Overwatch is celebrating its one-year anniversary with the gaming community and invites you to the Free Weekend. In the coming days, all players can play Blizzard’s hero shooter without having to pay for it.
The Free Weekend starts already tomorrow and is available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC players. If you are curious, you can try the shooter for free in the coming days.
Overwatch: Free Weekend Start and End
The Free Weekend in Overwatch starts already on Friday, May 26, at 20:00 German time (CEST). During this time, PC players with a Battle.net account, PS4 players with a PlayStation Plus membership, and Xbox One players with an Xbox Live Gold membership can download and play Overwatch for free.
Free Weekend End: The free trial period of Overwatch ends on Tuesday, May 30, at 08:59 German time (CEST).
Free Weekend 2017 – Download for PS4, Xbox One, and PC
Before you start playing, you first need to download the game. We will show you how to do that on the respective platforms. The download size for PC is about 12 GB. The download size for PS4 and Xbox One is about 20 GB.
Overwatch PS4 free download:
- Start your PS4 and log into the desired user account.
- Enter the PlayStation Store and search for “Overwatch“.

- After you have downloaded and installed the client and logged in with your credentials, click on the Overwatch icon on the left.
- Select your region in the menu and click on “Install” to start the installation.
- When the game is installed, you start it with the “Play” button in the Blizzard Desktop App.

During the Free Weekend, you have access to all heroes and maps as well as selected features like Quick Play, Custom Games, Arcade, and Loot Boxes. You also have access to the cool new contents like skins or emotes that are available for Overwatch’s Anniversary Event.
Will game progress be carried over?
If you enjoyed Overwatch during the Free Weekend so much that you want to purchase it afterward, then your progress will be carried over. All progress, including ranks, skins, and other items from loot boxes, will be transferred from the free version to the full version. Please note that you must purchase the game for the same account you used during the Free Weekend.
