Apex Legends has successfully concluded its first tournament full of highlights. However, pro player Shroud received criticism and was suddenly cut off.
What happened during the stream? During the tournament, Twitch’s studio briefly switched to Shroud in his private stream, where he was sharing his tournament experience. One might have expected an exciting scene, but it seems they had caught the wrong moment.
Because the pro was actually criticizing the event heavily and complained about the unfortunate tournament scheduling:
“Oh yeah, you can’t take a break! The format is really kind of crap! Four hours of continuous crap…”

The Twitch viewers couldn’t hear Shroud any longer, as the broadcast was cut off here and switched back to the Twitch studio.
It seemed like Twitch did not want to hear the criticism of the tournament and just cut Shroud off in the middle of his sentence. The viewers in the stream commented on this en masse with laughter in the chat window.
Twitch moderator slightly amused by Shroud
Why was Shroud dissatisfied? The pro gamer was apparently unhappy with the tournament scheduling. The tournament lasted a full four hours, and a “bathroom break” was not planned. This apparently did not sit well with Shroud. The criticism in Twitch’s studio was, however, taken humorously.
“Sounds like Shroud is just now realizing what he signed up for,” commented the moderator in the Twitch studio briefly and without further ado.
By the way, pro player Ninja from Fortnite snagged the victory at the Twitch Rivals tournament but received quite a bit of criticism for the win:
How many players should Anthem have at once? According to Electronic Arts, the online shooter is expected to sell about 6 million copies in the first 6 weeks. EA was disappointed by similar sales figures for Battlefield 5 in 2018,but for a new brand, that would be remarkable.
These are EA’s expectations for Anthem: As announced by Electronic Arts’ CFO, Blake Jorgensen, EA expects to sell 5 to 6 million units of Anthem by the end of the fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2019.
So Anthem has only 6 weeks to sell about the number of copies that Battlefield 5 has sold since its release.
This is what EA says: The CEO of Electronic Arts, Andrew Wilson, stated that the expectations for Anthem have not changed compared to the last quarter.
According to Wilson, the demo made it clear to people that Anthem is a different game than anything they have played before. Wilson believes there is a great opportunity for Anthem, not just this year, but the title is expected to sell well for a long time, while continuously expanding the game.
How many units is that in comparison? With 6 million units sold, Anthem would be about as strong as Battlefield 5, which sold around 6.2 million copies – but fell short of expectations and was a disappointment. EA had actually expected to sell a million more units of Battlefield 5.
Battlefield 5, however, was in a completely different situation as an established franchise compared to the “new brand” Anthem.
For BioWare’s last game, Mass Effect Andromeda, there are no exact sales figures. It is assumed to have sold about 2 million units. Currently, the franchise is on ice.

What was said? Last night, Activision Blizzard held its earnings call. The company leaders had to answer to investors. They discussed the successes and failures of the past year and gave an outlook on 2019 and the following years.
What exactly was said? The developer teams for all major franchises will be significantly increased over the course of 2019. In total, they want to raise the number of developers by about 20% and have already begun to “aggressively recruit new talent.” This will likely continue throughout the year. As a result, 2019 will be a rather quiet year, as there are no major releases from Blizzard.
More Warcraft and Diablo in the future: Blizzard cited World of Warcraft as an example of a franchise that continues to receive a lot of content even after years and delivers regularly. But new Warcraft games are also in planning, as “Blizzard is also investing in other Warcraft games and working on further ways to satisfy the community of this ongoing and beloved franchise.”
Also
for Diablo, the “number of developers” is steadily increasing. The
teams are working on several new projects, but also on the global
launch of Diablo Immortal.
Which games could come? The statements leave a lot of room for speculation. In addition to Diablo Immortal, work is reportedly also actively ongoing on a Diablo 4. A more action-oriented title, possibly from the first person perspective, has been discussed for Diablo from time to time but has never been confirmed.
For
Warcraft, fans are also expecting a mobile offshoot that
leans more towards strategy and delivers short, punchy rounds like
in Hearthstone. While fans are also yearning for a Warcraft 4, it seems rather unlikely for now, as Blizzard would then be competing with its own Warcraft 3: Reforged.
In summary,
it can be said that many Warcraft and Diablo games are planned for the
coming years. Whether they will target Blizzard’s “core players” remains to be seen.
However, anyone who is open to all gaming platforms has reason to be
happy.
Do you look positively towards the future? Are you already excited for many new games from Blizzard? Or are the negative news just too overwhelming for any joy to arise?
Our author Noah has long been at level 40 in Pokémon GO and now critically views the maximum level. For him, level 40 is too easy to reach and therefore worthless.
I love Pokémon GO and have been there since day 1. Leveling up in the game has always been a lot of fun for me. But I’m slowly getting tired of leveling and am annoyed that the XP is almost thrown at you.
Nowadays, it’s easier than ever to gain experience points. Leveling in the game has changed dramatically over the years. For me, this change is more negative, because now level 40 is hardly worth anything.
What particularly bothers me about leveling
When I recently went to a raid, I realized again how little significance level 40 has nowadays.
A Palkia was on the arena. I have often defeated this monster with two others. Now two other players also signed up for the raid with me. Both level 40.
But in the end, the three of us couldn’t defeat the raid boss. Simply because the other two players didn’t have decent Pokémon in their ranks.
This is a problem: Many players have reached level 40 so quickly and easily, that there is simply a lack of stardust and good Pokémon. Just because a player is at the maximum level doesn’t mean they have strong Pokémon.
This was different in the early days. And I preferred it that way.
This is how leveling has changed
This is why: There are now so many ways to level up quickly. Be it through raids or the friendship feature. But you don’t have to catch Pokémon for that.
I became level 40 when there were just raids for a month. Otherwise, there was only catching and evolving Pokémon to earn XP.
EXP inflation in Pokémon GO devalues the level
This is how one always received more EXP in Pokémon GO: When raids were introduced, I was quite shocked when they said you could get 10,000 XP for just one raid.
