Attention PS4 and Xbox One owners. Overwatch will be free to play next weekend.
3 Days of Overwatch for Free
Anyone who hasn’t had a chance to check out Blizzard’s hero shooter should mark next weekend on their calendar – at least if you own a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Blizzard has announced a “Free Weekend” for Overwatch, where console owners can try out the shooter in all its glory for nearly 3 days.
The free weekend starts on September 9 at 7:00 PM and ends on September 13 at 1:00 AM.
To make the most of the time, players should start the download early, as it will also begin at the times mentioned above (PS4: 9 GB, Xbox: 15 GB). PS4 owners need to go to the PlayStation Store and search for Overwatch, selecting the option “Overwatch Free Weekend.” Xbox players require an Xbox Gold membership and choose “Browse All” to find “Overwatch” and then download the “free demo” under “Overwatch Free Weekend.”
During the free trial, almost all features of Overwatch are accessible. The new map Eichenwalde and the weekly brawl are open to players. This allows players to level up their accounts and collect loot boxes. All earned items and stats will be saved if they decide to purchase the game later.
However, there are a few limitations: Achievement collecting is disabled during this time. To regain that ability, owners must first obtain the full version.
