Sombra is unplayable and much too weak! A player proves the opposite in Overwatch even though the path was full of mockery and ridicule.
Those who do not adhere to certain unwritten laws in the competitive modes of Overwatch will quickly be harshly approached by their teammates. For a long time, this was true for the archer Hanzo, who was commonly referred to as a “throw pick” – he has since shed this reputation.
Now the “throw pick” title belongs to the newest heroine of Overwatch: Sombra.
Many players consider Sombra a bad character, chosen for a good reason. Her abilities are said to be too weak, her damage is only moderate, and the hack rarely goes through, leaving her often just lying dead on the ground.
Exactly with these problems had to deal the player Bunsen, who is repeatedly bullied by his team right after logging in.
“Hey Bunsen” comes the delicate voice from the voice chat announcing even before the round starts: “I fucking hate you.” – simply because he even chose Sombra. Remarks like “This is now 5 against 6 because we have a Sombra” were part of the daily routine.
What happens next, you better watch for yourself:
During the matches, the team’s opinion changes quickly. From “Let them just take the control point, we can’t win with Sombra anyway” quickly shifts to incredulous compliments “Good job” and “That was a good hack”.
“What the hell? Since when can Sombra actually be a useful part of the team?”
It seems as if Jeff Kaplan was right: not all players have figured out how to use Sombra well yet – but perhaps only a few chosen ones, like Bunsen, can.
