The next map of Overwatch is around the corner. We tell you the release date when Junkertown will be playable.
Several weeks ago at Gamescom 2017, the next map for Overwatch was revealed: Junkertown. Along with a small, funny cinematic featuring Roadhog and Junkrat, the excitement among players was high. A few days later, the map landed on the PTR for everyone interested to test it thoroughly.
Junkertown releases next week
Now Blizzard has released an official preview video of Junkertown and also revealed the release date. Junkertown will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 19, 2017 – that is, in one week.
The preview video provides some exciting insights into the creation of Junkertown. For example, you can see how Blizzard models different parts of the map and get some interesting background information.
Especially exciting will be the info about the “Queen”. She is story-wise the leader of the Junkers and is considered the sole ruler of Junkertown. Anyone who wants to achieve something must get past the Queen and needs her approval. Previously, she was a kind of “gladiator” herself, as there is a large arena in Junkertown where piloted mechs fight against each other.
Junkertown itself will be a payload map. The attackers must escort the payload in the form of gold, packed with a thick bomb, deep into the heart of Junkertown to play a big trick on the Queen and vanish with all of her belongings. The developers paid attention to many details, and numerous houses are traversable to set ambushes or find cover.
