In the latest Overwatch comic, the darkest secrets of Russia are revealed – but also the true name of the hacker Sombra.
The story of Overwatch is repeatedly told in small pieces that lore enthusiasts of Blizzard’s hero shooter eagerly await. Last night (September 28, 2017), Blizzard released a new chapter of the Overwatch story.
The comic Searching deals with the story of Zarya and seamlessly connects to Sombra’s cinematic.
We remember: Sombra infiltrated Volskaya Industries, the Russian mega-corporation for defense against Omnics, alongside Reaper and Widowmaker, and blackmailed the director Katya Volskaya.
Following that, Zarya enters the scene and is tasked by Katya to track down Sombra – because the fate of all Russia is at stake. During this, Zarya encounters the omnic hacker Lynx Seventeen, with whom she goes on the hunt for Sombra, even though they do not understand each other at all.

The Circle Closes in the Overwatch Comic “Searching”
The comic ultimately ends with several revelations:
- Alejandra from the Soldier: 76 cinematic is involved in Sombra’s activities or at least knows her
- Sombra’s civilian name is Olivia Colomar
- Volskaya Industries is not the shining bastion against the Omnics at all. The entire technology of Volskaya originally comes from the Omnics themselves – because they know best how to eliminate their own kind effectively.
