The opening ceremony of Blizzcon 2017 had a lot in store for Overwatch . However, what most players were probably waiting for is the new hero: Moira!
Blackwatch’s secret weapon: Moira!
The new Overwatch hero Moira will be a support character. For some time now, the community has been loudly calling for more healers. This wish is finally being fulfilled! The healer comes with an interesting mix of damage, mobility, and healing!
As a former member of Blackwatch with a Talon past, Moira has gained powers that reveal the “mysteries of creation” and make her a living weapon. Moira plays, similar to Zenyatta, with the unity of light and shadow, which she carries in a sort of tank on her back and can switch at will.
Moira’s abilities
With the swirling, dark essence, she can teleport short distances using a shadow step and deal damage to enemies. Particularly interesting is her shadow orb, which can bounce off surfaces. It can thus be very effective in angles and buildings.
The light allows her to heal her allies. She can either focus it on a character or distribute it to all allies via a hovering orb.
Her ultimate is a combination of these two powers. In a massive beam, she can simultaneously snuff out enemies’ lights and restore her allies’ health. She can move freely while doing so.
Moira combines mechanics from Reaper, Zenyatta, Mercy, Symmetra, and Hanzo. This makes her feel more like an all-rounder than a supporter, and Kaplan’s joking description “OPAF” (standing for: OverPowered As F***, meaning “damn overpowered”) might be more accurate than thought.
The new hero is playable at Blizzcon. It won’t be long before she is also available on the PTR and live servers.
