Overwatch will soon be enriched with a new map. The Moon Colony Horizon will be released in just a few days.
The anniversary event of Overwatch has just ended and the community is still quite exhausted from the Double XP weekend, during which millions of loot boxes were surely earned. However, Blizzard does not give fans a break and is rolling out the next patch to keep the players entertained.
As announced, Update 1.12/2.14 for Overwatch will be released on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One – it might take a few hours longer for us.
The main feature of the new patch is the map Moon Colony Horizon. This is an abandoned research station of humans, where genetically modified gorillas were bred and trained. Winston also originates from this place, as can be seen in his cinematic “Recall”. Those who look closely at the map will find many parallels to the video. For instance, Winston’s “nursery,” where he meets the human Doctor Winston (after whom he later named himself).

However, the map also provides details about what went wrong on Moon Colony Horizon. One day there was a revolt of the gorillas and the people at the base were killed. What exactly happened to the gorillas is still unknown – only Winston is known to have grabbed a capsule to Earth.
The Moon Colony is an “Assault” map, meaning two control points must be captured or defended. There are some mechanical peculiarities, such as doors that only briefly open when passing through (and otherwise block the view) and a “Low Gravity” zone – after all, this all takes place on the moon.
Moreover, the patch 1.12/2.14 is expected to bring the planned nerfs for Roadhog and finally fix Reinhardt’s hammer.
