The devCAT studio from Korea is working on a new title. After the action MMO Vindictus, there will be a MOBA with mechs: Ascendant One!
News from the Vindictus makers: The development studio devCAT is part of Nexon and is based in Korea. The developers were mainly known for the action MMO Vindictus. It featured particularly epic battles that resembled Dark Souls more than a traditional online game.
Now the Vindictus makers want to develop something new: The mech-MOBA Ascendant One!
Early access launch still in 2018?
What is Ascendant One about? So far, devCAT has only released the embedded teaser. In it, you see only a strange planet where various mechs are milling about. And then some things explode.
5vs5 action: According to further information, it is supposed to be a 5vs5 format. And then devCAT is likely planning various early access phases. The first of these is expected to start in the second half of 2018. Koreans can already sign up with their phone number.
So we might learn more about Ascendant One soon and why devCAT is counting on a MOBA game in 2018.

A bug in Overwatch allows Junkrat to kill any character instantly – at least at a very specific spot.
In Overwatch, players often find small glitches or strange behaviors of various abilities that lead to unintended effects. On the Volskaya map, a clever Junkrat fan has discovered how to kill rushing players in the blink of an eye. They just need to participate.
How does the bug work? On the Volskaya Industries map, on the way from the attackers to the first control point, players must pass through the ever-popular gate. There is a small “groove” in the game world, right under the gate. Junkrat can fire his grenades into this groove. They do not explode immediately and do not bounce further. The grenades remain in place for a while before dissolving on their own or being touched by an enemy player. Then, however, they explode all at once, causing up to 1,800 damage points, which instantly kills any character in Overwatch.

Exploiting the bug is not recommended. Players should not exploit this bug, as it could be considered an exploit by Blizzard and could lead to an account penalty in the worst case.
At least in some matches among friends, it might cause confusion – until word gets out and everyone knows about the little bug.
It is to be expected that Blizzard will fix this issue in the coming weeks, just as it has always done in the past with discovered bugs.

Fortnite is such a phenomenon that many want to buy and play it on PlayStation 3 (PS3) and Xbox 360. In which countries do players particularly wish for this, and is there a chance that Epic is planning a port for PS3 and Xbox 360?
Fortnite is a phenomenon: With the emergence of the free mode “Battle Royale” worldwide interest in Fortnite has increased. The hype began around November 2017. Players suddenly wanted to play it on the “old” consoles PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. They want to buy Fortnite on Amazon for PS3 and Xbox 360, start the download, and get playing. Probably because they only own these consoles. And they searched on Google for ways to get into Fortnite.
Interest in a PS3 port was higher than in a Switch port: The global Google interest in “Fortnite PS3” was higher than the interest in a port for the new “Nintendo Switch,” which did indeed happen. When a port for the Switch was actually approaching, the interest in “Fortnite Switch” exploded. However, especially in Germany, many still apparently only have a PlayStation 3 – here the interest in “Fortnite PS3” remained high for a long time, especially in Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Brandenburg.
Google Trends reflects the interest in search terms:
Where do people want to play Fortnite on PS3? Particularly in France, Spain, and South American countries, many still apparently have a PlayStation 3 on the shelf and want to join in on Fortnite.
Where do people want to play Fortnite on Xbox 360? Especially Mexicans seem to be keen on Fortnite on Xbox 360. Additionally, interest in some Eastern European countries is high: in the Czech Republic, Romania, and Hungary, for example.
Can you play Fortnite on PS3 and Xbox 360 or will you be able to?
Is it possible to play Fortnite on PS3 or Xbox 360? No, that is not possible. You can find some videos on YouTube that pretend to show actual gameplay of Fortnite on PS3. However, they all turn out to be “fake” or clear troll attempts.
Is Epic planning a port of Fortnite for PS3 and Xbox 360? No, nothing is known about this. It also seems unlikely that Epic is considering such a port. While it would certainly be a way to be more present in some markets, the number of people who only have a last-gen console is likely decreasing every day.