Now there is also the friendship feature. I find the amount of XP you get for a level-up to be way too high. You just need to open one gift a day and after 90 days you get 200,000 XP? That is not in any relation to normal leveling.
Even though you don’t receive the XP after just a few days, it is still much easier to generate experience points.
There is a lot of EXP for that: To illustrate the change of the EXP, I will show examples of what gives a lot of EXP and when these features were introduced:
Action in the game
Introduction
Amount of XP
Catch Pokémon
June 2016
100 XP
Evolve Pokémon
June 2016
500 XP
Legendary Raid
July 2017
10,000 XP
Become Best Friends
June 2018
100,000 XP
This is the result: Nowadays, a large part of the player base in my region is at maximum level. Many players only had to open gifts and activate a lucky egg. Many players don’t even have 10,000 Pokémon caught before reaching level 40.
When I leveled up in August 2017, I had already caught over 20,000 Pokémon. This is noticeable in the stardust and strong Pokémon.
That’s why I find level 40 worthless
This is what I think of the current maximum level: Don’t get me wrong. Reaching level 40 is still a great experience and a goal that many players have set for themselves. I just don’t find it comparable to a level-up back in the day.
The classic Pokémon catching should be in the foreground again and better rewarded. Sitting on the couch for 5 minutes and opening your gifts should not give more XP than several hours of intense Pokémon hunting. Here, the roles are simply reversed.
This is what I find unfortunate: A few days ago, I reached 100 million XP. You only need 20 million for level 40. However, at first glance, you can’t see any difference between me and a player who just reached the maximum level, even though the difference is huge.
If you can’t see the difference, then it’s difficult to plan raids. Can I do the raid with three people? Do we need perhaps a fourth player? This is no longer possible with just a simple glance at the level. Therefore, for me, this level is simply worthless now.
When you can get XP so easily, why not just increase the maximum level or make it visible to everyone how many experience points the players have?
A few days ago, I reached 100 million XP.
My conclusion: If nothing changes in the system, I will continue to find level 40 worthless, as it says nothing about a player’s strength and their Pokémon.
On one side, I’m always happy for players in my community who reach the maximum level, but on the other side, the level is becoming more and more worthless because players have to do less and less for it.
Are you level 40 and don’t know how to motivate yourself anymore? We have tips:
Fortnite: Battle Royale faces competition from the surprise hit Apex Legends. Top Fortnite player Tfue believes he knows the reasons and has advice for Epic on how to turn things around.
Why does Tfue think Fortnite is at a disadvantage against Apex? Tfue is the best Fortnite player in the world and has previously played various battle royale games. He knows his stuff.
It’s mainly because Fortnite is too complex and stressful for newcomers and casuals.
“The way these kids build in Fortnite today… Motherf**ker, if some lazy casual gamer comes into the game, they get walled in, trapped, and shot. How is that supposed to be fun for them?”
The skill gap, meaning the difference in skill between veterans and newcomers, has become too large in Fortnite.
In Apex, however, it’s different. There’s no building, and the game is still new and fresh; you just pick up a weapon and start shooting. According to Tfue, everyone can have fun and success in Apex Legends.
In Fortnite, however, newcomers and casuals face frustration and annoyance as they get devoured by better players.
Fortnite needs to be fresh and exciting again
According to Tfue, this is Fortnite’s big problem: Tfue believes Fortnite has a significant issue. And it’s not the currently overpowered hand cannon. The game has simply become too repetitive, too old-fashioned, and stale.
Even though Epic constantly changes things and throws in new weapons and items, the game has become too monotonous for Tfue.
This is the solution Tfue has for Fortnite: Therefore, Tfue demands that Epic finally change the game from the ground up. This primarily includes a new map. That would make everything exciting and new again.
A new map has long been demanded by Fortnite fans. However, nothing has been seen so far. However, the competition from Apex has already led to Fortnite suddenly announcing ranked play, a feature that fans have been waiting for just as long as a new map.
It’s quite possible that the upcoming Season 8 will change more than previously assumed. So far, little is known about it, so groundbreaking innovations may very well be on the way.
Players have stumbled upon hidden triumphs in the context of the Crimson Week in Destiny 2, which can be unlocked during the event. We will show you what you need to do.
Secret triumphs discovered: The Valentine’s Day event “Crimson Week” is currently ongoing in Destiny 2. During this festival of love, players can test the bonds with their best friends and grab all sorts of event-specific loot.
For collectors’ hearts, the event offers numerous exclusive rewards as well as new triumphs. However, some of these feats are hidden and are not even showing up in the database yet. Only once you fulfill them will they be visible in-game in the Triumphs tab.
What lies behind the secret triumphs: Aside from the 10 visible triumphs, there are three additional hidden ones that can be earned during the Crimson Week. Clever guardians have figured out how to unlock them. All three send you into the Crucible.
However, note that specific exotic weapons are required for these triumphs, which not everyone may possess yet. Particularly Year 2 exotics are still a foreign concept for some guardians.
Furthermore, there are no points awarded for these triumphs. They are a nice bonus for all collectors and completionists. They are not required for the exotic Ghost shell.
How to unlock the secret triumphs:
Avenged a team member in the Crimson Doubles playlist. Use the pulse rifle Wings of the Vigilant
Achieve a double kill in the Crimson Doubles playlist with the hand cannon Crimson
Take out an entire enemy team in the Crimson Doubles playlist. Use the rocket launcher Twin-tailed Fox
Keep in mind that you have until February 19 to earn these achievements. Then this year’s Valentine’s Day event ends. By the way, this is the last planned content for Season 5. You can learn what happens next in Destiny 2 here:
In Overwatch something is set to happen in 2019. The developers promise this in a conference call. We will show you what Blizzard has already announced.
In 2019, significantly more time should be invested in the game and more developers should be involved with Overwatch. Blizzard has not yet disclosed specific plans, but something is expected to happen.
