It has now been 20 years since Blizzard launched its own space franchise, revolutionizing the real-time strategy genre with StarCraft. For the developers, that’s reason enough to reflect on the years of development. After all, there have been numerous expansions for both StarCraft titles and recently even a remake of the first StarCraft.
To celebrate the anniversary in other games, there are all sorts of small goodies. While players of World of Warcraft only have to deal with a mundane achievement and gamers of Heroes of the Storm receive just three profile portraits, Overwatch shines as the clear winner of this promotion.
An extremely stylish skin for sniper Widowmaker in the form of Sarah Kerrigan is up for grabs.
It is the skin with which she could be seen in StarCraft 1 – as well as in this cinematic from StarCraft 2:
Widowmaker Skin for Logging In in March
If you want to grab the skin, you just need to log in to Overwatch between March 6, 2018 and April 3, 2018. The offer applies to both PC and the consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Sarah Kerrigan was then a Ghost of the Terrans – an elite sniper with psychic powers. Only after she was betrayed by Mengsk was she captured by the Zerg Swarm and turned into the infamous Queen of Blades. So the skin depicts Kerrigan before her transformation into a Zerg.
It is uncertain whether the skin will still be available after April 3. However, it is possible that the skin will be moved to the regular loot boxes in the future, as was the case with a special Genji skin.