Where can you play Fortnite? Fortnite is playable on:
PC
Xbox One
PlayStation 4
Nintendo Switch
and mobile devices running iOS
A port for mobile devices supporting the Android operating system is planned and should be available soon
The Community Day in Pokémon GO brings you today Squirtle with sunglasses. To get it, you need to complete research tasks.
Squirtle Squad! Niantic is responding to the wishes of the Pokémon GO community and is hosting a Community Day this Sunday that will likely go down in history. Because today, you can catch Squirtle with sunglasses. It is unknown whether this event will repeat in Pokémon GO at some point.
How to catch Squirtle with sunglasses?
Special feature of the Community Day: During a Community Day in Pokémon GO, a specific Pokémon is more frequently found in the wild. Today, on July 8, it’s Squirtle. As a special feature, there is Squirtle in the squad outfit with sunglasses. To obtain this special form, you need to complete research tasks.
Research tasks with Squirtle: There are special Squirtle quests specifically for today’s event as research tasks. These are available at PokéStops during the event time from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. As a reward for these quests, you get a meeting with sunglasses Squirtle.
Which quests yield Squirtle? PokéStops give you the research task “Catch 5 Squirtle” – which then rewards you with a meeting with sunglasses Squirtle.
How frequently are the new quests? Some trainers have already participated in the Community Day with Squirtle in their region. They report that the Squirtle quests are distributed almost 100% at stops as research tasks. There are only a few stops that do not distribute the Squirtle research during the event.
Pokémon GO: How to get shiny Squirtle with sunglasses
What about shinies? You can also receive Squirtle with sunglasses in its shiny form through the new research tasks. The chance is reportedly one in 25 encounters.
Coordinate with each other! On Reddit, trainer bjrs493 writes that the shiny quests are the same for everyone. A PokéStop that distributes a research task with shiny sunglasses Squirtle gives that quest to everyone.
This means: Get a research task with Squirtle and complete it. If the reward is shiny, you can tell other trainers nearby. If they go to the same PokéStop, their Squirtle reward will also be shiny.

Bungie stays true to tradition and brings the Moments of Triumph in Destiny 2. This is a series of specific Year 1 challenges to complete in order to earn unique rewards. We summarize all the important details for you.
This came as a surprise: Not only around the Forsaken expansion are there news in Destiny 2. Without major announcements, the Triumph Moments surprisingly went live in time for Bungie Day on July 7.
With this, Bungie aims to reflect on the first year of Destiny 2 together with the fans and celebrate it with them. Guardians can earn cool rewards by completing numerous characteristic Year 1 milestones and thereby show that they were part of the first year of Destiny 2 and what they experienced.
The Moments of Triumph in Year 1 – Everything You Need to Know
What are the Triumph Moments? The Triumph Moments are a limited-time live event. During this event, Guardians can complete various in-game challenges that are characteristic of the first year in Destiny 2.
In this process, they collect points and can unlock certain rewards with an increasing score, which proudly show that they were part of Year 1 and achieved quite a bit.
How long does the event last? The Triumph Moments have been live since 7 PM on July 7. Guardians have until August 28 to master the corresponding challenges, earn points, and unlock rewards.
Participation Requirements: In principle, anyone who owns Destiny 2 can participate in this event and tackle the challenges. However, for some activities, challenges, and rewards, the expansions “Curse of Osiris” and “Warmind” are required. Players who do not own these DLCs will not be able to achieve the maximum score.
Earn Triumph Points: Triumph Points can be earned by completing certain challenges from various fields of Destiny 2. For each successfully completed triumph, there is a certain number of points.
Some challenges are already active. Others will be added on July 31 with the start of the “Solstice of Heroes” event. Many already active milestones are retrospective and will be counted retroactively. Many Guardians may have already completed some tasks – especially passionate fans may have even done everything that is available so far.
Keep in mind:
Completed triumphs can only be redeemed for points or rewards once the Solstice of Heroes goes live on July 31.