What awaits Overwatch in 2019
This is how Blizzard wants to do more for Overwatch: In their “Earnings Call” for the 4th quarter of 2018, numerous Blizzard employees spoke about the changes in 2019. For Overwatch, Blizzard promised an expansion of the development team.
Despite the layoff of nearly 800 employees, Blizzard will increase the Overwatch team by 20% in 2019. More people will work on new features and improvements to the game.
Are there specific plans? So far, Blizzard has not said anything concrete about their plans for Overwatch. The developers stated that they have “numerous new ideas” for the game.
2019 will likely remain quite calm around Overwatch. The new developers are expected to be hired throughout the year. The new ideas will likely only be realized then. However, it might happen faster, and perhaps by the end of 2019, some new features might be visible. This remains to be seen.
That’s why it’s surprising: In their conversation, the developers also mentioned that the games Overwatch and Hearthstone experienced a decline in net revenues in 2018. They did not generate as much money as they used to.
It is all the more surprising that Blizzard is planning an expansion of the Overwatch team. Apparently, the company still sees significant potential in its game and wants to halt the decline in revenue.
What else has been said? In their conference, Blizzard also addressed their other games and provided insights into what is planned for these games. The plans are largely identical – more employees and more content, but probably not until 2020.
It remains to be seen when we can expect the innovations. The Overwatch team will likely not be expanded until the coming weeks. Now, it’s up to the community to find out what major innovations Blizzard is planning.
Despite the major innovations being announced, Blizzard’s financial situation in 2019 does not look very good:
The new trailer for Far Cry: New Dawn shows cosmetic items and the crazy unicorn trike of the game.
The release of Far Cry: New Dawn is imminent, the latest title in the Far Cry series. It directly follows one of the possible endings of Far Cry 5.
Colorful clothes fit the colorful world: However, the new installment takes place 17 years after a nuclear catastrophe. The world has been in regeneration for quite some time now. In many places, you’ll find colorful flowers and many plants that shine in their colors. It fits the bill to incorporate crazy colorful cosmetics.
The unicorn trike: Who wouldn’t want to speed through the post-apocalyptic world of Far Cry on a bright pink trike equipped with a machine gun? This is probably a question the developers at Ubisoft asked themselves and decided to gift all pre-order customers this cute vehicle.
It can accommodate a driver and a passenger. The passenger then stands in the back in the shooter’s area and can shoot the Highwaymen that cross your path during your adventures.

A new update for World of Warcraft has arrived on the PTR. Check out the dances of the Allied Races “Zandalari” and “Kul Tirans” here.
While there are currently some restructurings happening at Blizzard, a new patch has been deployed on the test server of World of Warcraft. The latest version of Patch 8.1.5 brings some new animations for the Allied Races of the Zandalari Trolls and the Humans of Kul Tiras. They finally have their own dance animations!
The dance animations of the Kul Tirans: The male Kul Tirans seem to be in a party mood and have a rather silly dance that is probably loosely based on this video.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the best-selling console franchise of the past year. However, the title apparently fell short of the expectations of the publisher Activision.
This is what Activision says about the numbers of Black Ops 4: Recently, Activision Blizzard held its quarterly report. During the so-called Earnings Call for investors, business figures are published and the performance as well as the future of the product portfolio is discussed.
It was mentioned that the current “Call of Duty” title Black Ops 4 had a strong fourth quarter. However, despite the good numbers, Activision expected more – especially in the second half of Q4. Black Ops 4 apparently did not generate as much revenue as originally hoped.
Overall, Activision Blizzard reportedly achieved the best results in the company’s history in 2018, but did not meet its own financial expectations.
This is how Black Ops 4 performed: Activision highlights that Call of Duty was still the world’s best-selling franchise of the year on consoles – as it has been in 9 of the last 10 years.
In the last quarter, they surpassed the predecessor Black Ops 3 in terms of units sold. Additionally, the units sold on PC more than tripled. Sales of seasonal content were also promising, according to the publisher.
This is what happens next with Call of Duty: Despite the layoff of nearly 800 employees, they will increase the development teams around the strongest franchise by about 20% during 2019, according to Activision. In other areas like publishing and eSports, staff will be reduced.
In the same context, they have already revealed first details about the new Call of Duty for 2019. The upcoming title from Infinity Ward is supposed to feature a single-player campaign again and connect to one of the franchise’s most important stories.
The new battle royale game Apex Legends is even popular among players who didn’t like games like Fortnite or PUBG. What is the reason for this? We want to find out from you in a survey.
If you look at forums, newsboards, and the comments here at MeinMMO, you often see sentences like “I actually don’t like battle royale, but Apex Legends is great!” Even here in the editorial team, seasoned battle royale refusals suddenly sneakily peek at Apex Legends.
Many players, especially fans of Overwatch, love the idea of different heroes with their own skills and personalities. And that’s exactly what Apex offers with its currently eight legends. Depending on the selection in the team, you have different tactical options.
With Lifeline on the team, you can heal yourself at any time and better revive. Wraith enables surprise attacks, Bloodhound reveals enemies, and Tank Gibraltar provides protection in wild bullet hail.
There is no building, just shooter action
Many Fortnite fans enjoy the fast gameplay but hate building. They prefer to focus on shooting and can’t stand it when the opponent first builds a house.
For these players, Apex is probably optimal, as no one has to build anything here and can instead happily shoot away and focus on the fight.
The gunplay is great
Many fans praise the good gunplay of Apex Legends. The weapons have no wild bloom, meaning there is no random deviation when shooting. Instead, the shots usually hit where you aimed.
The developers of Apex have made sure to include cool features that make battle royale even better. With simple clicks, you can set pings and optimally inform the team where loot lies, where to go, and where enemies are lurking. It’s so simple and practical that even the most anti-social random group uses it.
You can also jump together at the beginning of the game and land as a team in the target area instead of scattered wildly across the map. This also benefits random groups.
Also praised are features like the shields that can be activated when going down or the additional respawn when friends recover your banner after your death and activate it at respawn beacons. This gives Apex more chances for a comeback after death, thus providing more fun and teamwork.
