The next Overwatch patch brings a lot of new skins. Who wouldn’t want a Gothic D.Va with cat ears?
Next week, on January 23, 2018, a new patch for Overwatch will be released. Although the highlight of the next patch is clearly the new map “Blizzard World”, where players can experience a Blizzard amusement park, the update has even more to offer.
On Twitter, Blizzard has now begun to gradually introduce previously unknown content. They start with a range of new spray logos, featuring the heroes in cute “Chibi” illustrations.
However, those who look closely will notice some peculiarities in the spray logos: Most representations of the various heroes do not even exist in this form in the game yet!
D.Va becomes an anime cat girl with a Gothic dress
For example, one can spot a D.Va who appears to be wearing a black Gothic-style dress and also has cute cat ears – anime fans are likely to be jumping for joy. Other skins, such as the Nova skin for Widowmaker or the Barbarian skin for Zarya.
Whether all the shown spray logos will actually receive a corresponding skin remains to be seen. However, Blizzard has raised expectations.
The special thing about the new skins that will be released next week is not just their crazy appearance. All skins of the next patch will be available in regular loot boxes!
Many players have complained that collecting loot boxes outside of events no longer brings joy, as they have long since obtained the sought-after skins. The upcoming patch should provide these players with new incentives. According to the current status and the reactions from the community, it seems that Blizzard is achieving this.