You can check your progress at any time in the Destiny Companion app or on Bungie.net . With the start of the Solstice of Heroes, you will also be able to see and track your progress in-game.
Your progress in the Moments of Triumph could be lost if you delete one or more characters from your account. To avoid potential problems, you should refrain from deleting any characters until all desired triumph rewards have been redeemed and the “Solstice of Heroes” event has ended.
These are the Triumph challenges available so far:
Lightbringer: Complete the “Red War” campaign – 10 points
Follower of Osiris: Finish the “Curse of Osiris” campaign – 10 points
Awaken the Warmind: Finish the “Warmind” campaign – 10 points
Fleeting Memories: Collect all 45 sleeping memories – 15 points
Check out my arsenal: Collect 25 exotic weapons or armor pieces – 15 points
Show me the way: Gain Sagira’s ghost shell – 20 points
The Best of the Best: Reach Vanguard rank 50 in Season 3 – 20 points
Treasure Hunter: Collect all regional chests – 10 points
I will crush you: Defeat 100 enemies in the Crucible – 15 points
Adventurous: Complete 20 adventures – 20 points
Hive Extermination: Complete level 7 in the Escalation Protocol – 20 points
Valor “Famous”: Achieve “Legendary” in “Valor” in Season 3 – 20 points
The Emperor: Defeat Calus in the Leviathan raid – 20 points
Prove yourself worthy: Complete the raid sections “World Eater” and “Star Chamber” – 20 points
Six more challenges are still unknown, five of which will be revealed with the start of the Solstice of Heroes.
The rewards known so far are:
Complete any triumph: A unique emblem that counts your earned triumph points.
400 – that is, all – points: “Eternal Triumph” emblem
Note: These rewards can only be redeemed from July 31. With the Solstice of Heroes, further rewards will be added that are explicitly tied to activities of this event.
The new open-world map on Venus for Warframe was revealed at TennoCon 2018: The Orb Vallis. Watch the reveal trailer here and listen to the epic song with earworm potential.
What is Fortuna? Fortuna will be a major content update for Warframe. The DLC brings a huge open world on Venus to the online shooter. The expansion also introduces a new faction: the Solaris.
Fortuna adds a lot of new content to Warframe:
You will become beast hunters,
there are new raid bosses,
you can become the commander of a battle spaceship
and fly through the open world on hoverboards.
When is the release of Fortuna? The release is planned for autumn 2018. Digital Extremes has not yet announced a specific release date.
Everything you need to know about the new open-world update is summarized for you in a hub:
The action online game Warframe is coming to the Nintendo Switch. This was just announced at TennoCon 2018. However, it is still unknown when the release of Warframe for the Switch will be.
The next platform: Warframe was released on March 25, 2013, for PC. It came to PlayStation 4 on November 29, 2013, and on September 2, 2014, it was released for Xbox One. Now the developer Digital Extremes has announced that Warframe is coming to the Nintendo Switch. This fits quite well, as Warframe is currently more popular than ever with the new update “Sacrifice”.
Warframe as a “slow burn”: Warframe is a phenomenon among online games. In 2013, the developer studio “Digital Extremes” was struggling and launched Warframe as a last-ditch effort. However, each year it seems the game is being received better by fans. They especially praise the familial and open relationship between players and developers. Since Warframe took the step into the “open world” at TennoCon 2017 with “Plains of Eidolon”, the flight of the space ninjas has gained further height.
Experienced Switch studio behind the port
Port has been outsourced: The studio “Panic Button” is responsible for the Switch port. They have successfully brought several games to the Switch, including “Rocket League.” A first trailer can be seen embedded above.
This comes as quite a surprise: Unlike other games like Fortnite, hardly anyone expected such a port for Warframe. Only a few fans had timidly expressed hopes. However, the developers of Warframe had already left the door open in April 2018 to consider such a port. The Switch currently still doesn’t have many online titles. But there will be more.
When is the release of Warframe for the Nintendo Switch? This is currently still unknown. However, the game will be free-to-play.