The game is 18+ and free to play
Many players actually like battle royale but don’t want a game with the colorful, child-friendly Fortnite look and the hordes of kids that hang around there.
Sure, there are PUBG or Black Ops 4, but they each cost money, and those who just want to take a peek into the BR genre will be put off by that.
Apex is 18+ and free to play. Therefore, anyone can try it out and take a look. And you probably won’t find huge hordes of kids there either.
What is your opinion?
We want to know from you why you like Apex so much. For this, we have included the survey here.
Perhaps you also have your own reasons that make Apex the top BR game for you. Click “Other reason” and write it in the comments.
We will evaluate the survey later and create a detailed article on the topic.
Apex Legends has already hosted its first tournament called “Twitch Rivals Tournament.” In it, the Fortnite pro Ninja won with an extremely narrow victory. However, some said Ninja was just “carried.”
This is how the first tournament in Apex went: In Apex Legends, the Twitch Rivals Tournament was the first tournament. It involved several famous streamers performing in teams of three in regular matches.
This was the goal: In four hours, participants were to accumulate as many kills and wins as possible with their heroes in regular Apex rounds. Points were awarded for kills and wins. Whoever had the best score at the end received a prize of $8,000.
Additional ranks received progressively less, going up to rank 8 with $3,000 as the prize.
Ninja’s team wins narrowly
Among the participants in the tournament were notable streamers, including the infamous mustached DrDisrespect, the “human aim-bot” Shroud and Fortnite star Ninja, who teamed up with streamers KingRichard and Dizzy.
This is how Ninja’s team won: Throughout the tournament, spectators witnessed extreme scenes. The tournament participants showed no mercy and slaughtered their opponents as if in a frenzy. Thousands of kills and a massive number of wins were achieved.

In the end, Ninja’s team “Kings Canyon” was narrowly in the lead. Only a single point separated them from the second-placed team, which had more kills (369) but only 10 wins. The last match win made the difference, and this win was achieved in the final match of the tournament.
By the end, Ninja’s team had 355 kills, 13 wins, and thus 420 points. The second team ended up with 369 kills, 10 wins, and 419 points.
It couldn’t be closer. Ninja celebrated his victory with a tweet, in which he boasted an impressive statistic. According to him, he had already won the first official tournaments in H1Z1, PUBG, and Fortnite. Now he adds the first tournament win in Apex Legends to that list.

This is why Ninja is being criticized: However, Ninja’s victory is not well received by all fans. DrDisrespect, who participated in the tournament with moderate success and only managed to finish in 5th place, tweeted afterward, “It felt good to play with my normal crew of friends/streamers.”

Some fans see this as a subtle jab at Ninja. He teamed up with KingRichard and Dizzy, a crew that does not typically belong to his regular teammates.
“Ninja was carried.”
He was the star of the 1st Apex tournament: Especially Coby “dizzy” Meadwos characterized the 1st Apex tournament with outstanding skills.
He is considered the big winner of the tournament. dizzy actually comes from the CS:GO scene. He set the record for solo kills in APEX with 33 kills, thus eliminating more than half the lobby.
Because Ninja teamed up with such a killer, some viewers accuse him of being a tryhard who simply picked the best squadmates he could find. Unlike the Doc, who they believe played faithfully and honestly with his friends.
With EA Access or Origin Access, you can play Anthem before its release on PC and Xbox. In this guide, we will show you how to do this.
What is it about? The release of Anthem is on February 22, 2019. There is the possibility to play Anthem earlier through EA Access on Xbox One or Origin Access on PC. Unfortunately, this is not yet possible for PS4.
Early Access and Release for Anthem
Who can play Anthem and when? Who is eligible to participate in the Early Access of Anthem?
The different launch times for Anthem on various platforms are illustrated in this graphic:
What is Origin Access Premier PC? This is a subscription offered by EA for PC players. As a subscriber, you get access to the full version of Anthem a week early. You also gain access to a growing game collection, as well as a 10% discount on Origin purchases. The subscription costs €14.99 per month or €99.99 for a yearly subscription.
What is Origin Access Basic? This is the cheaper version of Origin Access. It costs €3.99 monthly and €24.99 annually. Here, too, you have access to 125 games.
What is EA Access? On Xbox One, you can subscribe to the EA Access subscription. It costs €3.99 per month or €24.99 per year.
From what time can you play? On Reddit , user blakeomafer shared a graphic with the launch times for Anthem. This is based on the assumption that the given launch times in Origin are displayed correctly. According to this data, the start times for Pre-Load, Early Access, and World Launch in Germany are:
Preload on PS4 and PC: February 13 at 19:00
The preload on Xbox One has already started
Early Access on PC and Xbox One: February 15 at 16:00
This concerns the 10-hour version and also Origin Access Premier
Global launch on PC, PS4, Xbox One: February 22 at 06:00
The differences between the Origin versions
The most significant difference you have as an Origin Access Premier member. You can dive into your Javelin with the full version of Anthem on February 15, a whole week before the release.
Play a week earlier for €15: If you want, you pay €15 for Origin Access Premier on PC and secure Anthem in its full version a week earlier.
The other two subscriptions are cheaper but also have fewer strong advantages.
What does the 10-hour limitation mean? If you are “only” a member of Origin Access (basic) on PC or EA Access on Xbox One, you can also start playing on February 15. However, the gaming experience is limited to only 10 hours. After that, it ends, and you have to wait for the regular release.
Note on Origin Access Basic: If you have subscribed to the Basic service of Origin Access, you can play the 10-hour trial of Anthem. This is included in the subscription and does not need to be paid separately. If you later decide to buy the game, you can simply carry over your progress.
Pokémon GO has caused a stir in recent weeks with the change to its visibility. Now there is another change.
This is what Niantic changed about visibility: The visibility in Pokémon GO has been a huge topic in recent weeks. Niantic first expanded it on your screen. You could now see more gyms and PokéStops. Fans loved this change.
