Season 9 of the competitive games of Overwatch is ending, and Season 10 already has a start date. If you haven’t dared to try Overwatch in this season, now is the last chance for the rewards of Season 9.
In just a few hours, Season 9 of the ranked matches in Overwatch will come to an end. Season 10 is already on the starting blocks. You can expect many changes in the ranked matches in the upcoming season that could shake up the meta significantly.
Even if you usually have no interest in competitive play, it’s worth playing at least the placement matches of the current season. In the end, there are rewards waiting for you, some of which you will never be able to obtain again later.
End and Rewards of Season 9
Season 9 of Overwatch ends at exactly 2:00 AM on Saturday, April 28. So you only have a few hours left to play the 10 placement matches. Even if the thrill of the rankings doesn’t excite you, they are worth it for the rewards.
You will receive an exclusive spray and a player icon just for the placement. The sprays and icons traditionally show the season in which they were acquired and cannot be obtained afterwards.
If you reach a spot in the top 500 of your region and platform, you will also receive an animated version of the spray and another player icon.
Additionally, you will receive ranked points depending on your ranked game level (Skill Rating, SR). With every 3000 of these points, you can purchase golden versions of weapons for a character. How many points you will receive can be found in the following list.
- SR 1-1499 (Bronze): 65 ranked points
- SR 1500-1999 (Silver): 125 ranked points
- SR 2000-2499 (Gold): 250 ranked points
- SR 2500-2999 (Platinum): 500 ranked points
- SR 3000-3499 (Diamond): 750 ranked points
- SR 3500-3999 (Master): 1200 ranked points
- SR 4000-5000 (Grandmaster): 1750 ranked points
Start and Changes of Season 10
Season 10 of Overwatch will start only 3 days after the end of Season 9, on Tuesday, May 1 at 2:00 AM Central European Summer Time. With Season 10, some changes will enter the competitive game of Overwatch, which could even affect the meta.
The most important change happens right at the beginning: Brigitte will be playable in ranked matches. The tank/support hybrid Swede could create some movement in the meta according to the professional players of the Overwatch League.
Furthermore, adjustments to Hanzo, Symmetra, Torbjörn and other heroes are currently being made, which are likely to take effect during the course of the season. Whether the dive meta will then be completely gone will be revealed starting May 1.
