Jeff Kaplan leaves the Overwatch community puzzled once again. He drops a new name “by the way” – is it the next hero?
The Overwatch community craves every little piece of information they can find about the game and the lore of the world. No matter how trivial or absurd the question may seem at first glance, there are guaranteed to be some players interested in the smallest details.
Jeff Kaplan, the Game Director of Overwatch, is known for answering various questions in the forum. Sometimes very elaborately, occasionally just briefly with a single word.
In the official forum, the user SomebodyElse wanted to know who flies the landing ships of Overwatch that are used in the control point maps (Lijiang Tower, Ilios, etc.).
It didn’t take long for Jeff Kaplan to seize the opportunity and simply tossed a name into the room: “Ray“.
As expected, the thread has exploded and speculation is going in all directions.
- Some particularly motivated players assume that Ray could be the name of the next hero that Kaplan “dropped in passing”. After all, one can’t do much with just a name, right? Such a significant announcement seems unlikely.
- Other players assume that Ray is a future alternative announcer. Many fans think that the omnic lady “Athena” will soon be implemented as a hero in the game. But this would only be possible if the current announcer, Athena, has an alternative, as otherwise, the voicelines could lead to confusion.
- However, it could also be that Kaplan was just making a joke, since “Ray” is a relatively common name.
Presumably, Kaplan is currently sitting in front of the screen in his office with his extra-large cup of coffee, enjoying himself.