Despite all the praise, Niantic suddenly reduced visibility. The developers not only decreased the radius back to the original value but made it even smaller. Players were furious and wondered why Niantic suddenly took away a great feature.
Developers backtrack: Now there is a conciliatory gesture from Niantic. In the latest update 0.133.1 , the visibility in the game will be increased again. However, it will be extended to approximately the original range before all the changes.
That’s why it was an important step
This is what Niantic did right: After the reduction of visibility, many players were angry with Niantic. Although the change now is not a huge step, it restores the old conditions.
Many players feel a bit calmer now. The shitstorm that arose after the reduction is gradually fading away. Niantic has pulled its head out of the noose and even managed to appease many trainers.
That’s why a wide visibility is important: For many players, larger visibility may not seem really important at first glance, but this feature brings various advantages.
You can see many more gyms and thus more raids. Coordination for raids becomes easier because more players can see and share these with other players.
Moreover, the expansion means more EX-Raid Gyms are in view of the players. They can directly inform fellow players that a raid is happening at these gyms. This makes triggering EX raids easier.
This is what players say: Many players have words of reconciliation for Niantic. On Reddit , the topic was widely discussed and received much support.
It is said, for instance: “It’s not as far as before the reduction, but I can live with it. I can see two more gyms again and am satisfied.”
What do you think of the change? Are you satisfied?

Anthem vs. The Division 2 – The Similarities
There are several points in both games where similar approaches or goals become evident.
What the two games have in common:
Both are third-person shooters
Anthem and The Division 2 both incorporate MMO elements and can be played in groups
Both are planned as “games as a service” and will continue to be developed after release
They allow you to explore large worlds
Both rely on story and RPG elements
Both thrive on their loot systems and increasing the gear score
What is the Gear Score? This number is calculated in both games based on the equipment being worn. The “stronger” the equipment, the higher your gear score. It is an indicator of your character’s strength.
Anthem vs. The Division 2 – What You Need to Know
In order to compare both games, we summarize their most important known features. This includes story and setting, as well as gameplay and RPG mechanics.
The Division 2: Story and Setting
This is what The Division 2 is about: The shooter takes place in an alternate version of our world, where a virus has broken out. Chaos reigns everywhere. In the midst of it is the Division, a unit of specially trained agents.
7 months after the events of The Division 1, which took place in New York, the second part is set in the US capital Washington D.C. Chaos has also broken out there, and civil war is raging. Players must act as Division agents to restore order.
The Division operates from the White House, which serves as the operational base. In collaboration with other civilians, they fight against brutal factions that have taken root in D.C. Throughout the game world, there are control points and settlements that the various parties are fighting over.
Throughout the story, the goal is to recruit new helpers, supply settlements with resources, and make D.C. safer.
This is what Anthem is about: Anthem takes place in a fantasy world, whose name is still unknown.
The world was created by an ancient species, revered as gods, called the Shapers. They used the “Anthem of Creation”, or Hymn of Creation, to create this world.
What remains is their mysterious technology and a world where the Hymn of Creation can trigger incredible phenomena at any time. The game world of Anthem is primarily a large jungle with many ravines and areas that are also underwater, based on the gameplay scenes so far.
In this world, players are freelancers in their javelins, constantly on missions. A large part of the human population lives in one of the few strongholds of humanity, in Fort Tarsis. There, the majority of the story unfolds, and players accept missions and quests.
Whether there are other cities or areas in the world of Anthem that are not just covered in jungle is still unknown. However, a large part of the map has already been compiled by a fan from gameplay.
Gameplay of The Division 2
This is how it plays: The Division 2 is more of a classic cover shooter, while players are very mobile in their movements. They can sprint, roll, jump over obstacles, and climb in certain areas. However, there is no way to specifically crouch or crawl.
Fights take place mainly in streets, on roofs, and in buildings. The areas vary from open to narrow. In combat, you encounter different enemy factions, whose members can use varying tactics and weapons.
Players themselves can rely on a vast arsenal of weapons and gear. In addition, there is a generous selection of skills. Players face the threats of the game world with up to four players per group. Raids can even be completed with 8 players. However, lone wolves should be able to participate in almost all activities.
Gameplay of Anthem
This is how it plays: Anthem is a third-person shooter, but it plays fundamentally differently than The Division 2. Players navigate in a javelin. This is a combat suit, the main tool in Anthem.
There are 4 different types of javelins, which essentially embody the game’s classes. Each of the 4 javelins plays completely differently and brings a set of unique abilities with it.
Thanks to these suits, you move around the game world like Iron Man, making Anthem play quite differently from classic third-person shooters. Anthem also relies on vertical gameplay. There is no cover system.
The Dark Zone and PvP Modes of The Division 2
One of the most well-known highlights of The Division 2 is the Dark Zone. This is an area where PvE and PvP elements are mixed.
This is how the Dark Zone works: In The Division 2, there are 3 Dark Zones where you can either hunt NPCs and gear, or fight other players and steal their loot. Rare loot is contaminated and must be extracted by helicopter once you’ve filled your bags.
To attack other players, you must first activate the rogue status. This is essentially a PvP mode where a player becomes a rogue.
Only as a rogue can you harm other players, but you can also be killed by others. In the Dark Zone, there is a separate ranking system with additional perks that can be unlocked.
The question of whether to become a rogue or not adds to the excitement and thrill of the Dark Zone. You never know if the friendly-looking stranger you just fought alongside will shoot you in the back and steal your loot in the next moment.
In The Division 2, you can customize your character with a huge selection of gear. The rarity of a specific piece is conventionally indicated by the color of the icon.
These are the weapon categories:
Assault Rifles
Shotguns
LMGs
Submachine Guns
Rifles
Sniper Rifles
Pistols
In total, you can equip up to three weapons. Two primary weapons, which can come from any category, and one sidearm.
These are the armor categories:
Vest
Gloves
Kneepads
Backpack
Mask
Holster
For each of these parts, there is a huge variety of different variants. Additionally, each piece has its own brand.
