For Overwatch, two new heroes have been introduced who have taken a spoon too many from the plate of madness: Roadhog and Junkrat!
Two heroes imported fresh from Borderlands
In recent weeks, things have become a bit quieter around Overwatch. The slight hope that the beta would start immediately after Gamescom has been completely buried, and eyes are now greedily looking towards BlizzCon. To keep the hype from completely fading and to keep the players engaged, Blizzard has now introduced two more heroes!
Roadhog and Junkrat could be taken 1:1 from a Borderlands game, have reached the same level of madness, and are anything but shining heroes – strictly speaking, they are even irradiated heroes.
Roadhog – Shotgun and Hook
Roadhog not only visually resembles Little from Heroes of the Storm, but also corresponds to his abilities to a typical tank. When he is not busy blasting enemies up close with his shotgun, he utilizes the following powers:
- The Take a Breather allows him to quickly restore a large portion of his health points.
- The Grappling Hook is thrown at a target. If it hits, the targeted character lands right in front of Roadhog (and is at the mercy of his shotgun).
- The ultimate ability Whole Hog allows Roadhog to throw ammunition into his meat grinder and – similar to a minigun – fire quick shots for several seconds. Each hit knocks back enemies slightly.
Junkrat – The Explosive Pyromaniac
Junkrat is also best approached from a safe distance, as the little man has an Omnium radiation and has over the years become a looting pyromaniac. He wants to create chaos – and his equipment is tailored exactly for that. In addition to his Grenade Launcher, he has the following abilities:
- The remote-detonated mine can be placed anywhere and detonated at the push of a button. This not only knocks back enemies but can also be used as a boost for Junkrat to make big jumps.
- The Steel Trap is also placed on the ground. The first enemy who steps into it is immobilized for a few seconds and takes damage.
- Even if Junkrat dies, his chaos doesn’t end: After death, he leaves some sharp grenades at his corpse that explode after a short delay.
- The ultimate ability RIP-Tire lets the hero navigate a fast, remote-controlled bomb across the battlefield, which explodes upon contact with the first enemy, causing devastating damage.
We can only hope that we will soon get to try out the two chaos heads ourselves. More about the game and the other characters can be found on our Overwatch theme page.