We are on site: Mein MMO is reporting live this year from TennoCon 2018 in Canada. Just a few hours ago, Digital Extremes announced here that they are bringing two new Warframes to their shooter. If further significant developments are announced in Ontario, you will find out about them here on Mein MMO.
Update at 1 AM: Read everything here now about the Venus expansion, and it really has a lot to offer:
At TennoCon 2018, two new Warframes were showcased: Revenant (Vlad) and Garuda. The brutal Garuda was shown for the first time at the Warframe festival. Revenant was already known.
Digital Extremes presented the new Warframe Garuda today. She was shown alongside the Warframe Revenant/Vlad at an art panel at TennoCon 2018. TennoCon is the major fan festival for the Warframe community.
The cover image of this article shows Revenant on the left and Garuda on the right.
Vlad was already shown in June during a dev stream. You can find everything about the Eidolon vampire here:
Who is Garuda? Not much is known about this Warframe yet. However, the developers described her as bloodthirsty (gory). Garuda is said to love playing with her prey. She is based on a Velociraptor, those are the biting creatures from Jurassic Park. Therefore, Garuda also has gigantic claws with which she will slash her enemies.
I, Leya, am currently at TennoCon 2018 and quickly snapped a picture of the new Warframe. You can also see concept art of Garuda in the image below.

Newly revealed details about the skills and abilities of the new Scorn race, which makes its debut with Destiny 2: Forsaken, show: The Guardians will have to stretch themselves to be able to take on these enemies.
The long-awaited new fifth race or not? This question has been on the minds of the Guardians since the introduction of the Scorn. As is already known, the Scorn are based on the Fallen, but they bring unique abilities, as GameInformer reveals in its extensive cover story on Forsaken.
Like the SIVA-infested Fallen or the Taken, the Scorn represent a mutation of the Fallen – and not a standalone new race with its own lore and background.
Six new enemy types: With the Scorn, six new enemy types are being thrown into the ring, each bringing different abilities to keep the Guardians on their toes.
If we also count the eight Barons, who also possess unique abilities and are not just larger versions of known enemies, we can expect a large repertoire of individual foes.
But what do the Scorn have to offer? GameInformer has detailed the individual enemy types.
From Screebs and Lurkers – the enemy types of the Scorn
Enemy types are meant to require individual approaches: While the enemies at the start of Destiny 1 only differed slightly from each other, the new enemy types in Forsaken come with unique abilities that are meant to force you to play agile and dynamically.
The following tools are equipped to the villains (the terms in parentheses are freely translated and may change):
Raiders – Raiders can teleport and swing with rotating saw blades made of pure Void energy
Screebs – Screebs move crouched and explode when they get close to you. This resembles the cursed representatives of the Hive, but the impact is said to be significantly stronger
Lurkers – Lurkers possess shields that can only be destroyed if you shoot them in the legs (perhaps a tribute to the Phalanxes from Destiny 1)
Mongrels – Mongrels are described as large, unleashing lightning strikes on their enemies. Although no element is specified, it is highly likely that it will be Arc damage.
Ravagers – The Ravagers swing lanterns made of pure fire (Solar energy). To prevent the Ravagers from slamming their lanterns to the ground, you must destroy them – otherwise, you will get a fiery geyser hit!
Chieftains – Chieftains can wield totems with all elements that provide different effects:
The Solar totem burns you
The Arc totem holds you in place and
The Void totem protects allies with a shield
Even if certain abilities may seem familiar at first glance, different movement patterns can indeed lead to a need for you to adjust your usual playstyle. How the abilities will affect gameplay will be revealed by the release of Forsaken!
What do you think of the new enemy types? Which one do you like the most?

The developers of Conan Exiles have promised a huge patch – which is now here earlier than planned. However, the early release brings some issues.
“Mother of all patches” is live, but causing trouble: On July 5, 2018, Funcom launched a patch for Conan Exiles that is supposed to fix over 500 bugs. However, since the patch, more and more players are reporting that the game is no longer playable properly.
