The emotes from Overwatch get a new category. Soon, the dance floor will be opened!
From May 23, the new “Anniversary Event” will take place in Overwatch, celebrating the first birthday of the hero shooter. Exact information about the event’s proceedings and contents is still sparse. However, Blizzard is slowly revealing details. Through the Brazilian Twitter account of Overwatch, a small preview of some of the new emotes that will be introduced into the game world with the event has been provided.
It has been demanded by fans for a long time, and now it is becoming a reality. Like in almost all other Blizzard games, the heroes will learn to groove with their own dance emote!
So far, dances for Sombra, Lúcio, Symmetra, and Zenyatta have been released, with Zenyatta’s dance looking more like a strange yoga exercise meant to bring the Chi into balance… or something like that. As it should be, the heroes dance to the music of their favorite DJ, Lúcio.
Since Lúcio provides the music, it is not surprising that the preview comes from the Brazilian Twitter account—after all, Lúcio comes from that region.
Overwatch dances only for 4 characters?
It is still unclear whether all characters will receive their own dance or if this only applies to the four shown heroes. Given the positive reactions in the forums and on Reddit, it seems clear that Blizzard must allow this for all heroes. And to be honest: Who wouldn’t want to see a swaying Reinhardt?
On a completely different note, whether you will ever have the opportunity to fully utilize a dance in a normal match remains to be seen—but it’s all about the possibility.
Another emote has already been confirmed for Reaper—the sarcastic shrug from the comic “Uprising”.
