In our guide, we will tell you how to get the most out of Soldier: 76 and become a plague for the enemy team in Overwatch.
The Super Soldier in the Service of Good
Overwatch has been accessible for several days for all players who decided to buy it, and slowly but surely, more is being learned about the various heroes that Blizzard’s shooter has to offer. After a guide for Knight Reinhardt and musician Lúcio, we are now focusing on Soldier: 76, who once led Overwatch.
Heavy Pulse Rifle – Deadly Precision in Bursts
- The pulse rifle becomes less accurate the longer you shoot. With controlled bursts of 3 shots each, you maintain the highest precision even at maximum distance.
- You should refrain from bursts in direct close combat and just “let loose”.
- Due to its high precision, the pulse rifle is perfect for headshots. Especially Pharahs, who are “slow” in the air, can be taken down with just a few hits.
Sprinting – The Speed Advantage
- Sprinting has no cooldown. So always use it when you don’t need to shoot. There is basically no reason not to sprint!
Helix Rockets – For the Extra Boom
- The area damage of the helix rockets is low. Only actual hits are truly devastating, but they can eliminate weak heroes (like Tracer, Widowmaker, Zenyatta) in a fraction of a second.
- If a Genji reflects and has very little health left, aim the helix rockets at the ground at his feet. Although the rocket itself will not deal damage, the area damage cannot be reflected and can kill him.

Biotic Field – Healing for the Whole Team
- If you know a fight is coming, first run to cover and deploy the biotic field. Especially in a 1-on-1 duel, this often provides the decisive advantage.
- The biotic field heals 200 health points for all allies who spend the entire duration in it. Thus, Soldier: 76 can also be a relatively solid supporter without sacrificing firepower.
Tactical Visor – Precise Aimbot with Tricks
- The Tactical Visor completely reloads your magazine when used. Keep this in mind if you want to use the ultimate for a “spontaneous reload”.
- Use the ultimate only when the enemy is distracted or has no protection (for example, from Reinhardt’s shield). A targeted shield can completely “absorb” the ultimate without achieving any effect.
- Although the Tactical Visor is an aimbot, you still have to aim roughly! Bring the crosshair close to the vulnerable heroes, because the visor always aims at the opponent who is closest to the center of the screen.

- During the Tactical Visor, the helix rockets are also aimed at your current target. However, this does not necessarily mean that the rocket will hit its target – as it is not “homing” (like normal ammunition) but simply flies to the spot where your opponent stood when shot.
When is Soldier: 76 Meaningful?
Soldier: 76 fits into any team composition. Whether as an attacker or as a defender, he is useful and performs each role excellently. His weaknesses are primarily McCree, Widowmaker, Hanzo, and Reaper, who can eliminate Soldier before he can react. If you face multiple of these heroes, a switch may be worthwhile.