Huge patch for Conan Exiles causing problems
Funcom attracted players with an offer to test the mega patch for a while. This allowed the developers to release the patch ahead of schedule. However, some players are now reporting that they can no longer play properly.
Patch active earlier than planned: The “500+-patch” for Conan Exiles was actually supposed to be released at the beginning of August. However, the developers brought the patch to the test live servers a few days ago and had some players test it.
With a huge “call to arms,” Funcom mobilized the community and got over 900 players to test the patch on the test servers. Testing took place from July 4 at 10 PM to July 5 at 10 AM in a stress test.
Free DLC with the “call to arms”: Players who tested the huge patch on the test servers were able to receive the new Aquilonia DLC for free, which will be released at the beginning of August.
For this, players had to create a new character on the test live servers and bring it to level 25 during the short testing period. This journey from Conan Exiles was probably not a great challenge for many players and was mainly lured by the promise.
The Aquilonia DLC was available for free as a reward.
Problems since the patch: Apparently, the offer for the DLC was more interesting to many players than actually testing the patch. Since the release of the new version of Conan Exiles on July 5, there have been several issues with the game.
It is especially reported that slaves suddenly fall through structures and die somewhere in limbo beneath the world. Additionally, performance seems to suffer for some players since the new patch. There are also increasingly frequent issues related to the journey, which is reset.
There seem to be some issues with slaves since the new patch.
For many players, the gaming experience has also improved. Since not all players are affected by the issues, some players are even suggesting “wipes” and “rollbacks” of the official servers. The servers should be reset or reverted to an earlier state to ensure fair conditions.
How about you? Have you experienced more issues since the patch, or is it running smoother? Are you in favor of a reset or are you satisfied with the changes? Let us know in the comments!

The Division 2 is, like its predecessor, an online game primarily designed for group gameplay. Many agents are therefore wondering whether the title will still be suitable for solo players. This is what Massive says.
According to Massive: Yes, solo players can, with a few compromises, find happiness in The Division 2.
It was like this in The Division 1
In The Division 1, much could be done solo: In the first part, it is possible to master nearly all endgame activities solo. For many, however, this is quite a tough challenge, especially the incursions and missions on legendary difficulty are completed by very few alone.
Nevertheless, no matter if
missions (up to the challenging level),
high-profile targets,
the underground,
or survival,
almost everything is doable with the right equipment and adjusted playstyle. With the world tiers, it is also possible to dynamically adjust the difficulty level according to personal preferences and thus gradually explore the maximum.
But the balance was tricky: Nevertheless, there have always been discussions about balance. Players who are organized in groups and clans find the current endgame nearly too easy, while solo players, who do not want to invest that much time, often perceive the game as too hard.
A “robust”, extensive campaign with some mysteries
In The Division 2, one can complete the campaign solo: As in The Division 1, it will be possible to finish the story campaign of the second part solo – including endgame activities, as GamingBolt learned from Associate Creative Director, Chadi El-Zibaoui:
The game is completely playable solo, even in-game activities. There will be certain activities, like the eight-man raids- of course, for this type of challenge players will be grouped with friends. But we have a very robust campaign, a deep narrative, lots of mysteries. So, if you’re solo player, you’ll have a lot to explore in the campaign. From day one we’ll really be delivering content for all kinds of gear. Not just for the hardcore fans, but even if you’re a solo player.
Solo players will again be offered several narrative elements, including some mysteries. From the release onward, the aim is to provide enough content for all player types, including solo agents.
What about activities like the raid? Of course, there will be endgame content that is likely not easy to complete alone. The newly announced raid for 8 players is one example.
This is meant to be the ultimate challenge for players, so it would certainly be a bit strange if this could be done solo.
It will be exciting to see how Massive will balance the difficulty level for single and team players this time. There is currently no concrete information on this. We will keep you updated.
See here how Massive wants to deliver the best sound for The Division 2.
In Pokémon GO there are Alolan forms from 7KM eggs. But what are the chances for Rattata, Vulpix, Meowth, Sandshrew, and Grimer?