This is how brand and gear sets work: With the brand sets, you can customize your set even more, as they provide bonuses for specific playstyles. The more pieces you equip from the same brand, the more you benefit from it.
A similar principle applies to the gear sets. This type of equipment already existed in the predecessor.
This is how it was in The Division 1: A standard gear set has a total of four bonuses that can be unlocked. To unlock the first bonus, you had to wear two pieces from the same set.
To activate all four, you had to equip four pieces accordingly. In The Division 1, there were also secret gear sets with up to 6 bonuses, which have not yet been confirmed for The Division 2.
Loot and Equipment in Anthem
Anthem also has several weapon categories from which you can choose your armament. The rarity of loot in Anthem is also typically indicated in colors.
These are the weapon categories:
Assault Rifles
Sniper Rifles
Heavy Pistols
Submachine Guns
Shotguns
Auto Cannons
Light Machine Guns
Additionally, you can customize and enhance your javelin.
This is what you can equip and modify on your javelin:
Components
Weapons
Storm: Focus, Blast, and Strength Seals
Colossus: Artillery, Heavy Launchers, Strength Systems
Ranger: Grenades, Launchers, Strength Systems
Interceptor: Assault, Hit, and Strength Systems
The javelin systems are like your skill slots. You will then find the matching skills on your missions as loot.
In contrast to The Division 2, there are currently no set bonuses in Anthem. However, there are expected to be many legendary weapons that are expected to have a strong influence on gameplay, as they provide advantages for certain skills.
The Skill System of The Division 2
This is how skills work: Each player can carry up to two active skills in combat. As far as we currently know, The Division 2 offers a total of 8 different skills to choose from. These skills differ greatly from each other and come with different functions.
There is, for example, a tactical scan that shows you the location of enemies, or the drone, which attacks your enemies depending on the chosen skill mod or repairs your armor. In our article, we have summarized what we know so far about the skills.
Unlike in Anthem, skills in The Division 2 have more of a supportive function. The focus remains on using your weapons in combat.
While in The Division 2 you can freely choose which skills to use, the javelins in Anthem dictate the direction first. Certain javelins also master specific skills that you can equip in the specific equipment slots. Each javelin has two slots for skills available.
For example, the Ranger has several types for his grenade slot that can have different effects: Frost and fire grenades, as well as guided and sticky grenades. His ultimate attack also has a targeting system that rains multiple rockets down on the targeted enemies.
The Colossus, on the other hand, uses various types of mortars. Additionally, he has flamethrowers or flak cannons. His ultimate attack is a siege cannon that fires massive projectiles.
The Storm Javelin is seen as the magician among the javelins and has various elemental attacks to choose from that can burn, shock, and freeze enemies. His ultimate attack is an elemental storm that can be used against groups of enemies.
The Interceptor is the melee fighter among the javelins and can deal high damage with plasma stars, poison attacks, and melee attacks. His ultimate attack is a sort of rage mode in which the Interceptor takes no damage and deals increased melee damage.
How exactly the skills and ultimates of the javelins work and what they do, you can read in our overview of all skills.
This is how skills and combos work in combat: The combat system of Anthem is heavily focused on combos. There are primer and detonator skills.
If an enemy is hit by a primer skill,
the subsequent detonator skill triggers a combo explosion.
If you trigger many combos, you deal significantly higher damage.
Skills are therefore significantly more important in combat and are likely your main source of high damage output in the endgame. Unlike in The Division 2, they are as important as your weapons.
The Endgame of The Division 2
This is what we know so far: Details about how the endgame works have not yet been presented. In addition to PvP and the Dark Zones, there is a new faction that appears once you complete the story in The Division 2. This faction is supposed to initiate a permanent battle for the game world of Washington D.C.
The endgame features of The Division 2:
World ranks, where the difficulty level and loot level of the open world can be determined
Difficulty levels in missions
2 PvP modes
The 3 Dark Zones
Invaded missions, where you deal with the new faction
Additionally, there will likely be daily and weekly challenges. Although these are not confirmed, they were present in the predecessor.
The goal of the endgame is to improve your gear and gear score, to rank up, master higher difficulty levels, and optimize your gameplay.
In the first year, further specializations and other expansions are to be published. Because The Division 2 wants to keep you engaged long after release.
This is how the invaded missions work: After completing the story, the faction Black Tusk appears and tries to take over Washington D.C. They consequently also hijack the areas of the missions you played during the story. So, it is necessary to face Black Tusk in new versions of these missions.
Black Tusk is particularly dangerous, technically well-equipped, and better trained tactically than the other factions. Thus, they represent the first new challenge after the story. The story continues to be told as well.
Specializations for more build diversity: Once you reach level 30 and thus the endgame of The Division 2, specializations will be unlocked. These are freely switchable classes that bring specific special weapons, skill variants, and other advantages. There are
Survivor Specialist: His signature weapon is the crossbow
Destruction Expert: This specialization grants you a grenade launcher
Sniper: This specialization grants you a caliber 50 sniper rifle.
The Endgame of Anthem
This is what we know so far: In Anthem, the endgame mainly revolves around mastering the grandmaster ranks. These are particularly high difficulty levels that are unlocked upon reaching the max level of 30. They present greater challenges and increase your chances of rare loot.
In total, there are 3 grandmaster ranks in Anthem:
Grandmaster 1
Grandmaster 2
Grandmaster 3
The difficulty levels indicate how much damage individual enemies can take and how much damage they deal. You can select from these ranks in all mission types, such as strongholds or freeplay.
This is how strongholds work: These are larger dungeon-like missions that culminate in a boss fight. In the course of the strongholds, you must fight through several areas, complete tasks, and pave your way to the boss. Teamplay is essential in these missions, you cannot just set out on your own. At launch, Anthem will have three strongholds:
The Mine of Tyranny
The Temple of Scar
Heart of Rage (translation still unknown)
However, more will follow quickly after release.
