
This balance, however, is hard to maintain, and Kokuda believes there were still players who stopped playing MHW because they lacked information and thus could not progress.
Awe at the sales numbers
Although Kokuda was confident in the quality of his game and was optimistic that it would be well received by players, the high sales numbers of Monster Hunter: World were still surprising to him.
He believes that part of this success is due to the growing popularity of games with complex combat systems, like the Souls series, and gameplay depth, like Witcher 3 and Horizon: Zero Dawn.
The director advises other Japanese manufacturers to try to understand the play style of the western audience, but primarily to work on and polish the typically Japanese features. These are unique and are gaining popularity again.
With the release of MHW on the current console generation, the director’s wish to represent monsters as part of the ecosystem was fulfilled. As a result, there were, for example, the brutal territorial battles.
The team will focus first on the ongoing content and DLC support of the game with new monsters and quests in the near future. Whether there will be an Ultimate version of MHW has not been explicitly confirmed by Kokuda. Also, the director cannot yet make any statements about the G-Rank monsters.
In the end, he revealed that his favorite monsters are Nergigante and Xeno’jiiva. The former due to the fast-paced and action-packed combat, and the latter due to its great design.

In Black Desert, there is currently a costume contest taking place. On a special webpage, players can vote for various costumes. The winning costume will be implemented into the game by the developers. The community is divided on whether female characters should receive more modest costumes that do not always focus on showing underwear.
The developers Pearl Abyss regularly hold costume contests. Talented fans can submit their costume ideas, and the community then votes on them.

Radical Heights is a free-to-play battle royale shooter that starts early access on April 10. You can download the game for free on Steam. So far, we have screenshots, a brief description, and a trailer. Altogether, the game gives an impressively quirky first impression.
For its battle royale shooter Radical Heights, Boss Key has taken a large handful of 80s and kitsch and mixed it into the development. Bright colors, disco music, fitness trampolines, confetti, and BMX bikes are likely an important part of the game.

Radical Heights is a passionate project that the team has built in just under 5 months, explains Zach Lowery, the creative director of the game. “We are big fans of battle royale games along with the bright, inviting irreverence of 80s aesthetics. That’s why we want to bring our own twist to the genre and create a futuristic 80s world set in 2023 during a game show where participants compete for fame and prizes.”
The statement sounds a bit complicated but reflects well the interesting characters behind the project. They are not held back by any taste barriers but produce what they feel like.