What are Alolan forms? The Alolan forms have only appeared recently in Pokémon GO. So far, they are forms of monsters from the first generation. For example, a Weepinbell can appear in the wild in its “normal” form or as a giant palm tree representing its Alolan form. Many Alolan forms can be obtained from 7KM eggs in Pokémon GO.
Different rarity levels: Anyone who has hatched a few 7KM eggs in Pokémon GO knows that Meowth hatches particularly frequently from them. Other monsters like Vulpix are particularly rare finds from the new eggs. A statistic now shows what the chances are for the various monsters.
Rarity list for Alolan eggs (7KM) in Pokémon GO
Many Meowth: Since the release of the 7KM eggs, trainers have reported getting many Meowth from the eggs. Sandshrew or Rattata is not a rare find either. Grimer, on the other hand, hatches less frequently. And anyone who gets an Alolan Vulpix from an egg has a particularly rare specimen.
Update from August 1: The contents of the eggs and their percentage chances have changed.
Investigated: The experts from TheSilphRoad have captured a bunch of the Alolan eggs, placed them in their incubators, and recorded what hatched. For their statistics, they used 500 eggs. Here are the results:
There was an error on Steam with interesting consequences. Resourceful users were able to read the exact player numbers of almost all games on Steam.
The actual player numbers of games are an interesting metric often indicating the success of a game. Recently, there was a leak on Steam, which resourceful users could use to draw direct conclusions about the player counts of all games that have achievements.
How did the leak occur? Anyone accessing the Steam API could extract valuable data from the game’s achievements. The percentages of players who achieved an accomplishment were accurately reported, up to the 16th decimal place. From this, it was possible to perfectly backtrack how many players a game has.
Caution when analyzing the data. However, one should take these numbers with caution. Essentially, these figures only indicate how many times a game has been downloaded. They say nothing about the actual active players – this can be clearly illustrated by the example of Evolve, which boasts 4,826,928 players, yet barely 200 people play it simultaneously.
Some examples from the data. To give you a better picture of the scale of some games, we have highlighted a few numbers from the data.
Team Fortress 2
50,191,347 players
Counter Strike: Global Offensive
46,305,966 players
PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS
36,604,134 players
Warframe
16,334,217 players
Paladins
14,371,946 players
Grand Theft Auto V
12,604,123 players
War Thunder
9,536,732 players
Rust
9,147,240 players
Trove
7,700,319 players
Warface
6,656,284 players
Dead by Daylight
5,757,369 players
The data is from July 4, 2018.
Anyone interested in the complete dataset can download the CSV file from Arstechnica; the link can be found in our sources.
What do you think of these numbers? An interesting matter that provides more information about the actual size of a game? Or hardly meaningful since it has no relevance to the actual player count?
One of the biggest criticisms of Anthem since its presentation at E3 2018: Too large damage numbers and combo notifications. Not even four weeks later, BioWare presents a solution to the problem.
Recently, a new gameplay trailer was shown, which displays a complete mission in Anthem from the perspective of the Colossus class. While many players already call the footage the best so far, one criticism became evident again.
Damage numbers impair visibility: The damage numbers flicker across the screen with a size and frequency that makes it difficult to identify even the enemies. When two Javelins (the classes) fire their attacks simultaneously, combos are even possible. This is announced with the word Combo with every hit, further impairing visibility.
The executive producer Mark Darrah has now revealed in a Twitter post how Bioware has solved the problem:

Adjust the damage numbers as you like: Already at launch, you will have various options to modify the damage numbers:
Should the damage numbers even be displayed?
Adjust the transparency of the displayed numbers between 0-100%
Change the size of the displayed damage numbers
How exactly the settings will affect gameplay is not yet known. However, it is noteworthy that Bioware has addressed the criticism and resolved it in a very short time.
Anthem will be released on February 22, 2019, for the PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One platforms.
How will you adjust the damage numbers? Will you make them smaller – or prefer to do without them altogether?