Other endgame features:
Legendary Contracts: Daily repeatable missions that are randomly generated
World Events: These can be suddenly occurring events in the open world of Anthem
Our author Tarek thinks: The question is not as difficult to answer as it seems at first. Both titles share certain similarities which is why this comparison comes about. However, I would not consider the similarities in the decision-making.
What matters much more are your own preferences regarding story, setting, and gameplay. The Division 2 and Anthem differ significantly in this regard.
The Division 2 is the better choice if you
prefer a more realistic setting that is based on our real world
would rather play a classic cover shooter
value a wide selection of weapons and gear
like more freedom when creating builds and adapting to your preferred playstyle
are a PvP player and don’t want to miss out on that
want a consistent development of the predecessor, which implements the feedback from fans, but remains true to what works
Moreover, many teams behind the development already have experience with the first part and respond to the community’s feedback.
Anthem is the better choice if you
like a futuristic setting with fantasy elements
want fast gameplay including mobility through flying
prefer less complex RPG elements that still offer many freedoms
want to play a story with fully voiced characters and decisions
enjoy a combo-heavy combat system in which skills are at the forefront
are looking for a new gaming experience that hasn’t existed before
Of course, it’s also possible to just play both.
In the following video, you can actually see which game more people are looking forward to:

In Apex Legends, there is an Easter egg that kept the community busy. It was about finding small Nessy plush toys in the correct order. Here you will learn where to find the Nessies and what happens when you catch them all.
What are Nessies in Apex Legends? Shortly after the launch of Apex Legends, players discovered a curious message in the kill feed. Where messages about kills usually appear, suddenly the message “A Nessy appears” showed up.
Soon, the reason for the message was found. It was a small plush toy in the shape of the legendary Loch Ness monster “Nessy”.
Such Nessies had already appeared in past games of the Titanfall series on maps. In Titanfall, there was even a Nessy shrine to find, where several toy Nessies worshiped a large Nessy.
A developer made cryptic comments about the Nessies upon request. Therefore, players set out to find more Nessies and the mystery behind them.
Here you can find all 10 Nessies
Here’s how players got the info about Nessy: Players quickly discovered through datamining that there are 10 Nessies that appear in the game over time. You need to find and shoot them in the correct order. Then something special will likely happen.
To solve the task of finding the Nessies, several groups of players went on a Nessy hunt. The result is a large map with all Nessy locations. You need to find and shoot them in the specified order.
You can find the Nessies at the following locations:
The first Nessy is at the river west of the bridge near Cascades
Nessy 2 is in Skull Town
The third Nessy is in the west of Slum Lakes
You will find the fourth Nessy in the west of Relay
Directly in the middle of Water Treatment is the 5th Nessy
East of Runoff you will find the 6th Nessy
At the eastern edge of Wetlands is Nessy number 7
Between the Hydro Dam and the Swamps is the 8th Nessy
Nessy number 9 is not at any named location. Look at the spot where the river bends between Bunker and Bridges
The 10th Nessy is in the swamp at Swamps on the eastern edge
How can you find all these Nessies? This is indeed extremely difficult, as you must find all the Nessies in one round and in the correct order. Your enemies will surely not allow that easily. Additionally, you need to scour almost the entire map.

So it only works reliably if you split up as a team and each take one-third of the map and the Nessies that appear there.
What happens if I have all the Nessies? Once the 10th Nessy has been found, a large Loch Ness Monster appears at the edge of the swamp and lets out its roar. Nothing more happens (for now).
How did the players react? Since the effort for the big Nessy was so titanic, the monster hunters are somewhat disappointed. They were expecting a major event that kicked off with the Nessy fun.
But what is not, can still happen. Apex Legends has only been on the market for a little over a week and the developers seem to have a lot planned.
Perhaps Nessy will still play a role in the upcoming Season 1 of Apex Legends.
A glitch in the new content patch of Final Fantasy XIV leaks the possible name of a completely new race that is expected to be playable with the expansion Shadowbringers. Several data miners confirm the find.
What does the glitch do? In the French version of FFXIV, Reddit user ValDCX made a strange discovery.
Source: Reddit user ValDCX
He discovered mentions of all races from the game in several NPC dialogues, including those that are not yet playable. This includes the Viera and a race that has not been announced yet: The so-called “Hrothgar”.
Other French FFXIV players joined the thread and posted images of the same glitch occurring with other NPCs.
Source: Reddit user Truci_Westwood
How did the glitch occur? One of the possible reasons for the glitch might be the fact that in the French version of the MMORPG, the player character is often addressed by the name of their race instead of the usual neutral “Adventurer”.
The error likely arose because the code in the NPC dialogues could not be properly parsed. As a result, the NPCs mentioned the names of all races instead of just one appropriate name.
This text does not appear in other language versions of Final Fantasy XIV.
Data miners confirm the find: Several data miners subsequently joined the Reddit thread and confirmed the legitimacy of the screenshots.
They posted, for example, text passages that can be found in the code of FFXIV, which also mention the Hrothgar.
Furthermore, it would not be the first time that the game’s code contained unpublished information. The Samurai job was also discovered in the FFXIV files before it was announced at the Fan Fest in Frankfurt.
What exactly are Hrothgar? At this point, it is not possible to say how exactly the Hrothgar will look when they come into the game. There are only name mentions and no images of them.
However, players on Reddit speculate that it may be a lion-like race. Some suspect that the Hrothgar could resemble the Ronso from Final Fantasy X.
What other information could be drawn from the glitch? Another interesting detail that players discovered hinted at the possible genders of the two races Viera and Hrothgar.
In the French language, there is a clear distinction between men and women in addressing. Both for the Viera and the Hrothgar, masculine and feminine pronouns are used in the found texts.
Since the male Viera were not announced at the last Fan Festival in Paris, this is now an indication that the males may still come.
The glitch is supported by further leaks: Rumors about a new race, which is supposed to be playable along with the already known Viera from Shadowbringers, have been circulating in the FFXIV community for a long time.
