In Overwatch, you can buy a new Mercy skin for real money for a limited time. The money raised will be fully donated by Blizzard to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Since May 8, the Overwatch hero Mercy can purchase the exclusive skin “Pink”. The special twist: The skin is only available for real money. It cannot be earned, and the proceeds go entirely to a research institute for breast cancer.
New Mercy Skin “Pink” Available for a Limited Time
Anyone logging into Overwatch today will receive a message about an exclusive skin for the healer Mercy. Blizzard offers players the skin “Pink”, which they can purchase from May 8 to May 21.
The skin can be purchased both through the hero gallery in Overwatch and directly through the Blizzard store. The store is available via the Battle.net launcher. The skin costs €14.99 and is only available for real money or Blizzard balance.
Those who do not want the skin for themselves can also gift it through a feature in the shop. This way, you can make someone else happy while still donating to a good cause.
Blizzard Donates Proceeds to Breast Cancer Research
After the event ends, Blizzard will transfer the collected proceeds entirely to the American Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Thus, the entire revenue does not go to the game developers but to a research center for breast cancer.
Blizzard often makes headlines with such actions. Some time ago, the company sold the pet “Evil Cat” in World of Warcraft. The proceeds from that initiative went to the “Make-a-Wish” foundation.