Currently, a pretty crazy ARG is happening in Fortnite. It’s about a phone number and what digits one might type in to find out what is happening with Season 5 in Fortnite. We present the most important clues on Mein MMO.
What is an ARG? An “Alternate Reality Game” refers to games that use various media to blur the lines between real and fictional experiences. Such an “ARG” is currently taking place in Fortnite. There, a “burger sign” from the game world has vanished and appeared in a desert, but that was just the beginning.
Mysterious phone number. Players have traveled to the burger in the California desert and met a man described as a “secret agent.” He gave the players a card:
What is known? The topic is being heavily discussed on reddit. Amateur puzzle solvers believe Epic Games has hidden a riddle that may provide insight into the Season 5 in Fortnite.
Approaching the rift sounds with a spectrograph seems useless. No clear pattern can be seen.
The area code “712” could refer to July 12th. That’s when Season 5 of Fortnite starts.
The agent’s number “3678” means “Fort” when you map the numbers to a keypad – but it is useless to just type “nite”; that would be too easy.
If you call the number and press the asterisk (*) key, you can then enter a 4-digit code. Currently, it’s still unknown what exact code is required. Users have tried quite a lot.
Another user says that if you press the “8” key instead of the star, you will be asked for the first letter of the agent’s name.
What questions are currently open?
What 4-digit number should one type in?
And what are the first letters in the agent’s name?
We will keep you updated on Mein MMO if anything new comes up. At the moment, it’s just becoming tomorrow in the United States – the guessing game is likely to ramp up soon. Maybe you’ll join in?
What do we know so far? Currently, we only know that the PC release date for Monster Hunter World is supposed to be in Fall 2018. And we have occasionally heard: The controls on PC are better than expected.
Mein MMO is on it: We will keep you updated and report everything about the PC release of Monster Hunter World.
The Western epic “Red Dead Redemption 2” will have an online component, but that is not what is crucial for Take-Two’s CEO, Straus Zelnick. What matters is that it becomes a super game. The entry must also convince.
What Take-Two is about: In an interview with “GamesDaily.biz”, the head of Take-Two discusses the upcoming game “Red Dead Redemption 2.” It will be released on October 26. Zelnick strongly defends against being accused of making strategic decisions, claiming that Red Dead Redemption 2 is being turned into a multiplayer game just to make more money.
If you build a great game, they will come and pay for it
GTA V as a model? Take-Two has developed a wildly successful games-as-a-service game with “Grand Theft Auto Online,” which continues to make a lot of money years after its release. It makes sense to transfer this GTA model to the next game for profit reasons. But according to Zelnick, this is not what it’s about for Take-Two.
“Our interest is not in games-as-a-service, or singleplayer, or multiplayer, or episodic. Our interest is to grab our audience and provide them with the best entertainment anyone can offer. And if we do that and continuously give consumers more great stuff to engage with, then it will work out, and revenue will follow, and profits will come.”
Players need to be excited right from the start of Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 and Online: For Red Dead Redemption 2, Take-Two also aims to keep players engaged after the actual launch. But the initial experience has to be fantastic, says Zelnick. Otherwise, players won’t want to continue. Zelnick confirms that Red Dead Online is coming. Rockstar has already announced this. Thus, it seems clear that Take-Two is planning a games-as-a-service approach for RDR 2.
How will RDR 2 be monetized? Zelnick did not want to discuss monetization yet, because that is not the most important thing.
No one wants a Fortnite clone
Model Fortnite? Zelnick rejected the idea of orienting towards Fortnite. If you transform a release into a watered-down version of Fortnite, it would fail and be embarrassing for the brand. No one is looking for a Fortnite clone. If a battle royale mode is introduced in a Take-Two game, it should only be if it focuses on the customers and serves the core gaming experience.
Grand Theft Auto V is not a money printing machine: Regarding the ongoing success of “Grand Theft Auto Online”, Zelnick says, they did not create a “money printing machine,” but the best game anyone has ever seen. Consequently, customers are happy to pay for the game, and they keep paying.