The well-known leaker BluFever mentioned in his post about two new playable races: The Viera and a still-secret race without a name.
A significant portion of his leaks has been proven true so far. Therefore, the likelihood is high that the Hrothgar are the secret race that BluFever mentioned.
We will learn more about this at the Fan Festival in Japan in March.
Amazon’s New World is currently in Alpha. Our author Alexander Leitsch is actually a player of the MMORPG “Guild Wars 2”. Nevertheless, he had a lot of fun in New World.Because there are also guild wars in New World – although of a different kind.
With this experience, I approached New World: I am a passionate “Guild Wars 2” player and have spent 7000 hours in the MMORPG. Although New World and my favorite are extremely different, I enjoyed the first three hours in the new MMO.
For me, Amazon takes a part from Guild Wars 2 and makes it significantly better. This is the World vs. World mode.
The World vs. World in Guild Wars 2
What is World vs. World? In World vs. World, “Guild Wars 2” servers, called “worlds”, fight against each other. On special maps, they wrestle for fortresses, towers, and smaller camps. For the conquests and defenses, siege weapons can be built and deployed.
Each world has its “own map” with a large fortress and two small outposts on the home maps of the other worlds. Additionally, there is a fourth, neutral world. On each map, about 150 players from each world can play simultaneously.
What are the problems with World vs. World? The game mode was very popular at the launch of the MMORPG, but has struggled with many issues since Heart of Thorns.
Some of the biggest problems include class balance and the distribution of players across the servers. But also the lack of innovations for the mode and some old missteps have influenced the decline in player numbers.
Some problems are meant to be improved by a new system, but almost a year has passed since the announcement.
New World is the better World vs. World
This is what makes New World better than Guild Wars 2: While Guild Wars 2 focuses on other content like PvE, raids, or instanced PvP, New World completely focuses on guild combat.
Anyone who wants to delve deeper into New World will inevitably find themselves in a guild to survive in the world. Guilds control and conquer fortresses on the map and serve to collectively explore the world.
However, fortresses are the endgame in New World, and it will be difficult to build up a fortress alone, let alone conquer one from other guilds. And you cannot defend the fortress alone either.
In Guild Wars 2, it was often discussed that players engage too rarely in guilds. Many just run aimlessly around the map or follow other players without communication. This will be very difficult in New World.
In New World, creativity from players is also emphasized. Fortresses are not just there, but can be built and designed by players themselves.
The way of conquering will also change, as fortresses are not always built the same way. While there may be stronger walls in some places, others are only protected by a simple wooden wall.
This way, Amazon avoids the problem that classes have to be balanced against each other. The balance issues lie only with the equipment and the two special skills that you have on each weapon alongside the auto-attack and blocking.
Drawback: It is only a small part of Guild Wars 2
That’s why New World is still not a replacement for me: I have been playing mainly Guild Wars 2 for many years. I play it because of the good mix of PvE, PvP, and story content. New World, on the other hand, focuses solely on the fight for fortresses.
So if you are mainly interested in that and don’t need quests or a great playable story, you will feel comfortable in New World.
Here is how the dimensions differ: While in Guild Wars 2 guilds can consist of 500 players, but only 150 can compete on one map, Amazon has set completely different standards in New World.
A guild in New World can consist of a maximum of 50 people. These can control several fortresses and may need to expand and defend these simultaneously.
Add to this the huge number of players who can access the world overall. It’s said that on one world thousands of players can play simultaneously. This is made possible by Amazon’s server technology.
So there is a clear contrast:
In New World, the world is huge, but the guild is rather small
In Guild Wars 2, the guild is large, and the combat arena is rather small
This is how New World circumvents the balance problem: New World does not rely on classes. To define your playstyle, you just need to equip the right gear and weapons.
If you want to go ranged, you equip a bow and gear with high damage. In melee, it is wise to pay attention to defense in your equipment as well.
FIFA 19 receives a new title update that does not portray former Wolfsburg player Luiz Gustavo in a good light.
New update brings new faces: On February 12, EA Sports released title update 8 for the PC version of FIFA 19. It will also be released for PS4 and Xbox One in the coming days. The biggest change in the update concerns the player portraits.
Almost 1000 new faces in FIFA 19: According to the patch notes, more than 200 new 2D portraits will be added for players who previously did not have their own portrait. Additionally, more than 700 players, whose images were outdated, will receive more current portraits.
The 2D portraits are the player images seen on the FUT cards.
New card of Luiz Gustavo causes laughter
This is what Gustavo’s previous card looked like: The fresh card of Luiz Gustavo does not flatter the player particularly well. On his old FUT card, he was still clean-shaven, had a neat hairstyle, and looked somewhat straight into the camera:
This is how he was known during his time at Bayern or VfL Wolfsburg.
Luiz Gustavo as “drug addict”: However, on the new picture, he looks quite unfortunate. Currently, he plays in Marseille with a noticeable beard and curly hair – which is why EA likely deemed a portrait update appropriate – yet Luiz Gustavo does not look particularly positive in this image:
This is how the community reacts: On reddit, the new portrait is causing some laughter. Currently, the post about the new Gustavo look is the top thread in the fifa-reddit.
The fans are amused. He now looks like
a mix of a hobo, a drug addict, and an 80s icon
the new role of Lando in Star Wars
the child of Jimi Hendrix and Prince
Rick James
someone who kills people for Pablo Escobar.
One user writes that he will now buy him directly. Because he needs Jimi Hendrix on his team. Another says he would finally be happy to pull Gustavo in packs – because he just looks ridiculous.
Patch notes for the new title update
This is changing as well:
Several jerseys and crests will be updated
A problem is being fixed where the crests of some teams in the La Liga broadcast were not displayed properly.
The accessibility settings can now be accessed directly in the FIFA main menu. An icon will be added at the bottom of the screen for this.
New color blindness settings will be added.
A new “Player Indicator Size Setting” will also be introduced. This allows you to set how large the symbol above the head of the player you are controlling should be.
