The next event of Overwatch has begun. The Summer Games 2017 are back and entice with new rewards.
Almost exactly a year ago, Overwatch celebrated its first in-game event and brought a lot of new content to the hero shooter with the Summer Games 2016. In addition to numerous skins, emotes, and victory poses, there was also a new game mode for the first time – Lúcioball. Here, players had to score a ball into the goal in true “Rocket League” manner instead of capturing control points or escorting payloads.
Summer Games 2017 now active in Overwatch
In 2017, the Summer Games are back – and are now active as of August 8, 2017! This means that players can earn special Summer Games loot boxes in Overwatch again for 3 weeks. These contain a lot of skins, emotes, voice lines, and other cosmetic items.
Thanks to the new system, which should have fewer duplicates in the loot boxes, the boxes are now more rewarding than ever.
For the first time in the Summer Games, cosmetic items can also be purchased with credits. Items from the previous year have the usual price of their respective rarity, while new items are three times the price (a legendary skin costs about 3,000 credits).
We have presented all new skins of the Summer Games 2017 here.
New in the Summer Games 2017 – Competitive Lúcioball
If you always wanted to play Lúcioball seriously, now is your chance. In the new mode “Copa Lúcioball,” players can now play Lúcioball in a ranked match.
As in the “real” game, there are placement matches and a skill rating, which is rewarded at the end of the 3-week season with a spray logo. Those who make it into the top 500 will even receive an additional spray logo on top!
The Summer Games are active for three weeks – until August 29, 2017. If you want the skins, you should play Blizzard’s hero shooter diligently now!
