The next hero of Overwatch has a release date. We will tell you when Orisa launches in the live version on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
In recent weeks, the developers of Overwatch have spent a lot of time testing the next hero on the PTR. Apparently, the PTR has now reached a state that the developers are satisfied with, as today the release date for the Omnic lady has been announced.
Orisa will already be available next week on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The official release date is March 21, 2017.
Orisa is actually a protection robot, consisting of the old shell of an OR-15 model that was assigned to guard Numbani. The young Efi Oladele has further developed this robot and given it a “soul” so that it can be a true hero. This step became necessary when there was an attack in Numbani and the legendary “Doomfist” was stolen, which is now in the hands of unknown individuals.
Orisa is the first hero that stands on four legs and already combines well-known abilities from Zarya, Bastion, and Reinhardt. She has a weapon with a very large magazine and significant damage, while she can bind opponents (like Zarya) to a spot or even pull them around corners. As an ultimate ability, she sets up a generator that amplifies the damage dealt by all nearby friendly players.
A creation video showing how the developers approached the design of Orisa has been released by Blizzard concurrently. This gives a first glimpse into how the developers work. For instance, it can be seen that Orisa started as “Punk-Zarya with Bastion gun” and only later was her appearance developed.
More about Orisa and her abilities can be found in this post for you.
