Lucio – Music heals and accelerates
Of the numerous heroes available in Overwatch, Lucio is arguably one of the most popular healers. This is mainly because the music fanatic heals mainly without really having to do anything actively – simply because it is a passive aura that supports him and his allies. Moreover, he also deals a fair amount of damage and has a strong control effect – no wonder he is already referred to on many sites as “the best hero” that should be in every team.
If you want to succeed with Lucio, you should pay attention to some basic tips and mechanics.
- Lucio has 2 auras that he can switch with the shift key. One grants all team members additional speed, and the other heals all nearby allies. Switching the auras in time is the key to successful healing.
- With the E key, you can temporarily “overload” the respective aura and massively increase the effect. This makes the speed bonus greater, which is perfect for starting with the whole team from the spawn point. When overloading the healing aura
- For the auras to affect allies, they must be in line of sight to Lucio! Walls and other obstacles block the aura – Lucio must always be in the fray to demonstrate maximum efficiency.
- The Sound Barrier (the ultimate) grants all nearby allies a massive shield that decays over a few seconds. The shield is so strong that it is perfect for overwhelming seemingly insurmountable opponents. Always use it when a critical point in the game is reached – such as the fight for the last meters of a payload or the last percent of a control point.
- Learn to time the “boop”, your right-click ability, correctly. Depending on the map being played, it can be quite devastating as you can simply knock enemies into the abyss, which often results in a multi-kill. - Lucio can not only “slip along” walls with the spacebar but also jump up them by repeatedly jumping quickly. This makes it even possible to save yourself from a pit or to overcome barriers that only characters like Pharah or Genji could normally climb.
- A really good Lucio also regularly hits with his weapon, where headshots deal devastating damage. But music just goes best directly into the ear.