What does it all mean? Like many studios, Take-Two is also working to turn “singleplayer franchises” into long-term “multiplayer games” for the new generation. This transition needs to be explained and made appealing to their “old” fans. However, it should not cause any friction. They want to offer singleplayer fans what they expect – and add the multiplayer mode on top as a cherry on the cake. Zelnick passionately assures this here, and this seems to be what he means by the “great entry experience” he speaks of for Red Dead Redemption 2: a strong solo campaign.
In the beta of WoW: Battle for Azeroth, Blizzard is a bit more relaxed. Players often get trolled!
Official statements from Blizzard employees are usually known for their political correctness and lack of humor. The statements are meant to be clear, understandable, and come across without much humor. In the beta test of World of Warcraft, things are a bit more relaxed, allowing the Game Masters and developers to have a little fun.
It seems that the developers are also enjoying the beta of Battle for Azeroth, as they allow themselves to play some pranks on their players.
The beta servers are regularly taken down to install new patches. Many players who are currently in dungeons panic about whether they can defeat the bosses in time. It certainly causes confusion when the messages about the server shutdown come in so rapidly:
Many players demand that finished characters at level 120 be made available to test the endgame content directly. Until now, one has to start at level 110. A server-wide message briefly caught the attention of interested players, only for them to roll their eyes in frustration after reading the server announcement:
“Characters at level 120 are available for all players. You just have to level them to level 120.”
Even in the eternal debate about “pineapple on pizza”, which flares up repeatedly in the trade channel, the GMs are happy to express their opinion. And how can you best provoke both camps? Right, simply by not being clearly for or against it and writing as a server message:
“My opinion on pineapple pizza is controversial. I like it, but I remove the pineapple before eating. I like the taste, but not the texture.”
It is nice to see that everything is a bit more relaxed in the beta.
Have you had any funny or entertaining encounters with a Game Master in World of Warcraft?
The weekly letter from the Bless Online producers discusses this week the players’ .ini hacks and optimization.
In the weekly “Producer Letter,” the Executive Producer of Bless addresses the fans directly and talks about the future of the game for the coming weeks and months. This week, he addresses a problem that has plagued fans since the game’s release.
The performance problem
Bless is not running smoothly yet. At the release of Bless Online, the game ran poorly on many computers. Therefore, performance guides became very popular, which showed players how to manually edit the game’s .ini files to disable less important graphic processes, thereby improving the overall performance of the game.
Players who used these guides performed a one-time check of their .ini files on their computers against the .ini files from the internet before starting Bless. A cumbersome process that Neowiz wants to simplify.
Neowiz is working on performance
Bless should run more smoothly. According to the open letter, the team is working internally on solutions so that players no longer have to modify the game’s .ini files to play. They want to unlock more settings in the in-game options menu so players have more control over performance.
Additionally, the team has identified some issues that significantly impact the game’s performance, which are addressed by modifying the .ini file. There are apparently issues with the UI Manager and level streaming. Furthermore, the team wants to remove unnecessary files to improve performance.
The servers should be more stable. Performance issues in Bless Online are not only due to the optimization of the game client. The netcode must be well-written, and the servers should run stably. It seems that there are problems with Bless in this regard. Particularly at the launch of Bless, there were almost daily server maintenance sessions to improve server stability. To find the causes of the poor performance, the team will conduct a stress test in a separate testing environment in July.
There’s also the hacking problem…
Neowiz is asking for your help. This week, community specialist Penta the Panther called on the official Discord channel for players to send videos of hacking players to the team so they can take action against them.
Players reacted differently to this. Some welcomed that Neowiz is dealing with the issue and taking action. Others see it as evidence that Neowiz has no real means to detect hackers in Bless Online. They suspect that Neowiz relies on players’ help to identify hackers.
Neowiz is swinging the ban hammer. The help of the players seems to have worked. The team of Bless has been busy in recent days and has banned hacking players. Neowiz thanks the players for their help in identifying hackers and clarifies that hacking violates the terms of service of Bless Online and will be punished with a permanent ban.
