After the release of the charity skin for Mercy from Overwatch, it is unclear how much money from purchases on the PlayStation 4 will actually go to breast cancer research. While Blizzard and Microsoft are likely donating all proceeds, the situation on PlayStation 4 is unclear.
Is the entire revenue from Overwatch’s Mercy charity skin being donated to breast cancer research or not? While the situation seems clear for the Battle.net and Xbox One platforms, Sony is entangled in contradictions.
The Mercy skin aims to promote breast cancer research. Blizzard recently released a new skin for the character Mercy from Overwatch. This can only be purchased with real money or Blizzard credits. However, the proceeds are supposed to be donated to breast cancer research.
While it is stated on Battle.net and Xbox One that all revenues are directed towards a good cause, the situation is different on PlayStation 4. The PlayStation Store states that Blizzard Entertainment is donating €11.78 of the €14.99 price to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This leaves €3.21 with unclear circumstances regarding its allocation.

Where does the money go? After the US website GameSpot inquired, Sony stated that they are not making a profit from the breast cancer skin. However, they left the allocation of the remaining €3.21 from the price of €14.99 unspecified. This difference also exists in other stores, such as the British PlayStation Store.
Meanwhile, Blizzard stated that they cannot comment on the pricing of platforms other than Battle.net.
The Mercy skin “Pink” will be available for purchase from May 8 to May 21 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. In this country, the skin costs €14.99.
