A new nerf for Mercy is currently being tested on the PTR of Overwatch . Her resurrection will be further adjusted downwards.
The popular healer from Overwatch, Mercy, was overhauled just a few days ago. Her old ultimate, mass resurrection, had to make way for a single resurrection that has a cooldown of 30 seconds. The ultimate was replaced by Valkyrie, where Mercy can fly freely and generally handles everything a bit better: healing, boosting damage, firing with the pistol. Additionally, activating Valkyrie immediately resets the cooldown of the single resurrection and temporarily reduces it to 10 seconds.
With these changes, Mercy has become an angel of death. She is by far the most popular healer, and usually no team can do without the Swiss if they hope for a serious chance of victory.
No cooldown bonuses on Mercy resurrection
That’s exactly why there is now a new nerf. A new update has been tested on the PTR of Overwatch since last night (10/04/2017).
- The nerf means that Mercy’s Valkyrie no longer resets the cooldown of the resurrection. Additionally, the cooldown of the resurrection is no longer reduced during the ultimate – it remains constant at 30 seconds.
- As a small compensation for this, the range of the resurrection during Valkyrie is doubled. Now Mercy doesn’t have to be as close to the “soul” of a fallen character.
The intention is clear: Mercy should be able to perform significantly fewer resurrections per round, so that this ability carries less weight and allows other healers to have a place in the team again.
What do you think of this nerf? Does it remove Mercy even further from her “guardian angel” role? Or is it just right to put an end to the Mercy dominance in every match?
Have you heard about the gigantic loot box that is set to be opened at BlizzCon 2017?
