At the launch of Overwatch Blizzards distributed giant statues around the world. Check out these gigantic specimens here.
The world can never have enough heroes
Apparently, Blizzard was not satisfied with the attention from the Overwatch beta, which attracted over 9.7 million players. To celebrate the launch of the hero shooter worldwide, Blizzard promised a few days ago on Twitter that they had something “special” to show. While some overly enthusiastic fans were expecting the reveal of new heroes, Blizzard had something entirely different in mind.
At several locations around the world, life-size statues of Overwatch heroes have been erected, beautifying the cityscape for a few days. The statues have been spotted so far in Hollywood, Paris, and Busan, showcasing Genji, Tracer, and Pharah.
Many users on various social media have now been able to take some pictures of these statues.
Blizzard also couldn’t resist adding a silly safety warning to the packaging of these “action figures”:
“CHOKING HAZARD: It is impossible to choke on these statues because they are so large. However, you can be “choked” in an actual Overwatch match, which can lead to a last-minute defeat, shame, disappointment, or public ridicule, depending on your friends. Prizes and participation options will not change. These figures are priceless and participation is not possible.”
Whether these figures will ever be available for purchase in a smaller variation is pure speculation so far. It would, however, fit the picture, because what would be better for an action figure than actual “heroes”?
