The community of Overwatch is calling for a new character – so far, it has only been a voice on a map. Everyone wants the “Queen”.
Currently, the next update is being tested on the PTR of Overwatch. It mainly includes some changes to Mercy and D.Va, but also the new map “Junkertown”.
Junkertown is located in the Australia of the future and is a city inhabited by tinkerers and scrap dealers, the “Junkers”. However, the new payload map leaves many fans cold. They find what happens on the map or rather, which voice can be heard there, much more exciting.
Junkertown is ruled by the mysterious “Queen”, who can also be heard in numerous voicelines on the map. She also voices the official preview video for the map.
Within the map, there is even a small poster showing the Queen – but that’s already the only official source regarding reliable image material.
The community is already going crazy for the character and knows no bounds. Although there are no more than words and a single image, hundreds of artworks around “Queen” are already being created.
Queen already has cosplay fans
Even cosplayers have already started to develop their interpretation of the character.
Fanarts are already springing up with demands like “Queen of Junkertown, please judge me!” or similar phrases.
Will Blizzard ever make the Queen a standalone character or is there already a plan for that? Given the overwhelming reaction from the fans, it is likely now at least on the long-term plan.
