Despite physical limitations, a player is really rocking in Overwatch – taking out enemies without pause with just one hand.
Anyone who has played Overwatch or similar shooters in recent years has surely heard their fair share of insults. “Are you only playing with one hand?” is certainly among the most common remarks that come through the voice chat. However, very few people realize that this is actually the reality for some players.
The American Aaron Soetaert was in the Air Force for a long time and served in Iraq. After his return, he was almost killed by a drunk driver. While he survived the accident, he lost nearly his left arm in the process. Only a stump remains. But Soetaert is not impressed by this fate and certainly does not let anyone dictate what can supposedly only be achieved with two hands.
As Labolover4895, he still secures the skies – although now with the gamepad using the Overwatch hero Pharah. He plays Overwatch on the console and does not need to hide from his teammates. On the contrary: time and again, he proves how he eliminates enemy teams single-handedly, lays ambushes, and is still a friendly, witty, and communicative teammate in voice chat.
On his Youtube channel, there are numerous clips featuring him, where you can admire not only his performance on the gamepad but also his technique in precisely handling the gamepad.
It’s even more impressive when you realize that Soetaert has only been playing this way for about a year.
Cortyn says: I find it absolutely fantastic and enviable when people do not lose their joy of life despite a hard fate and continue pursuing their passions. Soetaert is a fascinating example before whom one can only bow deeply.
We also have good players in our “Play of the Game” moments of the week.
